Today was a solid day - eating was clean; had a good work out on the stationary bike, and NO sugary dessert!! Onward to tomorrow.

  


Do What I Say, Not What I Do

I haven't heard anyone use this phrase in years but it sprang to mind today when I look at my last (only) two blog entries. I KNOW what to do and I have done it for literally years. What was different about this holiday season to make me think that I could treat myself every day and not gain? Dunno. I do know that disciplne is key for me - once I start to say "yes" on a regular basis, it becomes harder and harder to say "no" - (note to self - please review first blog again!)!! Yesterday was a good day food-wise but did no exercise. I intended to when we got home from traveling but did not due to other activities we undertook instead. I will give myself two weeks of "clean" P2 eating and exercise at least 4 days per week to see if any of the 3 pounds of holiday weight can be shifted that way. If not, I will at least think about P1 for a week. We'll see.

Oh, my. Yesterday, I saw a Spark blog about a book by Shauna Reid with the above title. I clicked on the link to her blog and was addicted to reading it periodically yesterday - what a great story she has - such determination and honesty (and frustration) in describing her issues with food, mainly chocolate (which is a big weakness of mine). More inspiration to stick with the basics - good food and exercise on a regular basis, treats only occasionally - must keep that front and center when I am tempted by dessert!!

  


The Girl Who Couldn't Say "NO"!

This is the first year since I reached my goal weight that I have "let myself go" during the period between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day - the result is a gain of 2 to 3 pounds. This is a serious thing for me as I am very short (5'0") and three pounds really makes a difference. I know what the issue has been - I eat my fruits and vegetables, low fat dairy, lean meat, whole grains, etc. and I exercise regularly - my weakness is desserts - which I have had regularly and it shows! I am becoming the girl who couldn't say "no" (!) and it has to stop NOW, this very second! There, it has helped to write it down.
