ST Fail - but fun night!

Last night I did a QUICK run - return 1.1+ mile was at avg pace of 10:09 and I started it slower than that and sped up. WOOT. But total distance including walking warmup was like 2.25 miles - so not long.

I scrapped ST plans to go to the movies - and then didn't do ST this morning as in my contingency plan because I decided I needed the sleep this morning after a late night last night.

BUT - I am only working a half-day today because I'm going to see.... SPORTS MEDICINE PEOPLE this afternoon for the first time ever - seeking additional help and guidance about my foot/ankle issues. Also my low back/pelvis - I think something is seriously out of wack there. But my appointment today is with foot people and we will go from there. I am actually REALLY nervous about this, but my DH is in full support of me going and I know it's the right thing to do for my long term running health even if I can manage the way things are now - something still isn't quite right and I don't want to just ignore it and cause further problems later on down the road. I have a marathon (or half if need be) to run next Nov! (And hopefully a half THIS Nov as well.) And not to mention all the running I plan to do for the rest of my life!

So anyway - because I'm only working a half day, I will have time to get in some ST later today no problem, so that is the plan for right now.

Wish me luck at "Physio" (as my Canadian friends say)!

(CORRECTED! Apparently it's not "THE Physio" - just Physio! -Thanks ZORBS13! hahaha)

    Good thing you are going to get checked out. I think they will help you a lot & teach you a lot of things to do on your own time to keep everything in check.

I had a fun-filled weekend -

1st - run with the 5K group
2nd - Get started makin hoops while catching up on some TV shows.
3rd - Head out to birthday celebration! Sushi and then Hanging out - yes I ate cake.
4th - Sleeping in
5th - More hoop making
6th - Church
7th - making awesome flatbread pizzas
8th - Tornado Benefit Concert at which there was much hooping
9th - more hoop making.

So there was lots of good stuff, but I'm left feeling a bit tired today.

Today after work it'll be running w/ work folks and then Freestyle Trainer Straps workout - which sounds really good today since I'm feeling a bit tired from the weekend (vs. bodypump) I just need to make sure I REALLY WORK IT with those straps and maybe add some more ST at home to make sure I really get a good muscular workout as well.

Tomorrow will be Zumba and groceries. I need to think more about what I need for the week and I definitely have enough food for dinner tonight so no worries there.

What do you all think of the new food tracker?

    I was totally thinking of you this weekend... we were at a friends' house and they had a HULA HOOP! I hooped up a storm and it was fun!

    Kinda liking the new Food Tracking, at least there will be one less window coming up to crash my IE here at work!
Oh, and thanks for the dinner idea!!! I've been racking my brain on something fast and easy for dinner tonight. I have some unlevened bread at home, and pizza sauce. always have veggies, so I'll pick up some skim mozzarella at lunch and have pizza for dinner!!!

    Very busy weekend indeed. Sometimes I like my weekends to be a little busy b/c with too much idle time, I tend to make not so great choices. Anyway, I kind of liked the old tracker. This one is just jazzed up. Nicer to look at. And I like that now you don't need the popup to add your food.

Had a great time walking and running with the folks from my work - we got a great view of our course and also got to run alongside (opposite direction) from a group doing a race that was TODAY - it was the "Music Moves Me 10K" so there was also music playing all over the place. hahaha - very fun.

I hit a pace I have never seen from my Garmin before and also had dubbed as Zone "Faster Than Me" in Garmin Training Center- sub 7mm. Granted, it was for maybe less than a second.... hahaha but I was between 7-8 for a good portion of my little finishing Sprint, and 7-9 through all of that, as short as it was. Felt GREAT.

Then my run back to the car didn't feel super speedy after that, but it averaged 10:30mm. WOOT. Just 1/4 mile, but still - I'm loving seeing that I'm not always running super slow.

The course for the 5K seems really GOOD, too - so I'm excited about that.

Power Yoga = Awesome. I expected nothing less. I didn't feel like I was a dodo and not up to the challenge of the class, either - which was good! One thing that has ALWAYS caused me problems - side planks - I had to modify and I think I might've been the only one in class for that - but that wasn't a huge part of the class. Another thing I couldn't do - but mostly it was awesomely challenging and still great mind mojo and body mojo and I felt AWESOME afterward. Very positive.

