More about the title later...
So Sunday I ran 2 hrs, did our taxes (not submitted yet but I did the figuring) and then went for a 1hr rowing practice with my racing boat. WOOT. That was fun! :)
My food was a little... not super clean yesterday, but not bad either. I stayed within range, got enough protein, all that jazz.
Today's been ok - I got caught on the run this morning and ended up with almost no protein in my breakfast which is unusual, and I'm trending low for the day, but I did manage to get my grocery shopping done and I have a happily stocked kitchen! :D HURRAH!
By request of the hubby I bought some clearance Easter candy, but I'm feeling strong and powerful and I have a team to help to the finish and I'm tracking all my food so I feel ok having that stuff in the house right now. :) I will NOT let these words come back to bite me in the butt either! :D
Tomorrow morning is rowing - then NROL4W, then a run. Then submitting taxes. YEP GET IT DONE.
OK so the title -- I just registered for my first ever half marathon!!!!!! :D
The Locomotive Half and 5K in Kennesaw, GA! :)
I'm very excited... the medal is shaped like a train and it benefits Cystic Fibrosis.
September 19th! :D WOOT!

So.... I did pretty good! :D
According to what I guessed in my nutrition tracker, I was within my ranges even! I had about 2 servings of tortilla chips - one early on, one soon before we left - some of a dip LAFTERSFREE made that I have no idea how to track so I just entered a serving of a 7 layer dip... and I had a small piece of a carrot cake -- it didn't have much frosting on it and it was good! :) Not too sweet, very very light feeling texture in the cake as well. And I ate an orange.
And that's it! :D Not a nutritionally balanced meal or anything, but given the situation I'm very proud of my self-control. If I mis-estimated some things I have actually about 160 cals of cushion right now in my ranges and if I went over, I'm confident it couldn't have been by TOO crazy much because I really felt like I wasn't eating too much food. Ya know?
Annnnd I didn't get much sleep. *zzzz* only 3.5hrs of work to go!

Nothing very exciting to report today since it's a rest day.
I have to say -- the weather is gorgeous today and it's supposed to storm tomorrow. BOO! haha. But I'm working in the morning when it's storming anyway, I hope to be able to do a run in the evening -- should be in the mid to low 70's at that time of day. WOOHOO!
So... JUST SO YOU KNOW. Activia is full of a bunch of stupid ingredients. Soooo not necessary. I stopped eating it back when I decided not to eat fake sugar cause I was eating Activia Light. I started buying the large containers of plain yogurt and adding fruit and I was IN LOVE. Then my DH wanted yogurt so I bought him Activia (no fake sugar just the regular kind) so that he could grab some without dealing with my plain yogurt. And then he wasn't really eating it and I was being lazy and started grabbing it for convenience.
But no more! :) I can do better for myself than that. So less than 5 ingredients I had some cottage cheese + pineapple for my snack instead today. I'll buy some more big yogurt next shopping trip, and YAY strawberries are in season here so probably some of those to go with it.
So today's processed foods so far: 190 cal of Kashi GOLean Crisp Berry Crumble, and 190 calories of Thai Kitchen Bangkok Curry Rice Noodles.
FYI: I dressed up the rice noodles w/ broccoli slaw, black beans, and chicken. :) Sound familiar? Yeah but it tastes sooooo different with the Bangkok Curry flavorings. :) YUM!
The only thing I'm thinking about right now is.... KARAOKE PARTY TONIGHT!
Yeah -- it's LAFTERSFREE's birthday and we're singing the night away... so...................... I'm not sure what food's going to be there but given the host - he usually tends to supply some fruits and veggies actually. So I'm hoping to have some good options, but I will have my gum and water handy as well.
Tomorrow is work, rowing meeting, trying to do our taxes... run in the evening... busy day.

