Just realized...

Tuesday, July 31, 2007

How much I look like my Mom in that new photo! I seem to look more and more like her as I lose weight.

Getting ready to start a new strength training challenge in August. I'm still tracking food and exercise on a daily basis. And I'm still on a plateau of sorts, but I've just decided to enjoy the view from up here on the way to the next valley. :)

16 Over

Thursday, July 26, 2007

For the first time since joining SP, I'm over my calorie limit! By 16 calories! Our home group had a cookout this evening. Think I should have skipped that last piece of watermelon? ;) Just had to share that...

Bumped my knee today - I seem to be rather clumsy lately and I'm wondering if it's my body getting used to this new weight, or if I'm overtired - or just clumsy lately. Nothing serious - I should still be able to go for our long Nordic walking tour on Saturday. The weather forecast is looking good, too!

A little wink from heaven?

Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Last week I ordered a blouse as a reward for losing 25 pounds and for being on SP for 90 days. It's from Jack Wolkskin and it's made of superlightweight "nano" material that breathes with you - perfect for outdoor exercise. Today, I went to pick up and the price had gone down 11 euros! So not only did I get the shirt but I had 11 euros to add to my Spark "Jar"1!

whoo hoo, go michelle! so what's the spark jar for? future rewards? what a blessing... it's a happy sign that soon enough you'll be able to come back in for another - maybe smaller - blouse. =)

A Spark Jar is a great idea. I'm not so great about rewarding myself. I think if I did something like that I might reward myself more often. Meeting specific goals doesn't seem to get me to thank myself for doing a great job.

Ouch - Schleimbeutelentzündung

Wednesday, July 18, 2007

On the way from the tram to the language school this morning, I slipped sideways off the heel of my summer sandals. No big deal, I thought. But an hour later, I started having some pain in my hip. By the time I left to go home at 4PM, I could hardly walk. Thank the Lord I was able to get in to see the doctor who diagnosed a "Schleimbeutelentzündung" - German for bursitis in the hip. You could also do a very loose translation and call it a "slime bag inflammation" which pretty much describes how I feel about it, and about having to miss my gym workout today. The doctor gave me a shot and a prescription for some cream, and said I might be able to work out as soon as tomorrow...that's what I'm praying for.

On the other hand, maybe this was a hint from the Lord to slow down a bit. So I'm taking that to heart this evening and heading to bed early. We're about to have one of our gorgeous summer sunsets, so I'll go out on the balcony to enjoy that first.

Super Sunday

Sunday, July 15, 2007

As predicted, the weather was hot and sunny for our outdoor service, but with a good breeze that helped keep it from being too extreme - and also kept us running after the sheets of music that were blowing off the music stands and all over the stage! I'm sure I burned a lot of calories leading the praise and worship today, but I don't see that listed on sp anywhere :)

Six people were baptized during the service and all of their testimonies were so moving. These are people who really have made 180° turns, and made decisions to follow Christ, leaving their past lives behind. One of them is the young son of one of the church families, who had turned away from God during his teens. So it was a special blessing for all of us who have been praying for him all these years.
