I started my day enjoying my morning exercise, 30 minutes on the bike, then I tried my 51 minute kickboxing DVD. Was having fun up until I had to do a wide legged stance and my right hip crunched and protested vigorously :( That old familiar pain that had laid me up just before my right hip replacement was showing itself again :( I ignored it and finished my workout. Did my usual morning stuff then had lunch and headed out to the club.
The wind was ferocious and I had to fight each step I took into it :( I had a decent game and came second, but learned a scoring error led to my losing out to my nemesis yesterday by a tiny fraction of a point :(
When I got out of the club, the weather had gotten much nastier. It had clouded over and the strong winds were freezing, was regretting wearing lighter clothing -can't see we reached our double digit temperature forecasted today. I had been hoping to go to take a fitness class, but didn't want to get stuck in a storm if one came. So I threw two loads of laundry in and headed to the mall to see what the closing of Zellers was bringing in sales. I saw two items I liked, but were too small. I did not think 10-30 % off was much for a liquidation sale. They won't move a lot at those prices.. Hoping they will come down as I like this Team Canada jacket I saw there. Being generally frustrated and in a snippy mood, I bought four different kinds of potato chips, oh so bad lol.
After I had done my laundry and got it put away, I sat down for a spell and when I finally got up the quad protested in a big way. Swell! That, and the pain in my hand makes me wonder if I will get through my workouts tomorrow. I really want to take Curves Zumba tomorrow. May need a painkiller boost, but that won't help if I snap a tendon in my bad right hand.
I have the next five days off from the club. Wish I could talk Mom into going to the Spa -Manitou, healing waters...I just got my cheque -honorarium and director's fees - could afford a few days away :)
Oh the food package did come with a cookbook and a nutrition class, but it was packed away with everything else -if I had checked my e-mail, I would have seen all my prizes listed :P. Oh well, will collect tomorrow!

Did my usual morning exercises, still feeling the muscle, but got it done. My usual breakfast, then my Humira injection, spending more time there then usual -she was a half an hour late. Got home and started getting my lunch together. I had my spinach salad with the crushed walnuts as well as some mixed seeds I had left over from my last salad and put some left over Asian salad dressing on it, was nummy! Then I had half a baked sweet potato and some green beans and finished off with some raw carrots and turnips dipped in Greek yogurt. Was great, but more calories then I am used to for a lunch -the walnuts, about two and a half tablespoons worth was 140 calories and 13 g of fat! Wowsers! Will be having to watch how much of those I have!
Went off to bridge and had a good game, tied for first with 62.88% with of course, my nemesis :P. Then it was to the mall to pick up some medications and my breakfast staple, bananas. Read a bit and then went off to Curves Zumba, just love the music and energy. Can't wait to get out and take full classes at the Fitness Facilities.
Great news is I can give Mom the free Y membership, in fact, I can give it all to who ever I please. Will be tough figuring out what to do with the natural diapers though lol, as the crises nursery or other places want disposables :( I will see everything I got Thursday as I made arrangements then to pick them up. I talked to the guy to make sure he was going to be present and to ask if I could give the membership away.
Discovered I am far behind on blogs, but will get around..

