It took about 18 months, however .....

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

I have finally lost the extra weight that has been (literally) hanging on since our tropical vacation in 2009 - as always in real life, there have been any number of issues that hindered total dedication to weight loss (duh!) such as work, health issues, etc. but I truly had gotten to the point that I felt I just wouldn't get back to maintenance weight - ever. And even more frightening, I had talked myself into accepting it. Motivation is so difficult to fathom - where it comes from, how long it stays, etc. I have been in maintenance mode since early 2005, I thought I had the drill down pat - guess not! Motivation this year came from two sources - health issues early in the year that totally threw off my exercise regime and my healthy eating for 3 months - too, too long when it comes to exercise. But I have been back at it now for about 2 months and doing really well, consistently. The other motivation is a friend's wedding coming up soon - shallow, I know, but I want to feel "right". I am happy to say that for the past two weeks, I have been at maintenance mode weight and I am motivated to stay there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! emoticon

Sometimes Balance Just Isn't Possible .....

Saturday, February 27, 2010

I am happy to see from my last blog entry I had had enough sense to stop work and go home to get in some exercise. Unfortunately, from then until now, I have averaged only 3x per week to get in exercise because work has been so hectic. Working 7 days per week for 12 to 15 hours per day is not a recipe for feeling motivated to exercise - I have been lucky to keep up with chores that need doing at home during this period. I have been on track with eating, though, all during this time. Year-end work at my company is finished now and I am hopeful that balance will be easier to attain for a while. I feel better when I exercise regularly, but sometimes you can't have everything.

Congrats on your good eating during a time of pressure and stress. Very wise. Now you can get in the exercise and achieve some balance as you intend. Very good plan. Take care, Marsha

Well done on being on track with the eating, that's not always easy when you are busy, so congratulations.
If you are exercising three times a week you are still doing what is good for you, plus you are keeping the house up to date. Woman, you are emoticon.

Now it is time for some YOU time, enjoy.

I had a room mate in purchasing and at the end of the fiscal year, she was a maniac! I'm glad the craziness is over at work so that you can make time for yourself. Big sigh of relief!

Taking the Time ....

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Long and busy day at work but at 5:30, I packed up some stuff to do at home and came home! I have done chores around the house, finally ate my usual breakfast for dinner because I missed it this morning and did 43 minutes on the stationary bike at a resistance of 14. Once I log in here, I'm off to do some of the business work that I brought home. I feel good that I was flexible enough in my approach to stop working for a while and take time to exercise - we'll see if I'm so sensible tomorrow! emoticon

Better Days

Monday, January 11, 2010

Feeling much better and am at work at 6am as usual getting ready for a busy day. I really like my job, which always helps since we spend so much time at our work. Food yesterday was very good ... no M&Ms although my DH had a large bowl (!) of them by his side while he was on the computer ... I didn't take one - still feeling guilty for all I ate during Christmas break, but I think it is "healthy" guilt! It is bitterly cold here in New England this morning - yikes!

Good day everyone! emoticon

Let go of yesterday and live your life for all the tomorrows. You're doing a great job.

Lesson Learned (?)

Saturday, January 09, 2010

Ack - I went to work this morning because I have been out for two days with "something" and when I got home all I felt like doing was taking a nap! Should have given it another day before venturing out.

I have read quite a bit of the Spark - am into the description of the second week of the 28 day program - I did not join this site until almost two years after I lost the weight following South Beach so I really never followed the "structure" of SP. I did experience one of the "cross effects" that SparkGuy describes though - as I lost weight and felt successful, I actually wanted to exercise and now it is a part of my life ..... emoticon emoticon emoticon

The cool thing about sparkpeople is whatever "diet" works for you, you can incorporate it into the program. Sparkpeople is highly compatible. I like Dr. Oz's You on a Diet program, and use it in conjecture with sparkpeople. There's also Weight Watchers, Atkins, Hungry Girl, whatever floats your boat!

I love the idea of criss-crossing, though and am hoping to see more of that in my own journey.

Anyhow, hope you're feeling better! Great blog about criss cross effect!
