Down and Out

Friday, October 17, 2008

I was down a pound on Monday! But I've been doing some emotional eating since then. Stressing out a bit about all that needs to be done before my trip to the States, and also fighting a cold. But hanging in there none the less...

DMom is able to talk again! She had the tracheal breathing tube taken out on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to chatting with her later today for the first time in about 6 weeks.

I'm so happy for your mom and you. I know that she will be less frightened now that she can speak. I hope your dad is managing through all this too. I say a prayer for you and your family every evening. Take care Michelle,

Hi Michelle and what great news. Don't worry too much about emotional eating, we are humans after all!
Today I started with exercise again with a bit of trepidation, but I managed it. It's a great stress reliever and I haven't got any sanity without it.

With all you have already accomplished, a week of stress eating isn't going to hurt you. You will be back on track in no time.

Have a nice chat with your mom. I'm glad she is doing better.

Peeked

Saturday, October 11, 2008

I snuck a peek at the scale this morning and think I'm going to have some good news to report after my "official" Monday weigh-in. Thought I'd post that here so that I won't be tempted to sabotage myself over the weekend. Instead, I'm going to go Nordic walking today and tomorrow and burn a bazillion calories. Yes!

Tomorrow is the town's annual flea market --- THE event of the year here. Our church has a pizza stand and normally sells over 300 (what you might call personal-size) pizzas to raise money for our partner church in the Ukraine. It's great fun and the pizza is the best, thanks to Luca and Lucia, the almost-professional pizza-bakers in charge. It's also a great time of fellowship and a chance to see people you might only see once or twice a year otherwise. Do stop by if you're in the neighborhood ;)

That's like peeking at your Christmas present and seeing that you got something REALLY good! Hehehehe.

Have fun burning a bazillion calories, it has inspired me to get off my behind and go to the gym.

Hehehe the first thing I zero'd in on was the word "Shoppen"...I guess that means shopping, and it must be a universal word...yay for shopping!

Changes coming

Wednesday, October 08, 2008

I got the good news that my boss has okayed my leave of absence. This is also kind of scary because now I have to make the big decisions about my stay in the States and set a time frame. I did a little panicky snacking today as a result, but not too bad calorie-wise and it was mostly healthy stuff. And I'll be going for a walk shortly to burn some of those toasted almonds off.

Yesterday, I had a good, tho short session on the treadmill at the gym. I did one of the itrain workouts and was able to do it at the "runner" pace most of the time instead of my usual "jogger." That felt good!

And on the home front, yesterday Mom got the wiring in her jaw replaced with rubber bands, so she'll soon be able to eat soft foods again and then start learning to talk again. Knowing her, she'll be a fast study!

Oh Michelle, you must be so relieved by your mom's progress. I have thought of you often lately, and as someone with an elderly parent, I know the fear you feel each time there is an issue with their health. Welcome your mom when you see her and give your dad a big hug, he likely needs one. I thought maybe I'd send you one too, emoticon

Day of Germany Unity

Friday, October 03, 2008

Today is the German national holiday. It's also the day, one year ago, that I finally reached my goal weight of 58 kilos. I actually lost a bit more, then gained a bit and have been mostly hovering within my maintenance range of 58-60 kilos since then. At my last weigh-in I was at 61.5. That was just following my trip to the States and I was actually surprised it wasn't more because of all the comfort food I had been eating. I had also been running a half hour almost every morning, so I'm sure that made the difference!

Now that I'm over the jet lag, and the cold and UTI are almost gone, it's time to get back in action. I hearby declare that October is going to be my month to get back down to 60K. Them's fightin' words!

Hi Michelle wonderful to hear such success. The hovering it's a juggling in my case. But I'm still maintaining after 5 months, and I want to loose more but it's not realistic, I would have to work too hard to keep it up and that is not a life.
I have to beat the fear that being a cardiac patient instilled on me. They don't let me do treadmill this weeks but I'm just about to do weights ( I did the session with the trainer but worried).
I know I should be grateful that I have an opportunity to avoid a serious problem but it's difficult to accept when there are no symptoms.
Are you staying there or planning a permanent move to the US. Did you make up your mind.?