I'm not gonna lie - posting my stats in the Partying Penguins team today for April challenge was tough for me. Not going to post them here.
But to be vague, my weight is up, my inches are some of them up.
The waist through the thighs... maybe my boobies too to be honest but I don't remember that one. But waist/hips/thighs are all up 2 inches each. OUCH! No wonder some of my clothes feel a bit snug.
I'm soooooooo glad I'm starting this challenge -- it's been AGES since I participated in a challenge on SparkPeople and I think it's going to do me a world of good. It's hard to find one I can relate to and I don't want to join one that's just about losing weight because although I'd love it if the number went down, that's not really my focus right now.
I'm full of enthusiasm and excitement and determination for this challenge - don't want to let me little team down - GO BRAVES - and I will try to maintain that enthusiasm as I go.
So far so good on the tracking front -- I also had a wave of inspiration to actually calculate how many calories come from processed food and junk over a week's time frame, so once I get a week of good tracking in I will share those results with you. Last night I added about 120 calories of caramels into the mix - but that was my only indulgence. I am not sure where I want to draw the line on processed foods - does Salsa count? I didn't make it myself.... but it's not exactly super processed either... I figure I'll calculate two ways - one with anything over 5 ingredients considered as processed, and one with only the junk parcelled out.
So yesterday for example - I'm gonna assume my salsa meets the unprocessed criteria, but I had some Kashi Go Lean Crisp w/ cottage cheese - cheese in the un category, Kashi in the processed.... PB and pretzel sticks - pretzel sticks I choose have 5 or less ingredients...I had a salad w/ spinach, chicken, broccoli slaw, and some Litehouse Sesame Ginger dressing - DRESSING is only processed item there APPLE.... my activia would get to count as unprocessed I think... snack of tuna...dinner was rice bowls - ground beef, black beans, brown rice/wheat berries mix, egg on top - and SALSA! and then caramels.
So .... the only JUNK thing would be caramels. Processed- Kashi, Salad dressing.
That's pretty darn good! Calorically, the kashi is 190 cal, dressing 35-40, caramels 120...
So of a 1930 calorie day, 345 or 17.8% came from processed items and 6% from JUNK.
Although I never nailed down an exact ratio that I'd prefer - 80-20 whole to processed, 90-10 or 95-5 good stuff to junk sounds pretty good to me.... I'm looking forward to seeing how a whole week plays out - making sure I really get QUALITY in my diet. Now... today I had a protein smoothie - I guess I need to look at the ingredients on my protein powder...
ANYWAY. I was sooo sore yesterday - DH bought me some Tiger Balm and rubbed down the worst ones last night!!!!! :D WHAT AN ANGEL! hahaa :D I felt sooooo ready to face my workout this morning, it was awesome. Although I have to admit - the burning/freezing sensations were crrraazzzzyyy feeling it definitely worked it's magic.
I did my NROL4W Stage 2 B2 workout, including the sprints at the end. Granted -- I do feel like I've been able to sprint better in workouts where I've been less taxed -- I still felt like I was working to the right level of exertion and really working it throughout my workout today. I've actually exceeded my calorie burn goal for the week already - but given I ate all those donuts Monday night, I'm not stressing any extra burn I will get this weekend with running/rowing/zumba whatever.
My boat for the regatta looks like it'll be a womens 4+ instead of a mixed 4+ as I thought before, either way. KINDA funny I'm gonna be in the BOW SEAT but hey - I actually think it's more challenging to be back there so I feel well trusted :D All of my boatmates can apparently only practice in the afternoon/early evening (typical after work type time) - which for me means SMACK in the middle of my work day. Luckily I spoke with my boss and one of my colleagues who works in the evenings with me and both seem to be cool with allowing some flexibility for me to come in an hour early and have a long lunch on the days we practice. SWEET! :D I loved doing that with running before and it will be so nice to break up the work day with a row!
In wrapping up, I'm sore again - haha - not AS bad this time, though, and looking forward to my OFF day tomorrow.