Wouldn't you know it, the bridge game I ran wasn't so smooth today. It looks like more people then me were asleep and I got a lot of director's calls and it seemed like the same three tables were always behind. Some people you just can't make play a little faster. Mom arrived early to pick me up to take me to claim my prize, but ended up waiting 20 minutes anyway. I finally made it to the YWCA at a quarter to three. I was told the office would be open until four. Low and behold the guy had left early (what is a male doing running what is essentially a women's facility anyway?) But I did get my perishables as they had to be left out in the fridge.
I got a nice bag of fresh spinach, some mint, a big bag of crushed walnuts, a cooking onion (Mom cut it up for me), a small clove of garlic -never seen one that small lol, some curry masala spice (does it ever smell good), green lentils and olive oil from Italy that is only processed by mechanical means -so no additives. and sun dried tomatoes! So I am not a cook, but I am assuming these ingredients are meant to go together to produce a meal. Beyond knowing you put walnuts in a spinach salad, I am not 100 % sure what to do with the sun dried tomatoes and mint, is that for the salad too, or do they go with the lentils?? I am assuming the garlic and onion go with the lentils. I am guessing the olive oil is to spritz on the salad as you don't cook with it.
You see, I am a raw food vegetarian so don't really cook at all if I can avoid it. I depend on Mom for my veggie chili and lentil treats. I don't carry anything for cooking in my apartment -no oil, flour, sugar, etc. So if I need something like soup base to make a masala I will have to go buy some. Stuff I currently have on hand are green beans, sweet potato, bell peppers and carrots..
Suggestions from any foodies out there?
Really tired and sore, hope to hit the sack early tonight..

Started the day taking it easy. Then had Mom's home made Mac & Cheese for lunch -used double cream brie, cream cheese and cheddar cheese, yummy!! Had a cup and a half. This is my all time favorite comfort food and I can't remember when I had it last :) Then we went to Costco where I had to be ultra conservative in my spending as I was getting that broke at the end of the month feeling. I had an interesting sample -a protein bar that actually had 32 g of protein!! never seen one with that high a count. It was 320 calories though, but if you were going on a serious long hike or climb, this would be a great refuel. Sorry, addled brain that I am, can't remember the brand, first time I had seen it there.
Then it was home and I decided I couldn't do nothing and had to work off that lunch, so Mom and I went for a two hour walk and hike (took the paved path one way and the rough path back).
The geese and gulls have returned in full force: It was neat seeing the white birds in one area of the sandbar and the dark birds in the other..

It was a dull dreary overcast day for most of my four day stay..
Then it was off to my brother's where supper was home made white buns with real butter, pulled pork and boiled broccoli, cauliflower and baby cut carrots. Dessert was a kind of parfait, made out of a two bite brownie, chocolate pudding, cherry pie filling and whipping cream on top, was good :)
Didn't stay to play cards, had too much stuff to haul home from Mom's, as well as I had to go to the club to set up for the game I direct on Monday. When I got home, I checked my messages.
The seventh and last message said I won the grand prize package of the Health & Wellness Fair! Involves a one year membership to the YWCA, towel service & locker and three sessions with a personal trainer! I could not believe it! I NEVER win anything! Ironically, this would be difficult for me to utilize as the location is far away from me and would be difficult to find the time for all the bus transfers it would take to get there. Buses on my side of town run every hour and never meet transfers downtown, they are a pain. But also, I already qualified for a free pass to the City's fitness facilities which are much closer to me. I don't know if they will do it, but I am going to see if they will let my Mom have it in my place, I can only hope.
Giving thanks my special friend Lori was not seriously hurt in a horrible car wreck. Spark on Lori!

It was a lot smaller then I expected. One display for organic fair trade coffee, three displays on Moms to be, footwear, climbing, a new local wellness magazine, MS display, A personal trainer demostrating a swiss ball as well as a bosu. I tried both and on the bosu was able to balance on one leg. I couldn't quite get the hang of picking both feet up off the ground on the Swiss ball. Then there was a hooping display. The room was way too small to demostrate it here, so they went to the gym. I tried the hooping, didn't do the worst, but I couldn't seem to stop it from riding up higher on me -most had trouble with it dropping. Its actually harder then it looks, I found it tough. Tried to get the hang of it for 15 minutes, dropped a few times. Then I was running out of time to make it to My Curves Zumba. I made it just as they were going into the second machine, so I stayed at the end to get the machine I missed. The Zumba class was small and a good thing as there wasn't much space to move in -the second class only had three people!
Enjoyed myself this morning, although the cold and new snow wasn't very welcome, we will probably go for a walk later today!
