Good weekend!

Monday, November 02, 2009

Not so good in the food dept -- I didn't track but I don't think I went over cals by much, but I did very stupidly kind of eat them ALL AT THE SAME TIME. haha I was NOT following my eat every 2-3 hrs plan this weekend. :P But otherwise -- this weekend was great!

Halloween party - you saw some pictures from that! FUN.

Then I got up the next morning and did my long run -- and it went really well. I felt good -- I stopped to walk and drink/gu when I had planned to and not because I was dying. Ya know? I felt pretty strong coming into the end of it, even though I was really tired of running, I didn't feel like I was about to drop or anything. Ya know? I'm feeling sooooo confident about the rest of my training and feeling good feelings about the BIG EVENT itself as well. :)

Last week I walked BEFORE I started timing my run, so I was not including my walking warmup in my time (since it was not part of my distance in my route). ANYWAY -- this time I DID get to park where I wanted so I just started my timer when I started walking my warmup -- and I still finished 11 minutes FASTER than last week. FIFTEEN minutes faster if you take out my 4 min bathroom break near the beginning. :)

The weather was much WORSE (cold and wet!), but I felt stronger and I still did much better. I think my body was less wrecked this week and not to mention I had DONE this before and the training is really working to get me capable of doing these longer distances. WOOHOO! :D

So...... now I just have ONE really long run left before the marathon -- the big 2-0. This week is 13, then the 20, then 13...10... MARATHON. Today is Nov. 2 and the Marathon is Dec 5th!!! Some serious countdown action will be taking place once it gets within 30 days! :P

AND now some more pictures -- I wanted to ask my DH's permission before sharing his Halloween photos but he was SO FREAKING ADORABLE LOOKING. He was a steampunk engineer of some kind, he had more details to it than that, but that's the general idea. :) I drew the designs on the gloves (welder's gloves from Lowe's!) and made the copper thing on his arm. Also I encouraged the purchase of the fake glasses. ;) He doesn't need them in real life.

Hope everyone has a GREAT WEEK!

BE FOREWARNED. There is scary fake gore and violence! :)

What happens when a vampire drinks a zombie's blood??

emoticon Definitely scary! About 5 years ago, my son would have definitely been scared of that getup. (He was afraid of an Aahs! employee wearing a fake piece of glass sticking out of her forehead back then, but at age 10, he's not so scared by the fake gore anymore.)

Good job on the Halloween costume!

(Or the other thing I was thinking of was waterproof grease paint, but that sounds kind of messy and my rash top is brand new and I kind of don't want to smudge it...)

... after this Saturday... I only have ONE more run longer than 13 miles.

*mind boggles* And after two more weeks (on that second week from Sat doing my 20 miler) I start to taper.

This marathon is getting CLOSE, ya'll!!!!!!!!! (does anyone watch ANTM? I was channelling super country girl on that... I love her.)

This morning I went rowing and it lightning'd twice while we were rowing toward the beginning of the row, mostly it drizzled but a couple times it got to light rain... then as soon as we pull up to the dock, torrential downpour, more thunder and lightning... so.... I scrapped the post row run, went home, got some laundry going, showered, got the laundry drying, and hit the bed. I got to sleep a good 2+ hrs and then I woke up to check and it was clear weather. WOOT. But due to the time constraints and location change, I opted for a 3.25 miler instead of the 4.14 miles I would have done, no biggie. One of those 4 milers could have been a 3 miler (according to the Runner's World Training plan instructions for first timers is to change all pace/speed/tempo workouts to an easy 3 OR 4 miler and I changed all of them to 4's).

It was a decent run, I was not really feeling it today but it got done.

Now I get a day off tomorrow -- and get to dress up YAY HALLOWEEN -- and then it's the monster run again Saturday.

BUT!!! Like I said!!! After this week the only runs over 13 miles are TWENTY and then MARATHON. So..... I think looking forward to that information really makes me feel more confident about hacking through this run no matter what. ;) hahaha.

It will be a tough fit because we are supposed to be meeting with my inlaws and inlaw grandparents for lunch and so far my hubby hasn't been able to tell me WHEN that's going to happen, but either way it's just going to be a busy day.

Isn't it amazing that you don't freak out about a 13 miler or even a 20 miler these days? Did you EVER think you would be so nonchalant about thoat kind of distance??

(and I LOVE ANTM...make DH watch it with me every week!)

So what do you dress up as this year???

Another run bites the dust...

.. har har. Get it?

Anyway -- the 7 miler went well this morning -- the weather was FLAWLESS. About 60, low humidity, blue gorgeous skies w/ some pretty white clouds and sunnnny. :)

It was a different experience to run prior to work instead of on my lunch break, but I REALLY LIKED IT. The other way gives me a break in the middle of the day, but I honestly feel I'm waiting for my run the whole first half of the day...

