My new Running Shoes first 3 miles

Monday, February 25, 2008

PHOTO: Whole Wheat Elbow Pasta (1 cup cooked), Pinto Beans (1/2 cup), Spinach leaves (2 cups fresh), Artichoke Hearts (4 canned in water), 1 Tbsp grated Parmesan Cheese and Red Pepper Flakes to taste (optional) = 460 calories - 79 gr of Carbs - 2 gr of Fat - 25 gr of Protein - 1647 mg of Sodium for the whole plate.

One of my favorite pre-run meals! ♥

Today was scheduled REST DAY from running, but I felt like I had to exercise, and for 4 reasons:

1 - I was hungry and ready to "munch"

2 - I wanted to do that last mile to buckle my February running mileage goal (60 miles)

3 - I wanted to expend those extra calories I got at the Mexican Restaurant, last night

4 - but mostly, I was litterally "burning" to test my new running shoes on a run... eh eh eh

So, I jogged a mile @12:30 min/mile (4.8 mph) and I walked 2 miles @20:00 min/mile and + (3 mph- 3.5 mph) on the TM, incline 1 - Upper body ST done while walking with 5lbs dumbbells (not accounted in my calorie deficit).

TOTAL cardio today: (not counting warm up and cool down)
-----------------------
= 50 minutes
= 3 miles
= 300 calories (rough estimation)
= 55.7 carbs (TM stats)

5 minutes warm up & cool down walks - Stretching

About the shoes:
--------------------

I immediately noticed the light weight of the shoe, as soon as I started jogging, and I had not experienced such a cushioned and soft stride in quite some time, and I am certainly really pleased with my purchase! :-))

It is amazing how a good pair of running shoes can turn a painful jog into a fun workout! Even my knees were happy today! LOL

I need now to see how my feet feel after 6 miles+ but I am optimistic that the size is right.

My numbers today:
-------------------------

Lightly Active TDEE (my BMR 1290 x 1.35) 1741 - 1385 (calories consumed)
= 356 Calorie Deficit.

Fruit =4 / 3
Veg = 10 / 5
RAW/FRESH veg = 6 / 3
Dairy = 4 / 3 servings
Whole Grains = 3.5 / 6 servings
Fiber = 46 / 25-35 gr
Sodium = 1463 / 2300 mg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Water = 16 / 8 cups
Sleep = 5 / 8 hours

Energy level = GOOD, but bit sore from yesterday long run

I will do 30 minutes of Yoga/Meditation/Stretching after the kids are in bed, tonight (not accounted in my calorie deficit today) and I will get to use my new Eco Conscious Cork Block and Hemp Strap. ;-)

    Hi Trico! I have been MIA visiting my new nephew =) This blog brings food for thought for me! Would you believe that I lost a toenail running?! It was over a period of time but it popped off this week. I think it is because I don't have a full thumb width between my toes and the end of my shoe!! May have to go get new ones sooner than I thought... Thanks for coming to my sparkpage too! Hugs, Lisa

    Oh yummy looking pasta there. I'm going to have to write that recipe down. Thank you! What kind of running shoes did you get? I probably missed that in a different blog. I'll go check.

    New wheels are soo much fun! Funny what we get excited about now huh? I love the recipe too. I copied it down and am going to try it in the next few days. I have some canned artichokes I have been shoving around in cabinet I can't remember what i bought for. All I can think to do with them is put them on pizza. Don't want to do that now do I?

    I too exercise when I have the munchies - it's a great distraction! Glad the new shoes are working for you. I'm not sure who told your last salesperson that shoes should be 1.5 sizes bigger than normal. I always went by the "width of the thumb" rule: as long as there's the width of a thumb between the tip of your big toe and the end of your shoe that should be fine (yes, in a former life I worked at a running store...).

    OOOH...I love your foodie pics, Ms Belle! Yummy...
Too funny about you and your new sneaks...they were calling to you, weren't they? So glad you like them and that they feel good on your feet and knees. WONDERFUL!
I believe I must get to posting a blog about the weekend too before too much time goes on. Got your email with our run route...thank you! I had a great time and am so glad to have met you in person. Here's to more running together!
