Such a weird day.... feels like Sunday but it's Thursday. Weird mid-week 4th of July craziness. So it kind of almost feels like Monday, too, since DH is getting ready for work and whatnot.
Yesterday I would've been within calories... but I forgot to track a couple things so when I was reviewing it this morning I added them and came in 82 calories over. Not too bad, especially considering I had a BIG BURGER and chips for dinner. :) ohhh yeah. Lean Grass fed beef, baby.
I did strength training yesterday, which I briefly mentioned. Some railing pushups, triceps extensions, some lunges and squats - not sure how many, was kinda following along a bodyrock.tv workout for that part but got disinterested and started doing my own thing after a while. Because after the lunges and squats it was time for burpees and I find those humanly impossible to do well with my height. I hope as I get stronger I will be strong enough to overcome my height disadvantage but shooting my whole body out into a plank is just an overwhelming task. I even tried a sumo squat version as suggested by a friend but that just felt more awkward because of the additional movement required by the leg rotation. She's short what does she know. HAHAHAHA.
Anyway, ok so Tricep Extentions, a couple of halfa$$ed burpees, lunges and squats random, and also I did this thing..
So it's like - you know how when you're doing upward facing dog in a sun salutation and then go back into downward facing dog? It's kinda like that movement, but back and forth, and never lowering the hips all the way to the ground. Not good I think for someone with a bad back to risk because you have to make sure to keep your core strong and engaged the whole time so you don't just sag out at the bottom, but for me, since I'm used to that engaged feeling and have learned how to manage that, I LOVE that movement. So anyway I did a couple sets of those, too.
This morning I did a sluggish 5 miler, but I'm soooooooooo happy I got my run in before the day starts! YAY! :D 3 miles tomorrow, then an off day, then my next half marathon! :) I'm excited but the elevation profile scares me....
I'm going for a new half PR in September, so this race shouldn't mean anything, but after almost surprising myself into a PR in Lake Placid, I kind of want to try for another one anyway... but I'm also starting marathon training and I don't want to self-sabotage by running too hard in a race.... so I dunno. Considering I have a PR attempt in September I kinda think I should just go with the flow and whatever happens happens, but not push it like crazy or anything.
