What wonders a great workout does for your mind! :D I'm feeling so happy and energized right now. And my protein bar was great for a post workout snack!
It's kinda funny -- I wrapped them individually in wax paper to store, and I dunno if it would 100% hold it's form on it's own after not being refrigerated for an hour+ ... but it was still pretty easy to deal with using the wax paper to hold it. And MMMMMM. Less crunchy after some time melding, but still 100% delicious.
Anyway -- todays workout kind of rocked. Upper body and abs, and then a 20min power yoga hip opening flow courtesy of the Yoga Downloads Video Podcast. It's not reallly a video, but a slideshow to accompany the instructions so there's an image of each pose as the voice describes what to do. This Hip Opening Flow kicks my butt. :P Total cal burn today was about 352... I left my watch in my locker so I don't have the exact number! :( BOO! But it was around 350 anyway, which is awesome for a "non cardio" day. Tomorrow will be lower body and cardio.
I read somewhere that rowing was a knee strengthening exercise yesterday. Weird? Anyway, I'm addicted to it now. :)
Last night's dinner was burgers and Texas Toothpicks. The toothpicks are not super bad nutritionally -- 1 serving is 160 cal and only 6g of fat. It's jalapeno and onion strips breaded/seasoned. I'm pretty sure they're intended to be deepfried, but they also provide baking instructions which is what we used. But I used beef for the burgers and I think my tummy was like WHA??? hahahaha :D They were good, but I am not used to eating beef anymore. It was kind of weird.
I think tonight's dinner will just be some pasta, but later in the week I'll be making this Pork Chops with ginger-apple chutney thing and maple sweet potatoes. I have yet to enter it in the nutrition calculator, but on a glance it looked to be pretty good nutritionally, so I will let you all know how that goes down.

So, I had a major splurge night again Saturday night, but I think I'll be ok. I need to try to keep these splurges down to the minimum, but we got invited to someone's house for them to cook us dinner and I showed no reserve with the desserts and sweets around afterward.
But good healthy day yesterday! :D And I made my first ever Protein Bars! (And made up the recipe, too!)
I call them Heaven's Protein Bars:
HAHAHAHA :D I think I may have used too much in the way of wet ingredients, because they're KINDA soft and sticky, but they definitely hold together and are still somewhat crunchy. Don't know how they'd hold up too long out of the refrigerator -- have yet to test that... but they taste SOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOD. :)
I'm very impressed with myself, in case you couldn't tell.
This morning I weighed high end of maintenance range, but on Saturday morning I weighed in at the low end, so I'm thinking it's just fluctuating, as normal, and we'll see how it goes.
Got a great workout in yesterday at the gym. I NEED to go to the gym to get a good workout now that I'm somewhat limited in what I can do -- the equipment there is really so much more effective at giving me a good calorie burn. I tried to do some stuff at home on Saturday and I was really disappointed with the results -- not that I didn't get some good stuff done. It was something. But the calorie burn could have been a lot higher.
As for my tummy, it felt better over the weekend, but now I am having some sinus issues with the weather change, it recently got kinda cold again. BRRR. I woke up this morning so congested. :( But I took some medicine and here I am at work. I don't really feel SICK, just stuffed up.

My stomach... does not feel quite right today.
I woke up and was like... I'm hungry! and it turned into weird nauseous queasy not quite right feelings.... but I ate... and that felt ok... but now the weird feelings are back.
*UGH* It's annoying.
Um................... I don't really have a lot to say. I haven't worked out again yet (tonight maybe, tomorrow for sure), dinner was delicious last night -- I definitely need to buy that risotto again!!! :D It was so easy and good. And also one day start making my own instead of using a box.
Steel cut oats this morning. And PB and wasa crackers. More oatmeal later today, rolled oats. I'm just not feeling anything "special" today... my tummy feels to precarious to mess with.
I AM excited to go to the library today!!! :D I love the library so much!!!! :D

