Day 4 - still going!

Thursday, December 06, 2012

I got a LITTLE off track last night with my food - but not in a bad way. I ate some extra pesto and croutoncracker thingies. But not crazytown.

I'm back to tracking again today, and right on track to be within range again. WOOHOO! :D

I ran today, 4 miles, and did Making the Cut day 4. I'm modifying a little bit so that I keep with it.

For example, I loathe mountain climbers with all my soul. They are just lame. So I don't do them. But I make myself do the burpees. That is my compromise. I pretty much do everything, but I'm trying to make sure I stick with it at least. I mean, I'm doing the program so I get a good top notch strength training workout in regularly, and to jump right back fully into the ST game. After this month I should be CRAVING it, just like I used to. :) So I'm not worried about cutting out a move here and there, just so long as I'm working every muscle. Jillian Michaels won't be watching me herself and yelling at me. hahahaha

i hate squat thrusts. i can handle mountain climbers and like burpees now (without the jump part though i just go to standing usually). you are doint mtc, amee is starting body revolution and i have been using some old jillian dvd's lately. we should let her know we are her buddies again!

good luck with all those miles this month.

LOL!! Too funny about the mountain climbers! I have found after 20 years of working out, if you hate something, there is probably something else you can do that is just as good that you won't hate so much!

But I will admit, I have not used my Jungle Gym straps in a reeeeaaaaaly long time! :D

Your hate for mountain climbers totally cracks me up! I think burpees rock anyways, so you are getting stronger and more powerful!

I think a goood alternative to mountain climbers are plank jumps- how do you feel about those? Also, a bear crawl here and there... or even a wheelbarrow walk for the real ambitous? There are always squat jumps, 180% jumps and plyo split squats that kill your legs too - just to name a few emoticon

Do what you love and love what you do!

If I ran 4 miles it would straighten out all the pesto I could eat in a week. Good going.

PROJECT GET FIT - RESTART! :)

Monday, December 03, 2012

Yes, I let myself get de-railed by my sister's wedding weekend (I didn't really eat bad at the wedding, it was all the travel and everything else that messed me up), and then Thanksgiving right after.

But I'm restarting.

It's ok. I also just started Making the Cut today.

YES. I did Making the Cut when I lost these lbs the first time, so I'm doing it again.

I'm also going to track all of my food.

I'm also making my ticker actually accurate now that I'm outside of 5, actually 10lbs, from what it said. 185 - I'm trying to re-capture and then go lower!

This morning I weighed 198, and I need to make sure I keep that 100lbs GONE.

So I'm wiping the slate and let's do this. :)

I had eggs and veggies for breakfast with hot sauce. Very nice! My motivational collage is still there in the kitchen to remind me. I've got an accountability buddy on FB and in my BBB sparkTeam and now here on my blog. I think I needed the actual weigh-in accountability public (ish) to help me stick to my guns. So here it is!

Project GET FIT!!!

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

I had a derailment with my sister's wedding this weekend, but now I'm back and yesterday was a good day.

Today will be another good day, and so on.

Thanksgiving will be a free day. I will try to keep portions in mind so I can try everything without being ridonkulous though.

I did walking lunges in the airport last week. So I didn't hit my 2 FULL BODY ST days a week, but I DID get 2 days of ST and my legs certainly felt the lunges - hello glutes!

Joining the 100 pushup challenge with some friends on FB, I think that will help a lot. I'm going to be a little behind because I didn't actually start yesterday, but I will get on track!

I always use airports to workout too :-) I was going to do Yoga one time, but my son stopped me-LOL.

A wedding is one of those special occassions where life is more important- good for you for getting back on track and doing the best you can. As for Thanksgiving, I plan the same type of strategy, a little bit of everything!

Happy Thanksgiving Dana!

Wow- brave soul doing lunges in the airport. But then again, I've seen much weirder.

I think its important to enjoy Thanksgiving in all ways. For me personally, that means trying EVERYTHING... just in little bits. And that also means not gorging myself so that I'm uncomfortable later. And lastly it means that I am proud of my decisions. I can't enjoy the holiday if I regret it the next day. Focus on the important things like family, friends, and company, and you'll be fine!

Focusing on Getting Super Fit Again

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

So I was looking for a particular picture of some cookie decorating party I helped put together a few years ago, and as I was going back and back through all my photos I saw a lot from a time period where I was looking definitely and clearly slimmer and trimmer.

I really liked how those photos looked, and I remember how I felt at that time. I might have gained SOME muscle since then, but mostly I've gained some fat.

I held that lower weight for about a year, then got offtrack when my grandmother died and then I went straight into marathon training right after that, which made it difficult to try to lose the weight. I toyed around with trying to lose the weight a few times since then, but always ended up getting focused on something else. (More running, regattas, moving, etc.) And I lost sight of my goal and my commitment pretty quickly.

Well - I'm ready. I just finished a strong marathon and with that goal out of sight for a while now, I'm facing my first full Vermont winter (and due to a very mild winter last year, maybe my first REAL Vermont winter), and I'm not travelling soon so no desination races in warm climates. There isn't any big running goal to focus on in the near future.

I've felt the need to refocus my weight more to the middle than the top of my BMI range for some time now, and now I really feel I'm ready to do it.

I used the photos from that time frame to make an inspiration collage for myself so that I am looking to re-capture a (recent, reasonable) version of myself, rather than striving for someone ELSE's ideal. I don't think this is the right method for everyone, some people's last photos of themselves at a lower weight were achieved unhealthily, or far too long ago, or whatever, for them to be a good motivator. But for me - this was not too long ago, it was a time when I was sticking to the Spark program very closely, and living a very healthy and active lifestyle.

My goal is to track all but one meal a week, strength train full body at least twice a week, and I've got an additional challenge going to not eat any sweets except for one square of dark chocolate per day at least until Thanksgiving.

I think that last one is helping me keep the rest of my food in check! The strength training is very important to me because that has been lacking for some time and I think twice a week full body is a good, BASIC, goal.

So far I've tracked for 3 days. On one of these days I didn't track dinner - but it wasn't bad. It was a "shepherd's pie" brought home by my husband. The portion size was fairly small/reasonable, and it was simple food I could tell it wasn't very unhealthy. I wasn't sure how to track it, but I believe I would have been within my goals that day. I went about 100 over on Sunday, and 8 over on Monday. So far I think that's really good!

I CAN DO THIS!!!! I will post here more often for accountability. And here is the inspiration collage I made, I hope you can see it....

There are some photos from when I was in San Diego, a couple from my fastest (maybe short, but maybe because I was my lightest? I didn't have a Garmin then) 5K ever, and from the Turkey trot later that same year, when I was heavier, but it's such a nice picture and I ran only 1:30 off of my faux PR, after having turned my ankle at the halfway point and walking a bit. It's a happy picture. In any case, the pictures are all around the same time frame, and lowest weight.

I'm trying to eliminate my vices too. Wine. Ugh. Its just so nice to relax at the end of the day with a glass (or two). But i know where that wine and sugar goes! So that stops. So does the late night eating. We can all do this together! With our powers combined....

LOVE the collage! Love the plan, too! It's important to be in a place where you can reach your goals, otherwise you will just get frustrated. Sounds like you are in that place now, so there will be no stopping you!
