I am now in Canada with my daughter and grand-sons

Sunday, December 06, 2009

I did arrive Thursday night but I was an exhausted person for a couple of days because of the jet lag (we are 5 hours ahead in Dakar). It did affect my appetite but luckily for me, I am now down to 159 lbs. My exercise schedule was somewhat perturbed during the travel and aftermath but this morning, I did a core P90X session with my daughter. Man, that was NOT easy. emoticon I did finish it though but with modifications of the movements to accommodate my level of fitness. It was fun though. Yesterday, I went for a long walk by myself and in the evening did another shorter one with my daughter and her sons.

Goodbye 160s!!!

Tuesday, December 01, 2009

Yes, I have finally come off the 160s but not by a long shot. I told my niece that I now weighed 159.9 lbs and she teased me and said that I might as well say 160 lbs. I said "No way, Jose!" That one/tenth of a pound made a difference! It has not been easy, but it is all well worth it. emoticon

Had a good walk today!

Saturday, November 21, 2009

There was a charity race/walk today in Dakar. I participated and was accompanied by my niece. She ran half of the race but I walked the 5 kms diligently and did a 17 minute mile walk. A young student who is in her second year, kept on starting to run and then would stop and slow down so much that I always caught up with her. I just smiled at her and told her that if she stuck by me, she would eventually finish the walk or the run in due time. She joined me and confided in me that she felt like quitting halfway but that she was proud of herself for actually finishing. We talked about the importance of exercising and she was surprised to find out that I had full grown daughters and that I was a grand-mother of four children. She said that she was going to work on her exercise schedule. emoticon

No blogs in over one week!

Friday, November 20, 2009

It just happens that presently, I have not much to say about my progress. It seems to be somewhat at a standstill. Hopefully, this coming week will see a tad more progress than I have in the last little while. It is not from lack of trying because I am exercising. Maybe, I have to look a little more at exactly what I am eating. It is so easy to slacken off for a little while. I have to get over this and do what is needed to get me through this impasse. I will overcome...

I only have 5 lbs to go and I can't seem to lose those stupid little things! Standstills are a pain, but I think everyone gets them and then gets past them. You can do it!!! Just keep up the good work. emoticon

It's not uncommon to come to a standstill. Looking at your routine, changing things up, usually help. Best wishes!

I am so hungry this week!

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

I don't know what is happening to me but I would love to eat just about anything I can get my hands on -- but I don't much to my chagrin. I resist but it is not easy right now. It may be my body telling me to take in more food because my cardio and strength training has really upped quite a bit of late. My calorie intake at present is in the upper range of my calorie intake but I do need to bring it down a notch or two. emoticon

Same here! I just noticed the other day that my appetite has certainly increased this week. The previous few weeks I was eating less than normal, and now I'm eating more. We'll see how it plays out on the scale, since some food increases have yielded weight loss for me. It'll work out for you too! :)

Last week I came down with a cold and ate at my high range of calories or a little more for 4-5 days and still the scale on Monday told me I'd lost nearly 4 pounds. I say cave into your desire to eat more, just eat healthy. Your body knows best.

I always want to eat more during the cold weather months than any other time. I think it's that get ready to hibernate mentality!! But I'm sure yours is probably because you've increased your exercising.Your body needs more fuel.

Wow.. I have been very hungry this week also. I am trying to eat lower calorie snacks and space them through the day along with my balanced meals. If you have upped your exercise though that will have your body craving for more food.

You can try increasing your intake of lower calorie foods, such as vegetables. I hope this helps.

it may not hurt to have a higher protein snack or even a cup of milk. anything to "tide you over". if you feel hungry I think you are hungry and need to fuel the bod! :) especially if you are not eating the suggested 3 meals and 2 snacks a day? not sure what plan you are on but those things work for me. even just drinking tea will please my belly.

good luck, just stopping by browsing blogs

When it's the TOM for me I get a day where I swear i could eat out an all you can eat buffet. It's like I just never feel full. Now I just try to make the smartest decision that I can. Grab an apple it generally works for me.
