Fuel

Wednesday, January 06, 2010

My fuel for improvement must come from within. My friends can and have encouraged me but i am the one who gets up in the morning to exercise/do yard work. The other benefit is my yard does look different, or is it better. I asked my son about the yard improvements a few days ago and he showed by his stymied reaction that he could not see it. He did not recognize the new grass that has grown in areas that had junk grass before. I see the improvements and the people who mow my lawn see the improvement.

I find when I am multitasking I do better. My exercise is weeding out the junk grass so when the project is finished I will be lighter and healthier than when I started. If the project is never finished because the junk grass grows too fast to get ahead of it that will be OK because I will need to exercise for the rest of my life.

The bottom line is this is for me, both the exercise and making the yard look better. I plan to live here for a long time.

Don't worry if your work is not noticed. That happens at my home all the time so I play the "hot and cold" game to get people thinking about what I have been doing. Done in a humorous way we get a lot of laughs out of the silly game. Sometimes my hubby will say "please just tell me" and other times I just announce what I have done. I have to multi-task also. We are better for it right? Does vegetation grow really fast there? I could look that question up but it would be more fun to hear back from you. Take care. emoticon emoticon Only 'grass' I could find with a 'critter' in it. emoticon

How true that we have to find the motivation inside each of us. I'm sure that your yard will continue to improve. You have made such progress this past year! Congrats and best wishes for 2010!

My Book Came Today!

Monday, January 04, 2010

January 4, 2009, here on Guam and my copy of "The Spark" was in the lock box today! That is good timing for way out here in the Pacific.

I have looked at the pictures and glanced at the table of contents but not started reading yet. Had to write this first.

Almost like a Christmas present that just got here!

Great! I am enjoying my book so much. My hubby accidentally used it to place his coffee mug. I moved it very quickly. Didn't say anything until he said, 'Why can't I use it that way?" I politely replied, "I don't use your John Grisham books to hold my drinks. Nuf said. Bless my hubby's heart. emoticon

It took as long to get to me as it did to you and I'm in the U.S. so that was good. I got mine this morning and like you I glanced through the pics and set it aside for the moment since I'm at work. Will check it out fully when I get home. Enjoy reading.

Almost The New Year!

Wednesday, December 30, 2009

it is 2:00 p.m. here so the New Year is 10 hours away. A new decade in this century.

I am delighted that since I joined SparkPeople that I have dropped (no, not dropped) 70 pounds, have lost inches in many places and feel healthier than I have in years.

I am starting a new year but planning to keep up the work to be healthy for the rest of my life. I hope I can be an encouragement to others. Some close friends i have tried to prod but nothing has happened yet. Some Spark friends have been an encouragement to me and I hope I have been to them.

Thanks to BabyJane I have started wearing a pedometer and have started pushing myself to walk more each day. I was doing about 6,000 steps a day but now it is 8,000 or 10,000 steps most days.

My main exercise is the yard work I do most mornings. I have even started a small garden, mainly in pots because there is no real soil in my yard. I should have lettuce, beans, cucumbers, squash and tomatoes if all goes well. We will see.

I hope all of you have a great New Year and a healthy year to come.

Congratulations! As you get to know me, I say "party time" not because I have a lot of parties but that I would like to celebrate more for my friends and my achievements. SO PARTY TIME! emoticon You ARE an inspiration to me. I am new, as you know and reading about others successes is a help to me.
Hugs, Rusty emoticon

Bali Spa

Friday, December 25, 2009

One of my son's family gave me a Gift Certificate for a Bali Spa for Christmas! It will be a Creambath and Foot Massage! I have never had something like this before (although I have had massages by a lady that works through my chiropractor).

My daughter-in-laws mother was telling me about what she had gotten a few days ago and urging me to get it also. Now I can!

Some friends and I will be staying at the hotel this is given at for the New Year so we can watch the fireworks. Now I will add the Spa to the works!

Merry Christmas all!

Best Made Plans...

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Yesterday I took my grands on our Christmas outing. I started this last year and they enjoyed it so much that I plan to continue it indefinitely. (Thank you SP that I have the agility and energy to do this.

Some things have been discontinued, the Double Decker Bus is gone so no ride through Tumon to see the lights. I was going to take the girls on the Trolley but the weather changed on us and so we went in my car. The Village and Train display at one of the hotels. Others have been added. There is a beautiful village and train display at the Capuchin Friary that we went to and then took the car into Tumon and saw the lights and village and trains in another hotel. These were all free but a lot of fun.

I am usually pretty careful about activity time but this ran way over what I had planned I had the last group home around 9:30 p.m. instead 8:00. Praise God for cell phones so we could let the parents know all was well we were just slow.

Grandma got home totally exhausted and did not wake up until after 7:00 a.m. this morning instead of my usual 5:45 to 6:30. I did get my exercise/yard work in so all is well.

Have a blessed Christmas all.

Jane, what a wonderful gift to your grandchildren. They will never forget these special outings. My daughters still remember the wonderful times they had with their grandparents when they were little girls. Now they treasure their grandparents even more on the rare occasions they get to see them. emoticon