Side Planks - I can't get how to balance on the side of my foot so well. I feel like I could maybe have enough core strength to do it but I just don't feel like I can balance my body on the edge of my foot. I need to work on this. hahaha.

I had to boogie right after the 10k though... my daughter had a tball game scheduled for 9 am... we just made it in time and found out the other team didn't show. bummer :) You coming out for the Cotton Row at the end of the month?

    Side planks rock! I think it's a great start to make sure your alignment is good and then start with a "wide" stance.. once that gets easy, move the foot closer and closer to the other, until they stack!

    Awesome job on the SPEEEEEEEED!!

I had the hardest time figuring out how to do planks, too, but for me, it was more of an issue of not killing my shoulders. I dunno, it all came together and I think they are the best core workout, so hopefully you get it fgured out!

Just tracked some Olive Garden for lunch - my work is bringing it in to reward us for some good performance. :) WOOT! I'm skipping their salad and going to make my own since I have salad stuff in the fridge here - yay! But I did make room for a breadstick.

Chicken and Dumplings turned out great last night - DH was like - "This is so good! This is like - make it for other people when they come over GOOD"


I had a GREAT time Zumba-ing last night - I need to get some new songs again, though, I think. I'd love to be able to do that this weekend to be ready for next week at the earlier time all week. WOOT! But this weekend is also hoop making and a birthday celebration and running the 5K course and all that good stuff. So we'll see.

Tonight - POWER YOGA. I am so scared and excited. hahahaha. I went to this class once when we first got this gym membership and it was tough and awesome - and the instructor is my favorite, Holley - so we'll see how it goes! :)

I think it's the food tracking... or that I'm eating some things similar to what I used to eat? I dunno. But I'm feeling that old SPARK today.

In spite of the fact that I woke up late ( 9 min before I HAD to leave the house or be late!) and got ready SO fast and grabbed some random bits and pieces of food to make today not starving..... hahaha.

But I made it to work on time, and prepared for the day - so all is well.

Got in a good run yesterday - was sooo sore starting out, but running always feels better after a while when I start out sore, everyting feels good later. That's the magic of it all! And I wasn't even going super slow for me - running portion on the way out was average 12:05 min mile and on the way back was 11:51 min mile - not speedy, but that's about last years goal half marathon pace, so it's not slogging either, for me. Went home and got in a SHOWER before I headed back to band. I was a little late, but only a couple of people were there when I got there! IT was strange, most of the rest of the band showed up after about 10-15 min of us waiting and we had a decent rehearsal - really just sight read a bunch of new charts, so it was fun.

Turns out my zumba-ites are returning to me, and that we are changing our start time to much earlier - instead of 6PM, we're planning to start at like 5:15-:20 so I will be able to leave sooner, get home sooner, have more time w/ my hubby and waste less time hanging around after work. It's win win win for me - especially since I'm growing on the idea of going to BodyPump on Monday and Power Yoga on Friday.... :)

I need to make 10 goals today again for the challenge:

1. Start either back at school or personal training certification
2. Be consistent in tracking my food intake (6/7 days a week tracking 100%)
3. Strive to eat primarily from whole foods
4. Cook dinner at least 3x a week - not sandwiches. :) (I love cooking but sometimes I have been slacking in this area - when I cook, we eat better, and I feel better!) I ALWAYS prepare dinner, unless we eat out or eat with the family, but sometimes it's BLT's or grilled cheese and soup and I do not count that as cooking. I will count pasta. haha. But NO SANDWICHES will count as cooking!
5. Finally make some homemade bread, even if it's with the breadmaker.
6. Get back on the water to row at some point within a year - by 5/2012
7. Do my homemade gifts as promised on Facebook!
8. Make something for someone for Christmas. I'm not going to set one of those goals to make something homemade for everyone, it gets overwhelming, but I can manage ONE THING!
9. Finish the Soldier Half Marathon Nov 2011
10. Keep aquajogging occasionall as Cross training - 1x per month
