Down, down, down

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

I fell off the wagon for a bit around Christmas and only gained 4 pounds...this is a huge improvement considering I usually gain 10+. Last week I weighed and was back down to my pre-holiday weight and this week I'm officially 1 pound less.

ER4YT: Day 4

Thursday, March 18, 2010

I'm enjoying this food plan! I cooked stir-fry last night and that's one of my favorite meals. I also had a serving of chocolate frozen yogurt for dessert! I've stuck to the one soda per day, down from having 4-6 in an average day. I typically don't weigh in the middle of the week, but I'm down 4 pounds in 4 days. I'm not hungry, not missing anything and loving it.

Cutting sodas out (for the most part; I still have them sometimes when I'm out to dinner) helped me a lot. I was shocked at how just reducing the intake really helped me start to lose weight, so this is a good step!

Good luck!

Type A

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

I ran across the Eat Right 4 Your Type book by D'adamo. It's quite interesting. I already know that I have PCOS and insulin resistance which means that I have an increased risk of diabetes, endometrial cancer, elevated cholesterol, heart disease and a whole long list of other wonderful things. According to my blood type I should eat mostly fruits and veggies, very little poultry, no red meat (cry!!!), and very little wheat. There are other whole grains that are good for me and so I'm working with those. Today is day 3 and I'm doing pretty well. I've even found a soy milk that I like. I've also cut out artificial sweeteners and have cut myself down to one soda per day.

Good for you, taking the time/making the effort to educate yourself. That's a first step in reaching long term health goals.

Back On My Mind Again

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Just like the country song by Ronnie Milsap, Sparkpeople (and my health) is back on my mind again. I have to start following my doctor's orders again and cut out the simple carbs and most white stuff. The hardest food for me to give up is potatoes! I love baked potatoes! If I want a potato, I'll just have to have a sweet potato. I also need to be more active. Since losing my job, I have had no exercise/activity in my day. I saw my doctor yesterday and he actually added a dose of Metformin in the evening to my plan. I see him again in May and I want there to be an obvious improvement.

Goal Reached!!!

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

I'm so excited! I've reached my first goal of 250 (for a loss of 26 pounds)!!! I actually weighed in on Saturday but haven't had a chance to post until now. I'm 1.6 pounds from 10%. I'm setting my next goal for 225. My ultimate goal is somewhere around 150-165, not sure yet, but I know that I work better if I break down the journey.

I'd better get going, got quite a bit more work to complete today.

Tah-Tah For Now!

emoticon Well done you! I just really need to read this sort of thing at the moment I'm struggling so much and seeing peoples' successes really helps. Like the idea of breaking the ultimate goal into bits - will try and see if it helps me. Thanks for sharing. emoticon
