Isaac Newton

Sunday, June 11, 2006

If I have seen farther than other men, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants. I love Isaac Newton's quote. It is emblazoned on a statue of him here in The Woodlands. It always encourages me to give credit to others for my own successes in life bc I know how others have influenced me and paved my way.

The Right Choices

Saturday, June 10, 2006

Doing what I know is right. Tonight I wanted a fudgecycle so bad. So I logged in my calories to see if I could afford it. My calories were low, but instead I made a choice NOT to have that 160 calories chocolate treat, and to keep my low calorie count for the day. I drank 20 oz of water instead to fill me up to bursting. [sigh]

Frustration of failure

Thursday, June 01, 2006

Yesterday I showed my first loss of 1/2 pound. It felt good. Today that 1/2 pound is back, but I am optimistic that I can reach my goal if I just don't give up. Activity is my obstacle. I don't need to do much to keep the house up, and sewing, reading and beading are sedentary activities. I love to escape into books, but know I must be more active. I can reduce my calorie count a bit more, but starving will just cause a rollercoaster again. My doctor says I will either lose the weight or buy new clothes. I need to drop the weight.

I've got the same problem with you--too many sedentary activities and a love of book. When I'm reading a book, I also love to eat. But I'm not willing to give up my books!!! So gotta eat tomatoes, celery, cucumbers while reading. It's my way of relaxing when I come home from work. Luckily my husband does not mind.

Your sewing projects look great. I like to crochet afghans myself, beading, scrapbooking, and drawing. Don't give up on your weight loss. It's just a matter of discipline and making wise choices. emoticon
