Here we go again...

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

So, this feels familiar- Hitting the restart button on trying to excercise regularly. It's a long story full of personal details and some health issues, but I'm glad to be back in good health, ready to get in shape! I'm still right at my goal weight (within 3 pounds) and I'm eating much better. I've been working out for a few weeks now. About 2-3 times per week. I would like to bulid up to a daily workout during the work week and then some fun outdoor family activities on the weekends. I'll post more about my current routines later. Gotta get back to work for now!

Why, Hey there!

Monday, October 24, 2011

It's been a looooong time since I've blogged or even been on SparkPeople. Major changes happened last year (around this time) and I lost the weight I wanted to, made some new goals (unrelated to health), and lost my motivation for SparkPeople. However, I still lack good habits (like a daily workout) and really want health, as well as all the other wonderful things in my life!

I'm going to try again. I'm going to add fruits and veggies in again, start working out again, and drown myself in 8 cups of water again!

Wish me luck!

Scary Stuff

Saturday, September 04, 2010

My husband is a sheriff's deputy, which means every time he goes to work, I worry. (I'm a worrier who is trying to learn not to be this way...) Last night, his car was hit by a drunk driver who was driving WAY fast (80 MPH). The driver is in the hospital because of injuries he sustained during the accident. My husband, fortunately, is safe at home with me. emoticon

I'm allowing this incident to remind me to always be grateful for my family. At times, I'm a bit overwhelmed with the stress of making the household function as I think it should. We both work an hour away from where we live (in opposite directions) and every other week, I leave the house at 6:30 to take my stepson to school (also an hour away from where we live). It's kind of a crazy life but I try to stay positive, knowing that I'm working towards the greater goal of having a happy, cohesive, and united family! In this moment, I'm especially grateful for my husband, who risks his life to help others and loves his job because he has the privilege of caring for and helping those in need.

God bless our men in blue (or brown emoticon). I'm so glad he walked away safe. Both my hubby and I are deputy sheriff's as well!

Tell him to continue to stay safe out there!

Is it really possible...?

Friday, September 03, 2010

Is it really possible that I can see a difference in my body after only ONE week of working out regularly? I've been a member of SparkPeople since May but I was doing the workout stuff my own way and using the website to track it. However, I've recently started implementing some of the information I've picked up from the site and the book. This week I've worked out several times (somedays, only doing a ten minute "Spark workout") and I think I can see a change in my legs and tummy.

I only have a few pound to lose and my main goal (for the first time ever!) is to move towards a healthier lifestyle, BUT it's so awesome that I think I can tell a visible change in my physique! And even if there is no such difference and it's all in my imagination, it's a great incentive to keep up the work. It's strange that when I let go of obsessing about trimming down and instead begin to focus on having a healthy lifestyle, I move towards all the goals- old and new!

I'm excited to see what's going to happen next. I'm experiencing success in incorporating fruits, veggies, whole grains, nuts, and lean meat into my diet. This program has encouraged me to make small consistent changes and I love the support I've received while I've been making my slow progress. I do well when I'm able to move at my own pace and SparkPeople allows that!!!

I believe it is. I am learning . . . slowly but surely . . . that indeed it is better to do a little often than a lot once in a while. Keep it up! That trimmer feeling is an awesome motivation.

One Step at a Time

Sunday, August 29, 2010

I've worked out three times this week, thirty minutes each time. I'm proud of my progress, especially since I haven't felt amazing physically this week. I've done yoga, walked, and jogged. I like to vary my workouts so that I don't get bored. Having FitTV and a DVR has helped by giving me lots of options and the freedom workout on my schedule.

I'd love to hear from other members who are staying motivated and continuing to move! Yay!

Good for you! I've got a few physical limitations (disabilities) so I love using the DVR to keep gentle yoga practices available for when I know moving will help me feel better, but can't seem to get myself to the gym. Keep up the great work!
