I've been back from Switzerland for a few days. The trip was a feast in more ways than one: feasting on good food, of course was high on the list. It was also a feast for the eyes - the scenery in the Swiss Alps is everything the postcards promise. It was also a feast for soul and spirit: the fellowship with friends old and new, wonderful times of worshipping the King. I went on a couple of solo hikes that were super - on one I even burned something like 800 calories!
I also had some good times of prayer and insight while I was gone. Nothing surprising, really, just more clarity and focus on things that have been occupying my mind for a long time. For one thing, I realized while I was at this "Time of Refreshing" how important it is to build these times into my day-to-day life and not just let myself get burned out while I look forward to next October! Practically, this means getting to bed earlier which means turning off the puter earlier.
I also felt confirmed that my place is still in Germany right now. It's hard watching my parents go through their struggles from a distance but I can only be involved to the extent that they allow me to be.
I'm blessed to live in a place that has a beauty of it's own, the Rems River valley. The sunset shot was taken on a recent Nordic walking tour. So I'm back "down in the valley", have been catching up on blogs and am now back to tracking food and fitness on SP again today. I got to sleep in this morning, so I've already enjoyed a mini time of refreshing!

I'll be on vacation for the next few days, going to a retreat in the Swiss Alps. It's called "Time of Refreshing" and I know that it will be just that for me. I'm taking the train. It's a 7-hour ride, so there will be lots of time for reading, listening to music, daydreaming and snoozing. I will need to pay attention because I have to change trains 4 times and don't want to miss any connections! I know the route, though, having been to the same location about 6 times before.
At the retreat, we'll enjoy times of worship and encouragement, good fellowship, delicious food, and magnificent scenery. I usually get up for an early morning walk before breakfast. There's time for long walks or hikes in the afternoon.
I'll be doing without the laptop and Internet access is at a café down the street from the hotel. So I'll only be peeking in on SP once or twice. Good week!

One of my CC companies decided to raise their interest rate to 24-something earlier this year. I opted out and the account will close when it expires at the end of the year. I figured there's no reason to keep the card around. I might be tempted to USE it! So today, with some encouragement from some other Dave Ramsey fans, I killed it!