Well -- other than the fact that I am SUPER sore and have postponed today's workout for a rest day -- I feel pretty great. :) I finally got some errands done today that I've been meaning to get done for a while now, and I took out our nearly overflowing trash, just those kind of things that get shoved to the side a lot of the time for more interesting or exciting things, but still have to get done eventually. :P
I also stopped by the consignment shops to look for a coat, and I found one that is so perfect for me... but it's like my ENTIRE budget for warm clothing... soo....... I didn't get it. But if I change my mind I'm hoping it might still be there, because it's one of the most expensive coats of it's kind in the shop AND it's like a pea green color which I think some others might not appreciate as much as myself. :) So rather than buy it on the spot because I was in a hurry and had to get to work, I decided to think on it and if it gets purchased it's not meant to be. ;) HAHAHA. It has a tag on it that says it was purchased originally for $150, and the sleeves are actually long enough which is awesome. :) But I was hoping to spend more like $20-$30 especially secondhand, instead of the $50 it's marked at. :P That way I have a bit leftover to buy things like thicker tights and long sleeve tops or SOMETHING in that vein... I have like... zero cold weather clothing that fits.
Still have a couple other places to look, though...
ANYWAY!!! Last night's dinner was pasta with a home made sauce (which ROCKED I'm never buying jar sauce again). I mean, I made it from a can of crushed tomatos, but I heated some minced garlic in olive oil and then added the tomatoes, and seasoned them and whatnot. Looking forward to elaborating more on this formula in the future, but so far I'm thinking SUCCESS!!! The food's been nice and simple yesterday and today and I'm feeling much better. :)
I'm thinking tonight will be tilapia, a risotto, and some half ears of corn. :) Pretty stoked to try making this box risotto. :D

SO! No blog yesterday... because less than 2 hours after I got to work I got a call that my friend got some free tickets to see Panic! At The Disco in Atlanta and I was invited. I figured I couldn't get anyone to cover for me at work... BUT I DID!!! A very sweet co-worker agreed to leave and come back later to cover my closing shift so I went! :D
It was a 3.5 hr drive in each direction... but it was so fun. I haven't had any GIRLFRIEND hanging out time like.... almost ever. Since getting married. And anyway, my DH stayed home to be responsible and whatnot and said he didn't mind if I went without him so WOOHOO! :D We got there, danced and screamed like crazy for the full ONE HOUR that Panic played... (so short)... but it was extremely fun. For their last song they covered "Shout!" which was very fun to dance to.
But in healthy news, I ate some very bad crap on the way back from the concert -- we stopped at Denny's and I ordered the smothered cheese fries. (!!!!!!!!) I haven't had anything even remotely LIKE that in AGES and it tasted good, but it did not make my tummy happy and I want nothing more than to eat REALLY CLEAN for the rest of the week.
In other healthy news, I ate well the rest of the day, I also worked out that morning. I got a 279 calorie burn from 26.5 minutes of upper body and abs strength training!!!! That is pretty awesome!!! :D Today I did lower body (very carefully and with no squats) and cardio. I probably spent about 10 minutes doing lower body ST, and then I hit the rowing machine for 15 minutes and the bike for about 10 minutes. A combined burn today of about 357 calories. Both days I stretched out very carefully, and I've also done the muscle rolling thing yesterday and today. Here's to recovery!!!! Tomorrow will be ST again, and then Saturday more ST+Cardio. I'm a little over halfway to my calorie burn goal for the week already.
Today at the gym I was thinking my goal was 1500 calories... but it's actually 1200. *phwew* I was worried I wasn't going to make it but now I feel confident.
And last night's booty shaking must've compensated somewhat for the awful food choice, because this morning my weight was the same as yesterday so that was a relief.
My sides are SO SORE. I don't know if it was from dancing or rowing, but either way, my muscles are reminding me how GOOD it is to do something DIFFERENT every now and again. :D
