My morning started out pleasant enough, enjoying my exercise and getting the bonus of spotting the rabbit while I was on the bike in my building's exercise room! He was all white and I was thinking he better get that brown fur in quickly at the rate our snow is melting!
So was preparing breakfast after my workouts when the cigarette smoke started pouring in. The wind had come in a hurry :( I had my window wide open and it did nothing, blowing the wrong way, so opened my door to try get it out, but it was strong in the hallway too. Eventually, though the draft went through my apartment , pulling it out and I could breathe easier.
Then it was off to the club to direct the senior's game. It was my day to be dumb. A lady came in and dropped off lunch for a guy who had forgotten it. Wouldn't you know, when I called the lunch break, I went and gave it to the wrong guy!! The guy who it belonged to had rushed out to buy himself lunch somewhere! emoticon emoticon emoticon
Then I took a director call from the dragon lady -and of course screwed it up *sigh*, but remarkably, she let me off easy, very unlike her as she is the type to relish in every little fault she can find with me.. But still, I hate making the error :(( I also gave a wrong call with another lady, one of my favorite partners, but fortunately, it didn't hurt things as they got to where they were supposed to. But sometimes I have to wonder where my head is at.
Wanted to do Zumba tomorrow night, but my Uncle called wanting to go to the casino for his birthday month -free cake and ice cream and beverage and he gets a gift and a chance for some more free slot plays. I have low tolerance for casinos, I will play the $5 in free coin I get and then when that is gone, will just watch others play. His birthday was March 5th and I forgot. I have to go through all my birthdays of my relatives and put them on Spark People's appointment reminders in their daily planner so I won't forget them.
I seem to forget so much these days..

    Well, bless your heart....sounds like the PITS....with that smoke. Crazy that they have not made your building smoke free, here in the states, there are very few places for smokers anymore...

I have birthdays programed here, and it really DOES help. March 5th. was my MIL's birthday....I had trouble remembering when she was alive....but now, I know she would have been 93...WOW....

    Don't worry about being forgetful. I do understand that with our RA meds. that they can cause this side effect, so that's part of the program. I sure find myself being that way too alot, so I usually excuse it to my meds! emoticon It's been extremely windy here too all day! emoticon Spring will soon be here!

Sunday, Sunny and Warm :)

I was very surprised not to feel too bad when I woke up this morning. I also had 'slept in' as the water class didn't start until 10 am, so I probably got about 6.5 hours broken sleep. Maybe it was the extra time on my heating pads that soothed any aches I might have had from my busy day yesterday..
It was wonderful getting back in the water for aerobics, but not as comfortable as I would like. I could feel my hip muscles on some of the movements and also I could feel my ankles tightening up. I did 45 minutes of the class until I got out because I felt I was close to a cramp coming as my ankle muscles really were tightening up. As soon as I hit the hot tub, they relaxed though. To me, the water felt cold, and that probably doesn't help as I tend to lock up when I am cold.
It was home to Mom's to read for a spell -starting Malice by Lisa Jackson, good so far. Then Mom and I headed out into the sunshine for a walk along the river. Was tough getting there as there was water running everywhere or slush and ice to contend with. When we finally hit the trail, there was no ice, but water and mud from snow melt was running over it constantly.
As it was such a warm (6 C 43 F) day, tons of people were walking the trail, families and dog walkers were out and I enjoyed seeing all the dogs :) Some boys were even wearing shorts!!
I was miffed to see someone had gotten a photo of the porcupine on the Weather Network's page from Saskatoon -lucky so and so, also, someone from a small town just outside of Saskatoon got a great shot of the aurora borealis -very spectacular thanks to that huge solar flare.. I am at a lousy part of Saskatoon to see them, too many bright lights here. I did see some faintly when I was at Mom's once, but my photo didn't turn out as the lights interfered with the focus.

    I had read that the solar flare would make for seeing the Auroa Borealis alot futher south....not this far south darn. Bet it was beautiful!

As for the slush and mush, I gather you had boots on?!

Can't get over all the folk out on a sunny but COLD day, getting outdoors and enjoying the respite from nasty weather. I know your seasons are short, but you folk do know how to enjoy what you have!!!

BTW, so GLAD you got so much sleep!! WOW!

    I used to live near the Mendenhall Glacier outside Juneau, AK. Back then, there were not a lot of lights, so I got to see some of the Northern Lights. I understand that area has been "developed" and I would bet the glimpses I got are now increasingly rare!

I started out my early morning with some Nordic walking, then 30 minutes on the bike, 30 on the elliptical of intervals, interspersed with my strength training PT exercises, crunches with a weight on my chest, a constant bridge while doing hamstring pulls on the ball. The usual side leg raises with 5 lb weights, ditto with clamshells. I was wanting a good workout. I wasn't feeling all that well, but I was determined to get to Zumba at 10 am this morning, so I took some painkillers. Its been a long time since I bothered. It gave me the boost I needed to move it. The morning was pleasant and sunny. The snow had been melting, and the field and hill I had to cross to get to my Curves had crusted snow I had to push through. It came up to just past my ankle. It was hard work, like doing a high step march with some force to step down through the crust of snow. I enjoyed my Zumba, but the rust was sure showing. I stayed for the second class, following along the dance moves trying to get them down, but not doing the machines.
Went home and did a thorough vacuum. I had lunch and then it was grocery shopping time. I had to do some veggie prep and then hit the shower. As soon as I see the laundry room free, it will be about three loads worth.
A productive, busy day, but no guarantees how I will wake up the next day. I am hoping maybe to hit the pool and hot tub tomorrow.
There is no question I feel better moving around and being active then just sitting around. No sign of those cramps while moving. No aches as long as I am a going concern!
I love doing things with my music thumping away in the background. I like upbeat, fast rock music with a beat. I don't feel tired or fatigued in spite of only three broken hours of sleep. I am having my raw green tea at noon in hopes that will keep me alert and not so tired in the afternoon. The latest information says NOT to take naps, but to try establish a regular sleep wake cycle. I am willing to try anything, but oh does that bed beckon me sometimes!!

