So today was the last workout this week for Making the Cut, and that brings an end to Week 2! WOOT! :D
I'm really proud of myself for sticking with this -- this is the first time I've done the full program with two reps of each circuit. And I was thinking today about how far I've come that I'm capable of doing what I'm doing right now. Previously I had never attempted doing any other workout on the same day as Making the Cut. It had me TOTALLY WIPED. And that is when I first did it, doing only one rep of each circuit, and more recently when I was only doing it with two workouts a week but two reps of each circuit. I'm not just physically more capable, but I'm mentally tougher when approaching a workout -- I did not previously consider myself capable of working at the level of intensity I have been for as long as I have been. Doing a run right next to MTC, or attending a Cardio Class at the gym and then doing MTC -- just wouldn't have done it. I think I sold myself short a bit. :)
That isn't to say I WANT to push at this level forever -- It's fun to give myself a challenge every now and again, but I don't think 1.5-2hr workouts 5 days a week is feasible for most people most of the time.
SO! Moving on!
I've registered to run in an 8K in San Diego that will take place the Sunday following the Convention -- I'm SO EXCITED. :)
When I registered it asked for my T-Shirt size and I was like.... should I put small??? I was telling my DH my feelings when making my decision and I was like... I feel like an imposter putting that size down! Like I'm going to arrive and it's going to be like, yeah, no, DANA ISN'T A SIZE SMALL. Go back to your old standard XL. UGH. NO. This is who I am now and if I get larger than a Small Size of a generic Adult T-Shirt it will be baggy and I want it to at least come close to FITTING ya know? My DH was like - I already feel like I'm folding children's clothes. HAHAHAA anyway.
I'm VERY excited for this weekend!!! :D
Tonight -- DDR (DaNCE DANCE REVOLUTION!) Party! :D WOOT! I'm thinking about wearing my HRM....
Tomorrow/Sunday - AIR SHOW! :D There is a big Air Show in town this weekend -- not sure if we'll go on Saturday or Sunday, but the Blue Angels are flying and it's near my work -- so starting yesterday we've been hearing them flying back and forth overhead preparing and it's getting me so jazzed about it. :D I've never been to one!!!! And I grew up near an Army Base that had one at least once every year... so yeah. I want to finally go!
Also on Saturday - RUN 25min.
Sunday - Yoga and Pilates -- My gym buddy and I will not be going to Pilates on Saturday, but to the Sunday class instead. I've been meaning to check out the Yoga classes at my gym and there's one in the same studio right before Pilates so I'm just going to go earlier and go to that as well. I'm very excited for it! :D
That's it for now!!!
ONE MORE THING.
Fiber: too much?
I need to research this some more. I've been using that Daily Feedback tool on the Nutrition Tracker and every day it mentions my fiber being high. This week it's been like 69, 51, 48, 55... like that. The blip of information on the Feedback tool says that "50-60g can cause digestive distress and prevent nutrient absorption." There's also another comment that says make sure to get plenty of water to help flush out excess fiber.
I'm not so worried about the digestive distress because I haven't noticed anything, but I WANT MY NUTRIENTS DARNIT. I eat healthy and I want to get the benefits of it and not let them pass through my system unabsorbed. I need to do a little more research about this beyond the little tidbits provided on the Feedback tool, but does anyone know anything more about this off the top of their heads????
LATER! :) (A long one, I know...)
EDITED TO ADD: In answer to the Fiber Question:
"Including fiber in one's daily diet has definite benefits. However, although very uncommon, fiber has the potential to cause harm if taken in excess of 60 or 70 grams daily.
. . . (stuff here about digestive issues). . .
Fiber speeds the movement of foods through the digestive system. Since iron is mainly absorbed early during digestion, high amounts of fiber may limit the opportunity for the absorption of iron, calcium, and other nutrients. Finally, large amounts of fiber can also cause deficiencies of nutrients and energy by causing one to feel full before enough nutrients have been consumed. Children and elderly persons are especially vulnerable to these concerns, since they eat smaller portion sizes."
SO my conclusion is that lately I've largely increased my overall calorie intake, which proportionately raised my fiber intake, so hopefully I'm not suffering from some of what is mentioned due to smaller portions and not eating enough -- but also I only was over 60 on one day, I think, and mostly was around the 50's. So I will stop worrying! :)
