Made It Work Monday!

Monday, December 05, 2011

Woke up at 15 minutes to 4 am, having alept almost five hours before the wake up! Laid quietly and read until Mom got up at 5:30 am. Then I got my exercises done and got my breakfast together. My wonderful Step Dad got up early (7am) so I could use the shower in his room. Then it was icing my hip and then finally off to the bridge club. I didn't get there as early as I would have liked. We made a stop for gas and fortunately, Mom let me pay for it all.
I was in the process of setting up the tables for the game when the early bird came in -a lady who likes to come an hour early so she can put tea on for the game. She helped me set up te rest of the game. It was a huge game -28 tables- but will be nothing compared to the Christmas Luncheon next week will be a zoo. The game ran smoothly, had a few calls, but nothing I couldn't handle. The hip held up and didn't squawk too much. I got one chore done that I wanted to. Had a lot of people welcoming me back, and people were quick to help me out, as in passing the game boards out.
The president announced at lunch time there will be an exterminator coming in next Tuesday for the mouse problem, so to make sure all lunch material was taken home. He also announced the Annual General meeting coming up. I will have to go to the club every single day this week, very inconvenient for my poor Mom driving :(( Got to hope nothing more nasty happens with the weather as she is a nervous enough driver as it is.
Relaxing and Sparking this evening. Tomorrow will be my first phsyio evaulation since the surgery. So early, I have to be there by 8:40 am, the height of rush hour when its still dark, so Mom will have a tough time. She wants to give up driving, but refuses to let my Step Dad drive until his eye is healed and the other one fixed.
Have a good evening and sleep all!
Hugs,
Linda

It is so tough having to drive around in the dark with our days so short right now! Can't believe how busy you keep, even so soon after the surgery. If there's anyone who comes close to moving all day long, it's gotta be you!!

I'm glad your day went well and you had help at the club. It makes a world of difference when some of the load is lightened.

We went out to lunch and visited with friends. The lady and I were in school together from 4th-8th grade and we've kept in touch since. We enjoy each other's company and went to the casino yesterday and lost our shirts. It was fun.

North Idaho is snow free, so I can't snowshoe. Maybe when we come up in Feb. Last year it snow everyday and we didn't leave the parking lot.

I've been swimming and walking for exercise. Went to the weight room twice and I brought DVDs that I haven't used yet, but will.

Sleep tight,
Berta

Sore for Sunday :(

Sunday, December 04, 2011

Hi all! Enjoyed my evening yesterday, everything ran smoothly and people welcomed me back, saying it was good to see me looking so well. They also mentioned they notice how things are when I am not around.. I did over eat a bit, was upset they ran out of cranberry sauce by the time I got to go up, so put a small amount of watery looking gravy on instead -I really wasn't that impressed with the food, except the pomegranite spinach salad was wonderful and I had a good serving of it. The vegeatbles were way over cooked and faded (the standard carrots, beans so I did not eat them and had mashed potatoes instead as well as a generous helping of the cauliflower broccoli salad. I had a small amount of coleslaw and wasn't impressed with it. The buns were not home made as far as I could tell, but at least they had wheat available and not just white.
My reward was a sore spot I nursed in my hip all day. I can do all my physiotherapy exercises with no discomfort what so ever. It hurts the most when I walk. I hope its gone for tomorrow, because I will do a lot of walking setting up the game. So today was mostly a lie and sit around day, resting..
Hope you have a good sleep, and a Marvelous Monday!
Hugs,
Linda

I'm glad you're mobile and not hurtine badly. Sore is a lot different than intense pain. Sorry your dinner was not impressive. I love pomegramote and pineapple together and it looks pretty. I'm thinking of making that for Christmas dinner.

Hope your soreness is gone and sleep tight.

Super Saturday

Saturday, December 03, 2011

I enjoyed my trip to Costco today. Was crazy busy, but fortunately I got a cart to look around with. My brother, his daughter and my Mom all had lunch while I got to take my time looking around. Lots of specials, but nothing I could live without. Saw two different lights claiming to replace sunlight and help with seasonal blues. One was blue and the other was a Verilux, like a lamp I already have, but its not claiming to be a sunlight replacer.
I got a number of nice samples, including a jalapeño hummus and a pepper jelly I really liked.
I had a nice long, hot shower, relaxed, watched a good BBC movie called Billy Elliot, about a boy who prefered to dance rather than box, much to his father and brother's opposition.
Looking forward to the turkey supper and bridge game tonight.
Have a good evening and sleeps all!
Hugs,
Linda

Sounds like a great day! I've seen "Billy Elliott" on dvd and really enjoyed it. The writer of that story has a new movie coming out soon about a young boy who loses his father on September 11th and finds a key that belonged to his father. He searches the city meeting all kinds of people, believing his father meant for him to find out what needed to be opened with that key.

I haven't tried that kind of hummus yet but I just might have to try it.

Loved that movie, Linda! It's a heartwarming tearjerker for sure!

I know the feeling of going in a store and determining that there's nothing you can't live without, but we did treat me to an iPhone yesterday. Now I just have to learn how to use it!

Sore Day

Friday, December 02, 2011

Went and got my month end done no problems, the went home and got the reports and some other things ready and discovered I kept having to get up between my business computer and my old computer and getting things. I also had to walk outside and go snail mail a report the treasurer forgot to send. I felt sore after all these up and downs. I spent from 11 am until 3 pm on my outing. Tomorrow, with the Christmas party, it will be even longer, as I will attend the social and dinner, then play bridge and help direct.
I picked my outfit out and hope it will fit. I asked my caretaker if my mail box could be moved from the absolute bottom row to the top, and she said there was no room. Who ever heard of the 100 main floor numbers being on the bottom?? It was like that in my old apartment too. I can't bend that low, so I guess I will be stuck asking who ever is around to check my mail for me.
I hope I can sleep tonight, need all the rest I can get, but am having trouble getting comfy.
Hope you all have good sleeps, and a fabulous weekend!
Hugs,
Linda

Get a DR. order for that mailbox change. SOMEONE there does NOT have the problem you have, and there is NO reason they could not switch. There is bound to be someone in the building nice enough to be willing to change. Maybe there is a billboard where you could post a request?!

I hate when they put anything on the bottom! Even stores put the larger sizes on the bottom-do they know how hard it is to bend when you are fat?! Maybe they do it for meaness!
Hope you have a better day tomorrow and enjoy your party! Sometimes when I play soothing music as I am attempting to sleep, it helps lull me to sleep! Hope you sleep well! emoticon

Terrific Thursday!

Thursday, December 01, 2011

It was a nice sunny day and I had my first shower. It went well and I felt great, strong and stable. I wasn't tired after. It didn't bother me at all.
My step dad had his cateract removed and is sleeping and resting in his room. He has to see the Dr. tomorrow for a infection check and is planning to take the bus!! I so wish my Mom wasn't so nervous driving. I have to search for rides this week as the lady I was hoping for is taking someone else. No one else lives close, they are all on the opposite side of the river. My step dad was told to consider himself incapacitated for two days. I am not sure Mom will still like him driving after that..
Tomorrow my treasurer will pick me up and help me with month end. I then plan to stay the afternoon in my apartment working on reports so they will be ready for both the annual meeting and the officer meeting. Saturday is the Christmas party. I am not sure if one of the few good pants I have will fit over that fat hip of mine :( But I need to dress up for it. My old sweatpants don't cut it :P
Enjoy your evening, good sleeps all!
Hugs,
Linda
