Thursday, August 01, 2013

Well in April I decided after 2 years of Zumba a few times a week and free weights on the floor at my gym a few days a week I was BURNT out and ready to switch it up !
I have to say the change has been more than GREAT ! I encourage you all to try a Brand new routine to keep your body guessing !
I hadn't done Yoga emoticon on a regular basis for probably 10 years and boy did I know it for the first month . I am so glad I stayed with the practice however , because I see a huge difference in my aibility to do the poses and the richness it provides in my life. It's a time I am able be completely Mindful... and I like that .
Les Mills Body pump emoticon is just FUN ! Lifting weights in a group with great loud music is my cup of Tea...for sure . And the hour goes by sooo fast !

Having a great Summer and hope you all are too !

Wow ...Been a while

My 2012 Update! Sorry it took soooo long...
I lost a total of 17 pounds last year , and have kept 13 of it off ! Of which I feel very good and am proud of myself for accomplishing I would like to lose just 5 to 10 more ....

The big deal for me was weight gain after quitting smoking. That was 5 1/2 years ago . The cravings were still very strong for the first 4 years. So....not the promised "2 weeks out of your system" lie that your hear from " professionals" . ( Who never smoked a day in their life )

Anyway ....that is behind me .

The tools that worked best for me in losing and managing my weight loss so far would be:

1. " Variety". I need to switch it up ! Vegetables , recipes ......Very Important !

2. Pre- preparing "go to" foods . Once a week I fill a huge tupperware container with salad using 5 to 7 vegetables and store sealed ...... stays for a week in the refrigerator. Always have the ease to create a great Salad everyday . Experiment with dressings !
-Boiled Eggs in fridge on hand.. always
-Keep Fridge stocked with pre cooked ground Turkey, Chicken breasts
- Freezer stocked with Fish Filet's , meatballs , turkey sausage all from costco
- Almond Milk... Got have that Latte first thing in the AM
- Fat is good ....sugar , an indulgence
-Apples.....cold and Crisp A staple !

3. It's all about how I FEEL in my body. Feeling light is the goal .

4. Learning to Socialize in a functional way . For me , Indulging in that glass of wine, or not being afraid to go out to happy hour with friends ...trusting that water always finds it's own level at the end of the day . After all aren't friends , family and relationships where it's at anyway?

5. It;s not so much what I eat today , but the entire week total that matters

6. No Hurry. Just progress

7. Eat frequently throughout the day....unless your full , then wait

6.Read the other success stories on this site . Try to find someone you have the most in common with, ie weight loss goals, lifestyle etc. That helps to kickstart and pull you up when you need it the most.

7. When you have lost 10% of your weight ...celebrate it ! If you can keep that off it's a great accomplishment ! I believe that

8 I have to give credit to the primal Blueprint...and use it when needed. Taught me alot on how to stay satiated. The Best ground work I ever did ! Recommend it Highly !

9. Tracking ...calories AND carbs. Finding the magic number...your magic number

10. Weighing everyday works for me ....at least I measure my waist , which keeps me motivated

So I am gonna be content and happy with MY accomplishment so far ... going back to what works for me, I know when I don't have these things in place I go back to eating on the fly.

And thanks to all my spark friends who have kept in touch and just by doing that , have motivated me everyday !

Just know ...you will get there

Update on my progress April 17th 2011

Sunday, April 17, 2011

April 17th 2011 Update ****
My primal blueprint that I started December 28th 2010 has morphed in to an eating lifestyle that Is really working for me .
I honestly don't have any cravings for food like I used to and the constant obsession with "what can I eat next" is ..just .... gone !
I look forward to each day now instead of dreading it . Starting each day now is easy and fun because my clothes are starting to fit nice again and I actually have great food waiting for me throughout the whole day, and real treats that I can look forward to . Treats that I like ... not what I am told I should like . I don't stress now . And of course the tracking has been a lifesaver and the great motivational stories and blogs I read every day keep my head where it should be .
Now that I have lost 12 pounds with maybe 10 or 15 to go I can say that this is getting to be more of a "fun" phase for me . Because not only have I found what works for me ,but there is a " trust" in the process now that I did not have before ... and finally...... I am feeling and seeing real results !
At or above 60 grams of protein a day works well for me ! I also try to stay under 150 grams of carbohydrates and 1650 is my total calorie intake . Lots of Vegetables , fruit and a variety of recipes are keeping it all fresh for me !
SO IT"S ALL TRUE ...just keep at it ! You will find your way !

So far ...REALLY good !

I'm new to Paleo, but have found it works! Your blog sounds a lot like me, too. Great job. You've inspired me to keep going. I love that I just feel good both mentally and physically. WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED? Not me! It's not all about the weight loss anymore, but it's a great bonus!

Great job! emoticon

Out of control to "Just Right "

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

I stopped smoking four years ago. It wasn't easy and while I am grateful I did it , I am now learning how I can also shed the excess weight it created, that makes me feel " less than". Don't like that feeling ...don't want it !
I started here at Sparkpeople in October 2010 and lost 5 lb. the low cal standard way . I then put it back on pretty much right away and was wrestling with an out of control obsession with food .
I stumbled across mark Sission's "Apple a day" website in early December 2010, and finally made the commitment and started the eating lifestyle December, 28th .
Before I stared the primal Blueprint way of eating though , I instinctively knew I had to detoxify , since my cravings were so fierce and so I flooded my body with Protein for two day's first to get rid of the sugar cravings and then I was off.
I feel a mental and physical contentment from this way of eating that seems to be adding momentum in all ways in my life .So far soooo good !
