Just got our power and internet this morning for the first time since last Wednesday -
Let me tell you, we were veryvery blessed. Near us, tree damage, a short drive from us (suburb of our town basically) - total destruction. It could have been really bad for us, but we were spared.
I've basically been luxury camping these days - no power, but we had water (cold only, of course) - we even had a friend that was bringing over a generator to give the fridge a charge. Although we lost most of what was in the freezer, we didn't lose anything in the fridge even.
I've eaten like crap. Balanced with having gone on a run one day and also on Saturday spending the entire day working in someone's yard that was way worse off than we were, in a neighborhood with houses that were utterly destroyed. It's been strange.
But I'm back! Thank you for everyone's concern and those that reached out to see if we were ok. Love you Sparkers!

... and MAN running with boys kicks my butt!
No where near what some other ladies who regularly run with dudes do, but I was the only chick today. I was running on my own out about 8 min and back 10 when I ran into the 2 guys who also help lead c25K work running groups, so I turned around and tried not to rush up behind them but ended up behind them anyway.
Then we were coming up on someone so I sped up to pass them and I guess they took that as a sign to book it to the end of the trail so I was chasing them trying not to let them smoke me and got down to a 7:44 min mile pace for a few seconds there! (YAY Garmin for making me feel good with a pace I can sustain for just a few seconds - hahaha)
Then I managed to slightly turn my ankle walking to my car to get some water (DOH) so I walked it off/shook it out a bit until C25K'ers showed up.
So the people that came were:
1) dude that was barely beginning workout regimen and planned to do a mostly walking workout and
2) dude that was returning to running after a brief layoff before which he was: military running every day 3-5 miles, XC and Track HS-er
So.... I ended up running with #2 and the other guys mostly walked with #1. #2 was trying to kill me I think - honestly we weren't running that fast in the grand scheme of things, but left to my own devices I fall somewhere between 11-12 min mile on a good day, and more like 13-14 on a super easy LONG or bad day.
We were averaging around 10:39 for the whole run -time. We ran out 10 min, took a 2 min breather, and then back 10 min . At one point he was egging me on to pass someone and when we did I got down to sub 8mm pace again for a few seconds. That turkey!
Anyway - covered about 4 miles today, MOST of it running - only about 5min total walking time, so I'm pretty happy with that - I'm gonna definitely be taking it easier on Wednesday!
I also ran 20min yesterday for the first time straight.
After workout today - I did Freestyle Trainer - just a bit. 2 sets each of chest presses and rows to hit front and backside upper body, then one set per leg of single leg squats and one set regular ( all assisted w/ the straps). With the squats it's more of a, go deep backward like you should w/out worrying about falling over cause you can always lean on the straps if you need to but don't if you don't have to kind of thing. Single leg definitely needs more assistance for me than that, but regular I was mostly on my own like I should be. Just waiting to take a shower now. :)

Soooo tonight is a NON LATE NIGHT YAY - hooping&zumba very soon, and then straight home.
We've been having awkward living arrangements due to some work being done in the house and as of last night we're back in our room! YAY! In our bed! YAY! With (almost) all our stuff back there! YAY! hahaha. So that is nice.
I'm tracking right now again, trying to really stay on track - I need the food tracking I think.
Yesterday I stayed home from work to help with the moving our stuff around, but I still headed to the park to meet the running group for C25K and had a lovely run, including a SPRINT TO THE FINISH! I noticed those ahead of me had a much faster turnover - do you know how HARD IT IS to make all the legs of this 6'2" frame turn over fast??? hahahaha my stride got nice and open, but my legs just weren't pumping as fast as I would've liked. Still it was overall a good run AND I headed to the other end of the park as planned and did a little ST w/ my freestyle trainer straps. WOOT!
I am feeling the burn today - wasn't quite really a big full body workout, but I had somewhere to be afterward (which usually isn't the case on Mondays) so I kept it to some upper body exercises and one set of single leg reverse lunge squat thingies. Well I definitely am feeling it un the upper body areas I worked, and my butt, and from the painting I did last weekend in the house my inner thighs got SUPER sore and my hip flexors somehow are sore a touch, maybe from the sprinting yesterday, in any case- loving it.
Can't wait to hit the weights Thursday night. :)

... twice this week.
Good for me I didn't double up calories by ALSO eating my normal healthy dinner - do I get points for that?
My other food has been pretty on point but I have really let the shark week voices and stress talk me into some poor quality food at times this week. Just tracked last night and looks like I was about 100 calories over range.
I was also about 100 over the day before. I think Tuesday I didn't track, but also ate dessert for dinner instead of real food.
I still haven't incorporated Strength Training into my routine. I'm trying to think of a foolproof plan that will let me do full body at once and I'm thinking maybe just 2x a week full body ST? Monday and Thursday?
Thursday can be at the gym between work stuff and Gospel Group. I've been trying going home between and it was nice one week but this week I ended up staying home. Probably good for me, it was a good emotional recharge to spend some fun hang out time with DH. I was thinking to try to make sure I'm not adding extra time EVERY day of the week - so like Tuesday I get to go home earlier (home around 7) and also Friday get home a little earlier (same) then I maybe will feel more motivated about the days that I'm out doing things more, longer. If I wasn't out so late with band two nights a week, I'd consider doing ST in the morning, cardio after work - but I think it's unrealistic for me to plan waking up earlier. I don't think I would do it.
So! Monday after running, ST in the park w/ my Freestyle Trainer Straps.
Thursday after Zumba, ST at the gym w/ weights and whatnot.
I think accomplishing the goal of regular strength training will REALLY give me a boost. I was discussing with a co-worker yesterday how AWESOME Making the Cut is and I was thinking longingly of those workouts, believe it or not. HAHAHA. How they hurt so bad, but felt so good... I miss that I used to push myself that hard in the ST arena. New Rules of Lifting for Women, for example.
I also love how great I felt on Saturday after aquajogging and then yoga - I will definitely be continuing that! Probably eventually transitioning to road running, but we'll see.
