Tra La...

It's May! Today's my first day of tracking calories and fitness on Spark. I've been faithful about tracking cardio on the Fresh Start team challenge. And last week I passed Day 200 of my daily exercise streak. But I'm still 8 kilos over goal weight and 6 kilos over the top of my goal range. Time to get busy on SP again! I know how to do it - have a plan and work it! It feels good to fiinally be getting back on track!

Dear Michelle, I'm sure you'll be able to be on target in no time. What counts is the fitness and healthy living, the weight is secondary.

I'm not behind!

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

I'm not behind! I'm starting fresh AGAIN!

Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts. My trip back to Germany was looong but uneventful. I got back three weeks ago, in time to celebrate Resurrection Sunday with my church family here. I've been waiting for the German Telekom to get me hooked up with a new landline and wireless connection.

Just got back on the internet here at home TODAY so I'll be able to be consistent in posting --- and TRACKING! I'll try to stop by and visit everybody's blogs and pages this week. I've missed my Spark buddies immensely, but kind of gave up trying to keep in touch via the sloooow connection at the language school. I basically just updated my facebook page and answered the urgent emals and that was IT!

Would you believe I ran 10K for the first time in my life last Saturday? I had planned to run 5K in the benefit to raise money to build a school in Ethiopia. But at the 5K mark, it occurred to me that if I kept a nice slow pace I could earn more money (5 euros per kilometer from the run sponsors) for the cause. My legs are still feeling it, but it was a good feeling. Next race will be in June, I think.

More later...

Welcome back--you've been missed around here. Aren't you thankful for fresh starts?!
Amazing is the word that comes to my mind when you decided, "Hey, I think I'll just continue on for another 5K." WOW! Way to go!

Today is Mom's 82nd birthday. Celebrating started with Mom and Dad's breakfast group at the little cafe they always go to on Saturday morning. After we finished breakfast, the restaurant staff brought out a chocolate cake with candles and everyone in the place sang! I passed on the cake but we're going out for dinner later, so I'm going to have to be diligent with portion control today!

But back to Mom - I'm so happy she made it this far and has made such great progress since the auto accident in August. It has been a difficult half a year!

I head back to Germany on Tuesday. Thanks for the prayers for a safe flight and travelling mercies!

What a blessing to be able to share your mom's bday with her before you return to Germany! Remember, everything in moderation. After all, 82nd bdays don't come around very often! Praying you have a safe trip back to Germany. We'll be waiting to hear how it went after you get settled back in.

I hope you are enjoying your mom's birthday. Keep strong as you celebrate with your mom & don't go overboard on the food choices. I thought you were already on your way back to Germany. I will keep you in my prayers for safe travel.

Better

Tuesday, March 31, 2009

Thanks, everyone for your concern and prayers!

With my trip one short week away, I'm VERY glad to report that the shingles are going away. I did NOT like the thought of sitting on the shingles (yep, that's where they chose to locate) all the way from Fort Myers, FL, to Philadelphia, to Frankfurt to Stuttgart.

Praising God for his healing power today!

Sorry for the blanket greeting, but life continues to happen abundantly here. Dad is at the doctor even as we speak and may face surgery. More when I know more...

Michelle ~ Glad you are feeling better. I have not had shingles, but my husband had them. They settled in his lower back.

Michelle, I'm so glad that the shingles are going away! My daughter and new son-in-law just flew to Stuttgart yesterday, but they had a direct flight from Atlanta. Your dad is in my prayers and I hope you have a safe trip.
Love,
Carole

Hoe all will be well with your Dad. I'm glad your shingles are going away and in all places. I wouldn't want to have to sit that long with or without shingles. How many hrs are we talking here of flying?
