SWEETZMIX reminded me about this by mentioning it in her blog, but I was really specifically touched by this article in SELF and I intended to link to it in my blog but forgot.

It's called "Diet Regrets" and tag line states: "After gaining and losing 100 pounds, this lifelong emotional eater finally finds love -- and herself."

Anyone who struggles with emotional eating (which is probably 99% of us on Sparks) please read this. Or anyone who is on this weight loss journey and wants to keep it off. This woman is now 75.

    Great article. I liked hearing the point of view from someone that age too; most articles like that seem to be from the perspective of 20 or 30 somethings. It was good to learn something from someone who has had a lot of life experience.

    Thanks for sharing that article. It really does put perspective on why a lot of us do what we do with food...

I read through some of the previous blogs and I'm sorry that your dog has not come home yet. I'm still hoping he will. We had to put our dog to sleep Saturday and it was and is one of the most painful, traumatic things I've ever gone through.

hahaha. Oh man. I played that song in Marching Band for a halftime show and it takes me back.

ANYWAY. Still not feeling 100% hunky dory in the hip area, taking the day off MOSTLY. I did Day one of RANK ONE for the hundredpushups challenge today.

Discovered my form on regular pushups was... um... abysmal/nonexistant. So I'm starting from square one. Might as well -- I don't really want to get to 100 anyway -- just want to have a good solid military style pushup in my repertoire.

Also did the grocery shopping today -- made a list and stuck to it pretty well. :)

OH! LAST NIGHT -- I cooked a recipe from a new cookbook I'm checking out called "Eat, Shrink, and Be Merry!" Or something like that? YEP! FOUND IT!


:D OH MAN. Dinner was DELICIOUS. The recipe I tried was called "Thai Beau" and it was a Thai Coconut Curry w/ Chicken and Peas and Mango! So good.

I'm trying a Thai Coconut Soup w/ Sweet Potatoes and Shrimp this week that I can't remember the name of... and "Timbucktuna" which is a cheesey noodle tuna type dish this week. I'm kind of excited. There are lots of exciting interesting looking recipes in it! I'd recommend checking it out.

Also I've got checked out the Best Life Diet Cookbook, which has some goodlooking recipes, and a cookbook called "The Soul of a New Cuisine: A Discovery of the Foods and Flavors of Africa" that has me excited...


I'm not sure how super healthy some of the meals are, but they are really intriguing me and I hope to make some soon. I checked out a different African cookbook last time but I like this one much better -- it seems more... do-able somehow. I think this author makes better suggestions for substitutions maybe.

Band practice was KILLER last night. I'm sure I burned some calories. My lips were sore. I'd like to measure the burn some night but I think I'd like to also measure what sitting doing nothing burns for comparison. :) HAHAHA.

MEGA sore...

Hmmm I think I screwed up my left hip/butt/thigh/something muscles in Pilates on Saturday, I'm very sore to the point of being painful and not burning -- not sure if I pulled something or what but it does feel better when I stretch it out.

Probably taking today off.

Well crap. I was just about to post some pictures but it looks like they didn't upload afterall. GRRR. :P

Anyway. Not much to say. Oscars were fun.

How would the arc trainer feel? Get some blood pumping to the sore areas with no impact? I like that machine for recovery purposes.

YAY JM, my hero, you have succeeded in making sore a part of my body that I have never felt sore in before. HAHAHAHA

Aside from being sore in some of the expected places, I'm also sore on the SIDES of my butt. Yeah. Weird, and maybe TMI, but dang some of those moves toward the end there REALLY target that sidebutt/outerthigh all that good stuff over there. Presumably working on the "saddlebag" area since it's called "No More Trouble Spots" or I think I've been calling it Trouble Zones but whatever it's called. :P Triceps - check, abs - check, chest - check, side butt- check.

I'm super excited to be starting the Hundred Pushup Challenge finally!


I'll be doign it along with my gym buddy, LAFTERSFREE. I've been meaning to do this for AGES and just haven't gotten around to ACTUALLY doing it. SO! She wants to do it and that's my push to get going. I've always wanted to be a pushups rockstar, so here's my chance.

We'll be doing the "test" this weekend and starting the plan on Monday. She'll be doing MWF, I'm considering MW F/S just depending on if I want to do the JM video which includes some pushups and other chest work I don't want to miss my rest day and I don't have time to do that video on Friday morning's really. But anyway. Excited.

And yay for it being FRIDAY. And no work tomorrow.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to upload those pictures yet but they will be there someday! :D

    Those DVDs sound wicked. I want to be sore on my rear too!! haha It needs a lift!! hehe

And thanks for stopping by my blog Ms!! Dana my Diva, u are sO right. I am getting my benefits from exercise but no weight loss cuz I was pigging out. Dana I was sO sloppy. Eating out like no one business, eating out and eating my whole plate half the time. SO NOT COOL! So back on it!!

btw, u know u can get some instant watch JM on netflix right, i forget if u said u bought it or not, but i know u guys have netflix instant watch right..i thought u do... im going to try the JM kickboxing on netflix on sunday. was gonna try tonight.. but.... nahhhhh.

hmm also, i told u im only going to try doing girl pushups right?!?! hahaha just so u know!!! thats a big enough step from wall pushups i figure :) and im so happy we're back on for friday mornings!!! woooot!

    I started the 100 pushups challenge and got to more than 40, but I have a shoulder thing...so I stopped there... Now I do 3 sets of 8 every other day...soon I'll be up to sets of 9... Good Luck with it!!

There is still that little lingering depression, but at least it's in the wings now and on the main stage is positivity.

I got up and did the FULL Jillian Michael's "No Trouble Zones" DVD. I substituted some big pillar candles for dumbbells in some sets to be able to manage it, but used my 8lbers when I could. :) During Surrenders and sumo squats w/ triceps extensions I just used one dumbbell turned sideways to keep it easier than switching out as well. It was a good DVD. Not the highest calorie burn I ever got, but considering I burned 506 calories in 49.5 minutes not doing any cardio, I'd say that's pretty rockin. I defintiely know I will be feeling the burn from some of those moves that I didn't get to last time.

Last night I DID end up going over on calories. Extra - an apple and a hot dog bun. Shoulda done without the hot dog bun, but not upset about my decision to eat the apple. It was tiny and filling. So maybe 130 cals over, but considering my huge morning I'm pretty impressed with myself.

Have a good plan for today and looking forward to it. Feeling cute and that's always a plus. And tomorrow's FRIDAY and LIBRARY DAY and I don't have to work this weekend! + + + + + + +++++++!

OH: P.S. -- I'm feeling brave today because I'm wearing a shirt that I have previously not worn because I was scared about exposing my loose skin/flab on my upper inner arms. It only shows when I move certain ways and it's not that bad and the shirt is freaking cute so I decided to stop being embarrassed about my body and just DO IT. When I was getting ready to leave my DH was like, "I like that shirt!" :) I did take a couple pictures I'll try to upload later. NOT demonstrating the arm flab, but the cuteness.

  I'm glad you got to wear a cute shirt! I can't wait for this pregnancy to be over so that I can get back into my old clothes (and some smaller, cuter ones as well!) lol. I hope you end up finding your dog. I haven't been on much, but I figured I'd drop in and let you know I'm alive. :D lol.

    im happy you went for it with the shirt! you have so much to be proud of, all of your success with getting your body how you want it to be over the last year.
