I know what you mean about the daily MORNING prayer. I think I'm going to have to add that as a goal of mine as well. Thanks for the inspiration

Almost didn't recognize the profile photo, I was looking for the socks (LOL). It is a great thing to keep a list, it helps to see what has been done and what must be done. It looks like you've made progress on many of your goals.

I had a question about your ministry spring newsletter; it is something you distribute via email, it so, I would love a copy.

It looks like we both got A's in our course study, that is awesome, I have one more course beginning July 5th and ends on August 11th, I can't wait, I'm sure I've mentioned this 1 million times already, thanks for continuing to listen.

Okay, enough of that, keep on progressing, we are going to make it, I know we will. I can't wait to see what July will bring!

Welcome Mat

Friday, June 26, 2009

A new class team will be starting up on SP this Sunday, June 28. I'll be co-leading and am looking forward to greeting lots of eager new Sparkers. The last few class teams have been averaging over 18,000 members so there will be lots to do at first. I've done this once before and it was a lot of fun, and a way to say "thanks" to the SP community.

My cold is just about gone - the voice was a little raspy at the music team rehearsal at church this evening, but hope I'll be in good shape for Sunday's service. Feeling so tired and yucky kept me from jogging most of the week. I walked instead. But I had a good, long workout at the gym yesterday. Decided to start with ST for a change so I could focus on that for the day, and I'm feeling it now!

Then I did 35 on the treadmill but kept the pace pretty slow. I've started alternating 5 minutes of running with one minute of walking. This technique is supposed to help you increase speed and stamina. We'll see what happens. I do seem to burn more calories this way than when I just do a slow jog for the same length of time. And you KNOW I like to burn calories.

Birthday party coming up tomorrow evening! Portion control alert!

Well done Michelle, and glad that your cold is getting better.
I admire you for co leading. I couldn't sit longer in the computer at his point in time so I try to do as much as I can within my limitations. Still in the throes of anxiety and working on some old issues.
Happy Singing.

Woohoo! I finally finished my paper for Old Testament prophets and turned it in. What a burden off my back! Wrote the email, attached the paper file, hit send and off it went, careening through cyberspace eventually to land in the PC or laptop of the teaching assistant in distant South Carolina. I don't think I have ever been so uninterested in what grade I'll be getting - I'm just so glad to have this course finished. Looked at the school catalog today, and it looks like I won't be taking any courses this summer. I have plenty of other projects to keep me busy over the next couple of months, though.

First up is to get over this cold! I've been operating on very little sleep the past few days and that is taking its toll. I had a nap this afternoon and instantly felt better, so a good night's sleep tonight should have even more effect.

Weekend plans include working tomorrow morning at the language school, then maybe a trip to the gym, depending on the weather. Nice weather, no gym but walking in the woods. In the evening, I'm going to the 50th birthday party of one of my Nordic walking buddies. Church on Sunday. A couple of loads of wash need to get done in there somewhere, too. No special plans - how 'bout you?

Michelle, I'm amazed that you could even keep focused with everything else going on in your life! Hope you get a good grade...and look after yourself and get over that cold quickly!

Here work work work, full of cats and doing heat pads covers and baby quilts fro the guests coming this Friday for the beginning of school winter holidays. It's raining heavily so it's that, and watching movies with DH, hibernating. Cooked a gourmet meal for Saturday night and uit turned out fine. Fitted a walk in they treadmill and plan to do the same today.
Have a good one and congrats on finishing the course! Given the circumstances it's a feat. Has R gone home already?

The weather was perfect for the 7K race yesterday afternoon - sunny, a little breezy, quite warm. The course is mostly through the woods so it was only intermittently hot. I pretty much ran my race and felt good all the way through. I finished two minutes faster than last year - not bad when you figure I'm about 9 pounds heavier than I was last year at this time. That would have been enough of a victory for me. A friend had come to cheer me on at the finish and we had made plans to have dinner afterward.

After a little recovery time, enjoying the beautiful day and the after-race atmosphere, I went and showered and got dressed. When I came out, the race organizers were just beginning the awards ceremony. We hadn't planned to hang around, but both my friend and I were curious to see the winners. I knew that I had placed third in my age group - the list was posted soon after the race was over - but had no idea that there were prizes for anything but the overall winners and first-placers. It soon became apparent that I was up for a prize! Woohoo! Look at this spiffy pair of "ergonomic" running socks I got. How cool is that?

Aging has its benefits - when you're still running (or running again like I am) at 57, there aren't a whole lot of ladies in your age group anymore (4 finishers in this race)! I do have to say that the number one in my age group finished WAY ahead of me. I did the run in 52:22 minutes and she finished in 33:00, very respectable for ANY age and 15th in a field of 97! I was 85th.

Of course, I'm getting teased now - my friend and I found a nice garden restaurant overlooking the city for my "victory dinner." She remarked that it was strange that the waiter and clientele didn't recognize me - my being such a sports celebrity and all. Another friend couldn't stop giggling when I told him about my win. I'll probably hear about this for weeks. Let them laugh! I've got the socks! And a nice motivation boost for my Spark fitness journey.

I love the socks. I have never had the energy to run. I was going to do a walk race once, but even begged off of that one. Keep at it.

What an awesome accomplishment and great socks, if I may say so myself. I really didn’t pay attention or even noticed if you have it written on your SparkPage; I would have never guessed age 57. This is so wonderful; I hope and pray I can make such accomplishment myself one day. Congratulations on finishing the race 2 minutes earlier than last year and your unexpected award; the fabulous socks.

As far as the others, let them laugh, what do they know; sharing this accomplishment brings inspiration to many of us and believe me we’re not giggling. Oh yeah! ; Regardless of who actually came in 1st; your number 1 in my book.

Have a great day!
