Wow, had a big week last week afterall- eneded up with almost 37 miles! WOOOHOOO!!!!

Means that for October I have a new monthly mileage PR - 154!!!

Last year, my biggest month during "marathon training" was 143! So this is going perfectly well.

So lots of car related drama and our car not starting AGAIN led to us getting a new car last week! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!

And because I can't post without a tutu pic of myself lately, here's one on a halloween run this weekend with CLOVERR1 - I am a zombie ballerina and she is a gorgeous skeleton chick - corset w/ Xray window and skeleton jumpsuit + awesome skirt and skeleton doggy purse = perfection! :D hehehe.

Got to love the glowing eyes!

Diet Cocoa FAIL

So I had this great plan to make a diet hot chocolate mix at home because the diet version only comes in little boxes of 6 packets and it is expensive and I was sick of it.

So I looked up some recipes and I made this mix. It tasted too milky so I added more chocolate. This weekend at home I looked at the chocolate I bought - awesome Ghiradelli Ground Chocolate and realize it says SWEET in little letters over Ground Chocolate.

I turn the canister around and see that it's 140 cal per 1/4 cup and first ingredient is SUGAR.



I'm hoping I at least saved some money on buying cocoa mixes by making my own. :P

I've got some pictures for you.

First is a new (to me) finish line photo from Tupelo 14.2! :) WOOHOO! There is a similar one I already saw but they caught me at the bottom of my stride so it is not so flattering as gravity is doing it's WORST to me. This one I'm nearly floating so it turned out actually good!

This weekend I did a 14miler for my LR, and on Sunday we headed out to check the "Running Park" and see if the 3 mile loop was doable for me to finish the 50K I'm considering. Determination - I think so! Gonna take some time and think about it and watch the registrants list (it's only open to 100 people - at 48 when I checked yesterday). It's only $15 so I should probably just do it but I'm waiting for a bit.

Saturday night I went to a Halloween dance party at Dance Trance (the place I got my living social deal?). Anyway, it was fun - I was in the back most of the time so I am like the photobomber of every photo I'm in:

(I like that one because I look like I'm so happy I'm practically sleeping)

Sunday was a great homebody day after running - I made chili and bread in the breadmaker. Chili started by soaking and cooking black beans, so it was a big process. I did some knitting, made a hula hoop, and DH and I watched some netflix so we can return our discs and downgrade our membership to save some money and go to streaming only. We almost never use our disc portion of the membership so it only makes sense.

Ended up w/ almost 34 miles last week, so a little less than planned but not by a lot. Still meeting my over 30mpw goal for where I want my base to be at the end of this year. If I average the last 8 weeks that weren't a cutback, taper, or recovery week (so not the weeks surrounding tupelo and not last week) I'm over 30. I'm not sure if the proper way is to still count all the cutback and taper/recovery stuff. If I do just the last 8, no skipping it's 28. So still approaching a solid 30mpw base going into the end of 2011.

    I like the pressure cooker idea from Sharon. I have a friend that swears by hers. I quick soak my beans and then use my rice steamer or crockpot.

    pure cocoa powder..I mix it with a TINY bit of hot/boiling water b/c for some reason dry cocoa will not mix with milk..it just floats.

Anyways, cocoa powder, water to dampen, heat milk in microwave. Then maybe 0.25-0.5 teaspoon of sugar per cup.

Or if you are like me and like to spike your hot chocolate with booze, you can definitely leave out any extra sugar. emoticon

    Your best cocoa value is almond milk unsweetened
chocolate milk. It is awesome at 45 calories for
8 ounces. I am drinking some as I type.

It actually tastes great without sweeteners. I add
a small amount of almond extract. You can add a
little stevia or Truvia if you want it sweeter.

It is a great winter drink! emoticon that
fits into any diet plan.

Also, you should totally invest in a pressure cooker. I got mine for $10 at Target and it cooks dried beans in 20-40 minutes!

Big Week Planned

This is gonna be another big mileage week for me - as big as that 40 miler week would've been without the 5K. So plan is for 36. maybe 37.

Then it will be lowering a bit the next two weeks to prepare for my HALF that is coming up SO SOON. This will be my sister's first half marathon, my running buddy's first half (different race for her though), and I am so excited.

All I can think about these days is running, I think it's early taper madness for my half maybe?

There is ANOTHER picture of Yvonne and I in our tutu's I found. HAHAHA. We are blowin up the internets. So I will share that, too.

Anyway that's all I've got for now. I'm considering registering for a local 50K that is on 12/31 - we're gonna run the route this weekend (3 mile trail loop) and see what this would entail and based upon how much it kicks my butt, I'll go from there.

    Nice "proofs"! I love your little running obsession- I can tell that you got caught the bug- big time! I say go for the 50K - the awesome thing about trail races is that you can take your time with them. That's actually the biggest appeal for me about trails period.

Bonus Tutu Pic!

Also I did 12.76 miles, about 10 on trails on Sunday and followed it up with batchcooking and then yoga.

My arms/back/shoulders are sooooooo sore from yoga! I fell once on the trail and got a scraped knee, so that's a little annoying too but no big deal. Last week was a cut back week finished with over 26 miles, this week should be more like 36 - we'll see! :)

Liz Hurley Ribbon Run 5K - TUTU PICS!

I improved my time from last year by nearly a minute, and I ran my 2nd best 5K time ever! :) I call that a WIN even if I wish I had performed a little better.

Mile splits show that sucked wind in mile 3 but otherwise I'm happy w/ the pace, I think I just let it go a bit in that 3rd mile too much on the uphills:

9:45, 9:59, 10:21 *BOO*, final .15 - 8:42!

WOOHOOO!!! That's a sub 10mm avg pace according to Mr. G. Racewise, it'll be just over since I clocked 3.15 miles on Mr. G vs. the course of 3.1, but still. Time: about 31:23 unofficial.

My Running Buddy beat me by about a minute - so jealous! hahaha but I'm glad she went on. She thought I was right behind her, and I'm glad cause apparently she would've waited for me and I'm glad she didn't. She's got a new PR by about 2 min! :)
