Revising Goals. Again! + Hello Overweight

Tuesday, April 02, 2013

My goals have been revised a few times, due to some stalling issues in my weight loss in 2013. I have been keeping with it, but I guess my body is just SO efficient that it doesn't want to get rid of any weight!

My previous goals were:
185 - April 30
160 - June 30
150 - Aug 15, 2013

My updated goals are:
185 - May 28
160 - July 30
150 - Sept 15, 2013

Hello Overweight!
My husband informed me today that since I have hit 191, I'm officially overweight! Yes, I'm happy about that, because it means I'm no longer OBESE! Woot woot!

Celebrating the small things!

I think it's something to celebrate! That's one of my first longer-term goals -- to be overweight instead of obese. I hope to be there by November. Congrats on your continued progress. :-)

Beat the slump

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

Well, right after I wrote that last post about stalllllling, I beat the slump and hit 196 one day and then 195.6 the next day.

How did I beat the slump? By tracking calories.

Although I am following Atkins and I am not really supposed to track calories exactly, I am still supposed to track carbs. I decided to log all my intake, and try to keep it at around 1500 calories or below, and that seemed to banish the slump.

Yes, doing both things is slightly annoying. The truth is, though, I really don't want to be eating a lot of carbs. I don't love how I feel when I eat a lot of carbs.

Anyway, back out of the slump! Let's hope I go down another 10 or 20 pounds before I hit a huge slump again.

Staaaaalling

Saturday, March 02, 2013

My last entry was when I hit my goal of 210. I hit my 200 goal barely by 12/21, and then stalled there at 199.9 until 12/31. Between January and Feb, I only hit a low weight of 196.4, but hovered more around 198 the whole time.

So, just 2 lbs lost in 2 months!

I have had to revise my old goals, which were:
210 - Oct 24
200 - Nov 28
185 - Jan 30
160 - April 3
150 - May 15, 2013

My current goals are:

185 - April 30
160 - June 30
150 - Aug 15, 2013

The good news is, at least I lost two-ish pounds. That's still a downward trend.

Since I have been following Atkins, I think maybe I am being too loose in allowing certain Atkins-allowed foods in too big of quantities (mostly, nuts!). As of today, I have decided to track my calorie intake so I can be sure I am staying in line with the right number of carbs AND not eating too many calories.

I'm hoping that as I pay closer attention to my caloric intake, my weight will start falling again.

And snacks are going to fall squarely in the fresh veggie camp for the next several weeks.

Goal Met and I didn't even notice

Tuesday, November 06, 2012

This was my goal:

210 - Oct 24
200 - Nov 28
185 - Jan 30
160 - April 3
150 - May 15, 2013

It turns out, I hit 210 on 10/13, and I didn't even notice I hit a goal! That's very cool.

I have only lost about 2 lbs since then, so things have been slow going and I got discouraged, but just realizing I hit my first goal helps me a lot!

Next goal up: 200 lbs by November 28. Since my progress has been so slow in the past month, I'm not sure I'll be able to lost 8 pounds by the 28th, but I guess I will just keep on trucking and reevaluate on the 28th!

With the holidays coming up, you have GREAT incentive for paying close attention.... even if you don't reach your goals on your schedule you will be way ahead of those who are eating mindlessly...

State of the Heather

Thursday, September 20, 2012

I'm basically reposting a journal entry from last year. Hey, it's a good post. I want to remind myself about how the same things keep coming up year after year. Time is gonna pass anyway. Might as well change slowly as time goes by!

I'm about 220 right now. Eventually I would like to get down to about 150 (and then see how I feel - haha!), but first things first:

210 - Oct 24
200 - Nov 28
185 - Jan 30
160 - April 3
150 - May 15, 2013

Wouldn't that be AMAZING? To be your goal weight in less than a year? Is it seriously possible? Well, if I work really hard.

I'll have to lose about 7.5 lbs a month to make that happen. That means 1/4 lb a day, or 1.75 a week.

When I put it that way, it doesn't seem that bad. To lose .25 lb a day, I need to eat 875 calories less per day than I would to maintain my weight. That means 1125 a day (if I suppose that I need 2000 a day to maintain).

Or, I could eat the goal calories of 1240-1590 a day, and make sure I burn the difference by working out.

When you do the math, it seems challenging, but achievable.

Motivations for losing weight:
1. my body hates me being this heavy (i'm uncomfortable, sore, etc.)
2. I want to spend the rest of my youth being a healthy weight
3. I want to be energetic
4. I want to get disciplined in other areas of my life too, but I can't do all of them at once.

Possible pitfalls:
1. laziness -- giving in to temptation because i'm a laidback person
2. my job -- I sit at a desk all day so I need to figure out how to be more active

This is me last time I got down to 185. I look awesome!

    Do-able, absolutely....

But remember that there are victories that have nothing to do with the scale, more strength, more focus, better sleep, wise choices... you can do it!