Today I got to get right to it! :) The only downside was that my MP3 player died about halfway through -- oops. But it still was nice. I really actually liked part of the route a lot so that was cool. I will have to add that sometime -- maybe to make my 20mile route...... *gears turning*

Anyway -- not a whole lot else to say. I'm so said that Billy Bell had to leave SYTYCD :( I'm seriously bummed about that. I'm also mad about the guy who had to dance a solo who DIDN'T leave. He should NOT have had to dance for his life or whatever!

Biggest Loser -- What's up with Daniel? I wonder if he's cheating with his food or if there's something really wrong with him?

I brought a can of tuna for my snack later but... I left my can opener at home. OOOPS. So.... hopefully I make it through the day alright. I'm feeling pretty hungry right now but I get to eat lunch in about 30min. We'll see!

OH something I'm excited about -- we ARE going to move from our scary apartment to a super secure gated community apartment for the Spring. We checked it out and although it's teeny compared to our current place, it's sooooooo nice and I'm really looking forward to it. We won't be there long, but it will be worth moving... plus since we'll be moving again soon having packed most of our stuff to keep in storage will only be a benefit for when we have to REALLY relocate for my DH's future career! :)

It sounds like you got something to look forward to--- soo excited for you!
You DH is a PhD student? I thought I read something somewhere... what's his future career?
So weird, but I used to love running in the morning and lately, well, it's hard for me to get up and get running.. ( irrational fear of the dark and cold..) someone needs to kick my butt.. I did have a few great lunch/afternoon runs and found a new kind of confidence with afternoon running, but still... I used to love my morning runs.. strange...
I've done that where I forgot a can opener, but then again, why aren't all cans made with that latch so you don't need an opener? Those work so much better!

Hey girl - I've missed you and your candid blogs. I've been checking in with SP a few times a week but not really reading blogs - or writing too many either. So... another run bites the dust, huh? Cute. You're brave - I CAN'T workout without my music. It is an impossibility. What am I saying? I haven't been working out anyway. I work up a sweat doing the dishes! lol. The first three months I was exhausted beyond belief and now I literally have a hard time breathing just going up the stairs. Apparently my old asthma decided to kick in during pregnancy, but I want to do SOMETHING physical!

BTW - I was wondering about Daniel too! I'd hate to see him go!

Anyway.... glad to see you're still running and such... keep it up. I'll need that inspiration when I get back to the treadmill in May!

Sounds like you had a great run! Glad to hear you were able to get it in early and really enjoy it. And you don't have to wait for it.

On Biggest Loser I think Daniel's body is just trying to catch up with all the loss. Every diet slows down eventually, maybe he's just at that point. At least it's not a plateau!

On SYTYCD I was shocked at the one guy they chose, but part of me thinks that they just wanted to see his amazing dancing. Let's be honest, no one really thought he was the one at risk when he was called.

Hope you can find a way to continue to run in the mornings. Sounds like it just really made your day! Good for you!

I love running first thing in the morning. I feel like it gives me extra energy all day long....you probably get that feeling on the mornings you row.

I watch BL a week delayed on Hulu, and wondered the same thing about Daniel's gain while home. I even wondered if somehow the weights were doctored by the show.

Congrats on the upcoming relocation to Less Scarey Surrounds!

    HOORAY for the good run!

HOORAY for the new apratment!

HOORAY for finding a new route!

Not a SYTYCD or BL fan, so can't address those. But I am happy that your runs are going so well.

Is rowing seson over? Or was the regatta thingy just one competition in a series of 'em?

Ya- what is up with Daniel? I won't be surprised if they bring a doctor in soon to check if there is some reason he's not losing... that is if he really is following the plan. Hopefully he doesn't have a candy stash in his mattress, haha. I heard they have them working out 3 hours a day- there is NO WAY you can do that and not lose!
Your 60 degree run sounds soooo nice. I walk/jogged 3 miles this morning... 34 degrees! The nice thing was that my path I take is on the Sacajawea Heritage Trail along the Columbia River- usually there is tons of people there walking, running, biking. But this morning in the cold I had the entire place to myself ! Well, I had my dog to keep me company :) But it was a treat for me to not have to stop every few minutes to let other dogs sniff his butt, haha
The new place sounds great! Hope you love it!

Congrats on the new digs, Dana! That sounds perfect!

Isn't it irritating when they die half way through? Its like I would rather just have not brought it but now you got it hanging out you :P. Sounds like it did nothing to dampen your spirits though, so yay!

I know I have asked you this before, so apologize, but where did you get your marathon training schedule? I promise to bookmark (assuming it is online).

Glad your run went well! Even without music! I am facing something scary... a half marathon with no music! I'll let you know how it goes! Good news on the apartment!
