So last night - SPLURGE MEAL.
We went to my favorite Chinese food buffet. I ate too much. Afterward, I was like - yeah yeah, I know I ate too much, but I didn't do so bad did I? I started thinking about what I ate and was like ok not so bad, maybe my stomach is just shrunk OH WAIT that big plate of SUSHI, TOO!
But I did my weigh-in this morning, and it wasn't so bad - 183. Considering I ate out TWICE yesterday, and the later in the day one was a splurge meal at a Chinese food buffet - I'm really impressed that my up fluctuation is still 3.5lbs DOWN from my starting weight for my challenge. :D 4lbs down goal looks GOOD right now.
One of the goals I set in the RockStar challenge also was to make sure I stick to ONLY ONE SPLURGE MEAL A WEEK!
Which means I will be tracking EVERYTHING this week and weekend - and this weekend will be difficult. We have tickets to a soccer game with a free pass to the food tent. I forgot that was this weekend... My goal is to make the most of the calorie burn that morning from my upcoming 10 mile long run and be sure that even if I go over on calories a bit, I don't eat up my deficit, keep as much of it as possible, and still track everything. I always drink water anyway, so no big deal there - I really have no idea what to expect from the food there since we've never been. *shrug* But I will be smart about what I intake and I will track it all! I'm determined not to be swayed from my plan. And we're also probably going to Happy Tummy, but I know I can choose wisely there and track within ranges as well.
This morning was a 4 miler on schedule, I got 3.95 - close enough. Since my schedule this week was 3/5/4 and I got 3.1/5.5 - I figure .05 of a mile is just FINE to leave off this morning. :)
I did my stretching, including a couple of moments in triangle pose on each side to fulfill the daily yoga challenge. This week the challenge pose is Crow - but I need to work on that at home w/ blankets and stuff in case I fall over. HAHAHA
I also pulled out the old freestyle trainer straps and did a quick workout - SUPER QUICK. But the straps ARE fast because you can easily move from exercise to exercise:
Then some nice deep lunges w/ the straps overhead - just to stretch out, not repeated for strength, just holding a nice stretch.
Um. My nephew is MEGA SUPER CUTE, btw.

So... yesterday did NOT go as planned.
I found out that no you CAN'T rollover vacation time without prior management approval, so I have 36 hours of time that are currently in jeopardy. (A request is being reviewed by HR! Wish me luck!)
Then I leave on lunch to go take my trombone to the shop and, WAM -
flat tire/blowout. on the highway. And it's 100+ heat index outside.
I called AAA, and the estimate for the guy to be there was over an hour out. UGH. I called hubby and he said they'd come meet me, but there were some delays and AAA guy came sooner than expected as well, so they ended up meeting me at Sam's Club where we bought a replacement tire.
We're at Sam's and I realize - my beautiful lunch I packed will go un eaten!!! :( WAH!!! We eat from the little food counter up front - I got a Chicken Caesar Salad kit - ate not all the cheese and almost none of the dressing. Used the dressing as kind of a dip for my fork and I really used almost none of it. I can't imagine the calorie count on that dressing - it was super thick and there was a ton of it. My poor salad would have been utterly overwhelmed if I had dumped it on top. It was gross. But my version of eating it was good! Also a soft pretzel and shared churros w/ DH.
Then we took the trombone in and the estimate was about what I expected so we went ahead and left my baby. :( I mean :) . well - I'm glad it's getting repaired, sad that I had to leave my horn!
The up side to yesterday? I knew I wasn't going to make it back to work with any reasonable amount of time left in the day so I called in the rest of the day and got to spend lots of time with DH.
This morning I got up on time, early, for a 5 mile run - my longest mid-week run to date this year! I was a little nervous about it and apparently my nervous legs just started flying - I kept trying to slow down, but the first 3 miles were still below easy pace (around 12mm vs. 12:25-12:55) - after that I made a more marked effort to slow down and hit 12:56, 12:34, 12:11 (last 1/4 mile) so good job there. Tomorrow is 4 and Saturday is 10!!! :D Excited to hit double digits for the first time since the marathon as well! :) (5.55 miles total today)
I did some stretching, then headed home to quickly shower and get on my way, and I see that my SIL is there! YAY! :D She, her man, and her baby - my nephew! - are in town for a visit, and I knew they'd be getting in around the time I'd be getting back from my run, but they beat me. So I briefly got to talk to my SIL and wave at her man and the little man before showering and heading off to work.
AND I just found out my request to rollover time was approved. *PHWEW*
Oh and 180.5 this morning. This is really helping fuel me to want to stay on track! My group at work is going out to lunch today and we're going to IHOP - I researched menu items and picked 4 contenders from the Simple 'n' Fit menu selections to choose from (ranging 400-590 in calories). Woot!

