Bust day!! (SD 4)

Friday, August 10, 2012

Shoulda tried to blog early yesterday, I bet it would've helped me stay on track. I had no excuse for it, but yesterday was ridiculous.

I ate way too much food.

Today is going to be spot on!! I'm racing tomorrow morning and I don't need to feel heavy or bloated, or sluggish for poor nutrition choices the day before. The fridge is stocked, I can do this.

Yes you can do this!!! Make up today for yesterday! I just had to fix wednesday because I over ate by an awesome thursday! Drinking plenty of water, fresh lime or lemon juice and fresh green tea helped me feel better and lose some of the bloat.

Family Departing! (SD 3)

Wednesday, August 08, 2012

So my sister leaves today from the airport first, and then my family will hang out a while and get on the road.

We got up early and ran 5 miles, so that was wonderful. We did the trails near my house and went and sat on this pretty part where there are rocks and you can see the lake.

I've never been bold/brave enough to climb down the rocks (it's really not treacherous, that stuff just makes me nervous) on my own, but my sister led the way and we had a nice peaceful few minutes just sitting down there by the lake. I wish I had a picture!

I've been eating too much, I can tell.

Last night it was all Vegetarian Ethiopian food though, and it was sooooooooooooooo good. :)

So too much food, but not too much bad stuff - just overage. I need to get back to tracking. I will feel better able to do this after I'm back in my element and the family is gone.

But now I need to shower!

Sounds pretty... and yummy... lol :)

It sounds so romantic to get up early for a run! I NEVER do that, but always wish I were the one out running when it's early and I'm on my way to work and it's beautiful out and I know it'll be too hot to run later!

Family fun! (Streak Restart - Day 1!)

Monday, August 06, 2012

I've decided I'm sick of the titles being all just Blog streak whatever, but I skipped too many days so I definitely need to re-start now.

So anyway, so much fun with my family. My IT band isn't better, but it isn't any worse, and I ran a LR with my sister (10+) Saturday, 7 miles on Sunday, and 3 miles this morning. So I'm gonna keep working on it, 11 miles tomorrow, 5 miles Wednesday, and then I get a rest day (or maybe two) before my half marathon Saturday. Hopefully that will help me get over the hump with it.

Food has been kinda all over the place - it's tough with people in town, especially really indecisive people. I tried to get us to make a plan in advance but no one really responded to me and when we were here it wasn't any better, so I just had to kinda go with the flow. At least I've been running a lot! :)

So the family is all going to Maine today, staying overnight with someone there, and then coming back tomorrow. They're trying to visit as many Northeastern family connections as possible in this trip. I couldn't make it because there is no room in their vehicle and DH can't get off work and I wasn't going to strand him without a car, so hence the break. They might not have been coming back only my sister didn't drive the whole trip with them, she flew into Connecticut but she'll be flying OUT of VERMONT, so they have to come back. I'm glad because I kinda thought this trip was mostly about seeing me, and using me as an excuse to be able to visit other people, but if they didn't come back it'd almost be more like I was the excuse to visit other people period, and not really visiting me very much at all. :( I thought they'd do Maine before or after Vermont and not right in the middle. But oh well.

We had a lot of good time together already and we'll have some more before they leave.

This morning we went to the chocolate factory.... emoticon

I had a Snickers Marathon Bar "Smart Stuff" bar this morning, then chocolate samples. hahah. So nutritionally kinda questionable, but not calorie heavy for me for a breakfast. I'm excited to kinda eat "normal" for today and tomorrow - we'll go out for dinner Tuesday evening when they get back, but at a place that is pretty easy to eat kinda healthy I think.

Well... I feel caught up here now. :)

I like the devil for the chocolate factory. Muuahaha! Sounds like you are eating fine and with all of your training, you should definitely be creating a deficit. I know I'm super impressed with all your mileage! Keep up the good work!

Blog Streak Day 12!

Friday, August 03, 2012

Family gets here today - so excited.

They were camping on the way up and found out - hey our tent leaks BIG TIME. So they ordered a tent online and rush shipped it HERE, since the next nights they would be staying with someone else and the next time camping would be here. SO!

Still waiting on the tent... eek!

Just did a 5 mile run. My IT band is acting kinda wonky... it doesn't bother me when I'm running so I hope I've caught it early enough to stretch and foam roller and ice and anti-inflammatory it into submission, I really don't need another set back with running right now.

Good luck with the IT band. I find that if I am super pro-active with it the minute it starts to speak up, I can usually head off any issues.

Enjoy your time with your family!

I love my foam roller. My IT band is always knotted up, but the roller helps a lot along with stretching. I use it for my back, quads, hams, and calves also.

Enjoy your family!
