Week 1

Monday, January 12, 2009

Well week 1 is over complete with all its challenges like traveling to Colorado for a funeral and trying to avoid all the foods. I did pretty good if I do say so myself. Mom's on a diet too so that helped. I busted my 6 day streak of Alcohol Free days by having 3 glasses of wine that my cousin's winery makes. I couldn't pass that up, but I even logged it and stayed within my calorie range. I lost three pounds this week emoticon That might seem like a SP no-no to lose more than two, but as a percentage of my total, I'm pretty happy.

While at my moms she showed me her Wii Fit. After literally scouring Phoenix and Craiglist, I am now the proud owner of Wii Fit. It's pretty fun which keeps me motivated. I HATE running and anything non-competitive for exercise. Maybe this will give me a motivation boost when working out alone.

Gotta love MRSZONIE. I showed her SP and she's up and running. Great to have a partner to do this with. I find I'm really short on time to Blog as I barely have enough time to log my calories, but I do that religiously now.

Here's to many more productive weeks.

The day is finally here

Monday, January 05, 2009

I've been setting myself up for this day for the last week. Getting ready to cut back (out) the booze, eat better again. It seemed last night I couldn't get to sleep I was so ready to commit to doing this today. I've been AF for three days now, which is a big deal for me. It's really a good thing to wake up and not curse daylight for the headache it used to bring.

I tried to get some SP workout videos on my Tivo in the living room since I don't the neighbors seeing my flab bouncing all around in the office window like some suburban nightmare. That didn't work so I trotted 2 miles around the neighborhood in my sweats and a T. Don't know which is worse.

Spent last night cooking my meals and getting them ready for the week. Turned out pretty well if I do say so myself. Never thought of myself as the Barney Rubble kind of guy taking a lunch pail to work but at least I don't propel my truck with my feet. (thinking, hey..new exercise).

Hoping I can somehow keep this up this weekend. Grandpa died and I'll be going to Colorado for the funeral and staying with relatives. I refuse to let the first setback knock me off-track. I'll deal with it and manage the food pushers gently. If not I'll politely point out that if I continue to eat the junk they are pushing, they'll be at my funeral next lining up the next victim! emoticon

Good for you! I know the struggle of giving up the alcohol but I find that I sleep much better when I don't drink. I'm sorry for our loss and I think your determination to politely refuse the offerings of food after the funeral will pay off big time!

Good luck!