    I think listening to your body and sleeping when you are able to is going to work best for you. Whatever studies you're reading are not taking into account all you have going on in your life.

    The only way I get through some kickboxing classes is getting lost in the music, especially if it is something I like. In a few weeks, I'll be switching over to outside exercise and hoping to see a lot of wildlife.

You are awesome the way you keep pushing yourself to get in your exercise. Your determination is really paying off.

After sitting quietly this morning waiting for the Fosomax to absorb, I just did 30 minutes on the bike and 30 on the elliptical and as it was eight am already, had to have breakfast, not wanting it to be too close to my lunch. The usual shower, breakfast, wash dishes, clean veggies for lunch, then lunch and off to bridge. It wasn't too bad going this time.
We had a 56% game, good enough for 2nd, but could have been much, much better. I made about six defensive errors, costing us lots of tricks and giving us bad boards :( I had some of my raw green tea at noon in the hopes there would be enough caffeine in it to keep me alert. We were sitting in a dark corner in the back of the room and not moving was not good for someone sleep deprived. So a lot of work to do to catch up in the second half of the club championship..
I set up for my Monday game that I work so I won't have to go in on Sunday to do it. When I left the club, I could scarcely believe it -there was a river of water from crub to curb outside the club! There had a been massive melting of the snow!! Puddles of water everywhere! No where for it to absorb in as the ground is still frozen. Mom thought if the temperatures got up too high it would be too messy to hike the trails. For sure what snow there was left will be packed down and melted into ice. All the run off I saw going across the sidewalks and pooling in the driveways, I will be happy not to go to the club this weekend..
Not sure what my weekend plans are other than getting some groceries.

    Surprises me you still take Fosamax. That drug has not proved to be effective for our bones....in fact the Dentist asked specifically if I had taken it, as it softens the jaw bones....good grief.....

    I never learned to love the spring until I lived in the south. The melting, muddy mess that is the dregs of mountains of snow . . . not a fan. :)

Great that you were able to get set up ahead of time so you don't have to go in this weekend. Doesn't sound like the best time to have to be traveling any more than you have to - unless you happen to own a boat that you haven't mentioned. :-D

I did my 30 min on the elliptical and 30 on the bike as usual, then I was expecting to go to Curves Zumba, but it was cancelled :( Caught up on some reading, breakfast, cleaned some veggies then lunch and off to the club. It was very icy out since it was actually melting after the snowfall. The intersections were especially bad. On bare ice, none of those fancy attachments to shoes work, in fact they are more of a hazard. What runners wear here are actual spikes, that are individually replaceable. Naturally, the running stores were unable to keep them in stock.
Was a rather a quiet and boring day at the club, only four tables and they were looking after themselves! So I did catch up on Sparking. I came home and had thoughts of going to Curves, but just didn't feel like it.
My lower legs feel like heck, that if I so much as move them the wrong way they will go into cramp mode. I can't even sit in my easy chair comfortably. My heels hang over the foot rest and they feel like they will trigger any second, so I was restless, getting up and standing to ease the feeling. Unfortunately, I can't lift myself in and out of the tub to soak in it :( There are no handrails,but also I am not supposed to lift more than five pounds with my elbow replacements anyway. It would be too risky with the new hip to try wrangle myself in somehow. In the summer, I will be able to get to the pools and use the hot tub which will be absolute heaven after taking the land workouts. The earliest I could get in to see my physiotherapist was March 20, only two days before I see my rheumy so it will be wait and see what they suggest. I do see my podiatrist on the 14th, and will be asking for more toe cushions as my big toes have been quiet painful to walk on.
Running late as usual, will be no sleep again as I have to get up early and take my Fosomax and rest quietly for an hour before starting my exercises..Still can't get them done under two and a half hours..

    Even with all the pain you have, you still manage to get your exercises done. I just wish you were able to get some good, restful sleep. Hope the doctors will have some good ideas for you.

    So sorry you continue to ahve physical problems - too bad you don't have one of those 'walk-thru' tubs like I've seen advertised on TV. [although I can imagine they might have trouble with leaks after awhile!!] - also too bad you don't have an indoor pool to use. Seems to me like they would have something like that in your area but apparently not - boohoo!

    I know what you mean about those shoe attachments for ice. They were a total waste of money and I tried all the different ones I could find in Juneau decades ago. I finally gave up! I have flashbacks to those years every time I read about your weather!

    Wow, to wear spiked shoes because of ice....ha....I remember as a kid growing up in Yreka, Cal. slipping and falling on that stuff. Don't remember bruising, but OW that hurt. We never thought of spikes then!

DANG, and you can't get in your tub?! That is the pits. Should be a handi-abled tub!!!

Hey , I read that having some protein at bedtime could help ones sleep. A thought!!!
Peanut butter and a slice of whole wheat bread....or cheese melted on bread....

    I hope you are able to get more comfortable soon. You are very active and maybe you're overtraining. Calcium and magnesium are good for leg cramps. They can test and see if you're lacking. Ask your doctor if they can do that.
