My Second 5% Summer Challenge Begins!

Monday, June 25, 2012

I've been stuck just below 140 (137-138-139) for the past few months. I am ready to get out of this plateau and begin losing again. Luckily, the 5% Summer Challenge just started up and I'm just about to finish (finally!) my first month of Turbo Fire (Round 2). I have started this month over so many times since the last time I posted, but excuses just kept getting in the way. I went 3 weeks strong until last week when I got ill. Yesterday, however, I restarted week 4 with the Summer Challenge in mind. I'm ready to do this!

Although I am still 138 (more or less...), I have added some inches .
Here is my comparison:
@138
11/21/11
Chest: 35.5
Bicep: 11.5
Waist: 28.5
Navel: 33.5
Hips: 40
Thigh: 23.75/23.5
Neck: 12.25
BMI: 24.8

@138
6/25/12
Chest: 36 (+0.5)
Bicep: 11.5
Waist: 29 (+0.5)
Navel: 34.5 (+1)
Hips: 41.5 (+1.5)
Thigh: 24 (+0.5)
Neck: 12.25
BMI: 24.8

I'm not too upset about gaining the 4 inches though because I am still a healthy BMI and I feel and look great. I would love to be at an even lower BMI though so that I have some "room" to maintain. My ultimate goal weight is still 115, but for the 5% Summer Challenge I'd like to break my plateau, lose 7 pounds, and get rid of those added inches!

    Hey girlie! I just posted two pictures on my profile so you could see where I'm at physically. When I say I look great, I mean I feel great about how I look. :) That's mainly because this is the weight I was before I gained weight after high school. I've always wanted to get fit, but it took gaining 20 pounds to realize that I needed it. Now that I've lost that extra weight and feel self-confident again, I'd like to work on my problem areas (belly, arms, and thighs!). I know there isn't such thing as spot reduction so I have to lose an overall amount that I estimate to be about 115. Also, I'm only 5'3" and most would agree that 110 would be my best weight. I doubt I'll be bikini ready and have toned abs and a "perfect" body at 115, but that is the ultimate weight for my own self image and my body type (small framed!). Hope that helps!

    I hope you have a great time with the challenge and reach your goal! I'm curious... if you already feel and look great, why do you want to lose another almost 25 pounds? I'm truly asking out of curiosity as I'm having trouble really settling on a goal weight.

Beginning Round 2 of Turbo Fire! Plus, my current progress.

Sunday, January 22, 2012

I'm back! I'm ready to start working out daily again! With this, I'm REDOING Turbo Fire from week 1. Super excited to start again and see some more results from this program. I've been slowly inching below 140 since I stopped working out regularly, but unfortunately because of my inactivity, I did not meet my goal weight by the end of the year as expected. No big deal though, I'm ready for round 2 and to push on through to 115. :)

I wasn't able to post progress pictures before now, so I'm going to post some from last year when I started my journey... to now (my "new" beginning). I'm only posting back pictures as I am in a bikini and I find them somewhat embrassing anyway haha.

Before Turbo Fire Round 1, but after losing 5 pounds with SparkPeople.

At 155 and the day I began Turbo Fire.

At 145 when I was nearly done with round 1.

And... today! 135 pounds at the beginning of a new round of TF!

I was a size 12, but now I can fit in a 8-10 depending on brand. Looking forward to round 2!

Weight Loss/Measurements Update 2

Monday, November 21, 2011

@145
9/24
Chest: 36
Bicep: 11.5
Waist: 29.25
Navel: 34
Hips: 41
Thigh: 24
Neck: 12.25
BMI: 26.1

@138
11/21
Chest: 35.5 (-0.5)
Bicep: 11.5 (0)
Waist: 28.5 (-0.75)
Navel: 33.5 (-0.5)
Hips: 40 (-1.0)
Thigh: 23.75/23.5 (-0.25/-0.5)
Neck: 12.25 (0)
BMI: 24.8 (-1.3)

I lost 7 pounds and ~2.25 inches during the past 8 weeks. Keep in mind I was not actively following a workout schedule, as I was during my last update (hence the much lower inches lost). However, I did meet a huge goal I set out for myself... a healthy BMI! Although It's still too-close-for-comfort towards 25, it's still an accomplishment to be proud of and one I wish to bring even lower. This was my goal weight originally, but I decided to get my BMI towards the lower end of "healthy" so that I could have room for water gain furing AF and I won't obsess over a 2-4 pound difference.

Although I did not meet my weight goal for the end of the year as predicted, at least I'm starting a new one in a healthier direction. ;)

edit: I plan to start posting pictures once I fix this computer's memory card port...

Finding a way out of my rut.

Friday, November 18, 2011

So it's already the end of the Fall 5% Challenge and I'm disappointed that I did not meet my goal of 137 pounds (and a healthy BMI range), but at least I was able to lose 5 pounds AND keep it off. This is great news to me because, to be honest, I haven't been working out consistently as I did during the Summer 5% Challenge. My break started when my chemistry class began to demand a lot from me with lab reports and tests every two weeks. I've been stuck on week 14 of Turbo Fire since then and it's been over a month.

This week has been my mental breakthrough though. I feel ready to tackle on the rest of this weight. Tomorrow is me and my fiance's six year anniversary of being together and we bought a juicer in celebration. For the past few days we've been making different concoctions of mostly broccoli, carrots, oranges, and apples. We have a lot more fruits and veggies to try in our new find, but so far, we've been finding it absolutely delicious and have sworn off all other fluids (besides water, of course). I feel as if this is not only going to be a very healthy lifestyle change, especially as vegetarians, but it's going to accelerate my weight loss. I just need to put in a little more effort in the working out department... :)

I think that being stuck on repeat of week 14 has made me dread doing the same workouts over again and I've basically been avoiding it. So, I've decided to just pick up where I left off and start my workouts today (a Friday) rather than waiting through the weekend and having a million excuses by Monday.
