New start

Sunday, July 27, 2014

I have used this site with much success off and on for years. I am now going to use the blog part again because I am starting on a new journey. So much has happened in the past 5 years. I am now a franchise owner of a Curves Fitness Center for Women, I am a licensed Zumba instructor and most recently a Certified Personal Trainer.
I have worked to improve my own health the past 9 years since my two heart attacks, however, with running a business, studying, and helping others it seems my own weight has escalated a bit.

I am now heavier than I want to be, so I am back to tracking here at Spark and using what I teach to others.

This morning I weighed in at 123 about 12 pounds heavier than I want. This picture is after 3 miles of run/walk intervals so not the best but I wanted it recorded for myself.

follow along if you wish, it is bound to get interesting. I do love to eat.

I have got this.

Sunday, July 06, 2014

It is time for me to get totally serious. I know how to do this and what to do. My problem is the eating at night. I do fine all day long, stick to plan, eat within range, nutrients are great. then I sit down to relax and it all seems to go out the window. Today, all ready I did 2.5 mile intervals and 20 minute yoga workout on the deck. I really enjoyed the yoga and may do more of that at night. Would be better than eating. I am taking a weight management nutrition course right now to tie in with my personal training and I teach it also at curves. I want to set a great example and have them be able to see my weight loss also.

That is somewhat similar to an issue I had. I work nights, well more like early mornings, and it really throws off my eating schedule. I plan around eating 3 meals a day. So, I wake up around 1 am and headed to work. Around 5 am, I would get really hungry, so I would go and grab a quick bite somewhere or eat what I had brought from home. That wasn't the issue. The problem occurred when I left work at 9am or so. I would be hungry for breakfast again! I would go and eat again. I would then sleep when I got home and woke at noon to eat lunch and then have dinner around 5. I would go to sleep between 5 and 6.

I now realize that the "normal" eating times for everyone aren't "normal" for everyone. By me simply pushing my breakfast later by an hour and half, it allowed me to not feel hungry till lunch. I think the same goes for those that stay awake longer in the evening. Shifting your meals a little later, will allow your body to "feel" full and satisfied later.

I think sometimes it's just us getting bored. As an ex-smoker, I fully understand how boredom makes us do things we shouldn't.

Sounds like your on the right track with exercise and the fact that you recognize it's a bad habit, shows your one smart cookie! Carry on! emoticon

Know what to do

Thursday, May 01, 2014

I know what to do, I know how to do it. I teach fitness and nutrition. I have a spare tire around the middle, it truly is the only fat left on my body and it needs to go away. I know to cut the calories, a caloric deficit is going to help lose that belly fat. I have started an abdomen training routine that will help and now, the hard part for me is cutting those calories. I do love to eat. I have started tracking again and do well all day long until about 8 in the evening. I just need to do this.

I'm with you on knowing what to do. I am certified in natural health care. Knowing and doing, unfortunately, are two different things. If I could just connect them instead of running parallel, I would do a whole lot better!

Hey there Peggy! It's nice to "see" you via your blog. So many times you've written exactly what I'm dealing with myself! I enjoy reading your updates. Is the ACE certification test still on for June? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

colonoscopy and endoscopy

Sunday, February 23, 2014

Had them both done Thursday. First time. 3 small polyps removed and biopsies and also Biopsying small intestine inflammation, suspecting celiac which I have wondered about for years. Should hear something from the doctor this week. Praying all is well.

Everything is well. Polyps are benign and no signs of celiac, however, I am still having some concerns about gluten sensitivity.

I too have had both and had polyps removed during both procedures; it is common now and helps with the doctors treatment at earlier stages of health issues. do some yoga and meditation to help your stress of waiting