I had a tough time getting my butt out of bed this morning, but I finally made it out to the neighborhood to get in 5K. I was feeling so ready to zone out and get it done, I had the music going and I ran up and down the same street 3+ times to get most of the mileage of today's run. HAHAHA. I usually can't take that, but today I was just not feeling any change in terrain.
I was listening to the DJ Wick-it mix of BigBoi's latest album with the Black Keys latest - please be forwarned if you go look it up, the lyrics are not angelic (*AHEM*). hahaha.
Last night I did my PT exercises and DH massaged out my calves, so I was really ready for the run this morning on that level, and I honestly got enough sleep, I dunno why it was just one of those mornings.
But I started sluggish, and things picked up as I went. By the time I was feeling good the workout was over. HAHAHA.
Weighed this morning - 181.5 ! New lowest weight in recent history!!! I hope this isn't too much of a low fluctuation because that is very exciting to see a number getting so near to the 170's. The pants I'm wearing today feel pretty loose as well, though, so corroboration! HAHA.
I went grocery shopping last night and stocked up on some good foods. Soooo happy to have some fresh fruit, meats, veggies in the house again. Although, last night we ate tuna sandwiches. I didn't feel like cooking something else after batch cooking my chicken for the lunches this week - but still, we're in good shape.
My trombone needs some work on the slide, so I'm taking it into the shop today to get an estimate for the repair on my lunch break. I hope it's not too expensive because I REALLY want to get it fixed. So wish me luck on that front!! If it's too much, I'll have to wait on the repair and let my "Fix Dana's Trombone" fund grow a bit.
I DID take pictures of my new hoop, but they are still on my memory card at home, but I will post at some time. :) OH and re: PT stuff, I've been continuing to take 2 Naproxen Sodium morning and night, but as of a couple days ago I lowered it to one. Last time I dropped it altogether I had pains surfacing right away, so far so good on the reduced dosage so I'll keep it there for a while and hopefully soon only need to use it "as needed".

So I had some deficiencies last week:
Spiritual, and physical. Nutritionally I was doing ok! :)
I had two kind of splurges this weekend, but both were within calories somehow so I'm ok with that!
I haven't weighed since last week cause a houseguest unexpectedly blocked my path to the bathroom where my scale is so......... hopefully I can do that again tomorrow morning.
I didn't get to hoop jam yesterday cause no hoopers showed up!!! Apparently the weather was intimidating them away. I did get to hoop today at lunch, though. I also re-taped my hoop so it is now pink zebra, yellow, and blue. :) I love it. I think other people don't get the color combo, but it's my favorite. hahaha.
I think this will be a great week! I will MAKE it a great week! :)
The retirment community gig went well - it was so cute, 80th birthday party! LOVED IT! I need to take my trombone in to get an estimate on fixing the slide, though - I think I will do that tomorrow during my lunch break.
Going shopping after work to get my food in order. Today I ate some cereal before I left the house, and mostly today I've eaten marathon bars. Some leftover slaw, and a bag of sunchips.

Had a GREAT day yesterday, but it was definitely packed.
In the morning was a run w/ my friend Yvonne from work - we took on a request from Rockstar Challenge head Magda and put on blue to run for SMA awareness:

Anyway - the run went well! I had to leave my friend a bit right at the end just because I felt as though if I slowed down I might stop, and she said to go ahead if I needed to - she really wasn't far behind me, but my calf was starting to feel a bit tight and "faster" - meaning upper end of easy pace range - felt better at that time. Also gave me a chance to really stretch everything out while she was on her way in.
Then when I got home, I stretched even more - did some yoga poses, did my PT exercises, all that good stuff. My hands are getting somewhat better, but they're not all the way there. Still some pain if I use them to lean on (downward dog for example).
Got cleaned up and DH and I headed to the Happy Tummy - my lunch was actually very healthy - baked falafel sandwich (the falafel was barely baked, it was more like a chickpea spread, but it was delicious -so I was happy enough), pita chips w/ "mexigreek dip" which is like black beans and chickpeas and red onions and spinach all mashed together w/ seasonings - split the dip and chips w/ hubby, even though there wasn't a ton of them.
Then there was the Rasberry Habanero Brownie - AMAZING. She basically makes the most amazing brownie cake ever (in a mini pie tin thingie?) and has her homemade habanero preserves exploding from the middle and over the top. I was thoroughly amazed and impressed and was having a total foodgasm over it. HAHAHA I tracked it as two brownies, because that's about what size it was.

I shared about that guy when I got my belt & buckle I think, anyway he made this cool table, there are no photos of it right now, and DH fell in love. We were talking what he might be able to sell it for (they were talking a certain amount), and my DH was like - well I think it's worth (what they said), but I could only afford XX - and he was like - I would TOTALLY let you have it for XX - we'll hook you up. :) So being friends with artists has benefits! Hahaha. But our deal arrangement is secret, of course - still, they sell stuff on Etsy.
Anyway - talked to the girl he shares a studio with and this other chick there about hooping and they are both going to the Hoop Jam in the park today, so now we are, too. YAY! :) I kinda want a new hoop for it, maybe I'll just re-tape my ghetto hoop w/ some cuter tape. Maybe not.
So then we come home and chill out for a while, and then it's off to play my gig at the retirement community - very classy place, it was a resident (and the drummer's mom) 's 80th Birthday Party and SO FUN to play for! :) And I got paid for it, which is a big bonus.
Came home, didn't do much, and then fell asleep. Good day.
So I was planning to count yesterday as a splurge day, but I tried to track everything anyway since my splurge wasn't extensive, and I actually (estimatedly) came within calories! by 3! haha. :D To simplify, I'm rounding up by 3 for my deficit math:
2000+952(run)-1900 = 1052
Weekly Deficit: 2887, Daily Average: 481.16
So, close to 500! However, today I'm not going to be very active, although I will be hooping in the park later... but I'm not expecting a large deficit today. Definitely not one to get me to 3500 calories for the week, but still - I'm very happy with what I have done so far! :)
