A Good Day!

Monday, November 08, 2010

Well, it was a good day until just as I finished my title, the buzzer rang and my cup cakes were ready to come out of the oven. Though I prefer to call them muffins because then they don't need frosting. Anyway, I took them out of the oven and as I was taking the first one out of the muffin pan, the bottom came off of it. Then I realized that I had sprayed one of the pans but not the other one. Oh well, I figured the other pan would be okay. Well, I did spray it but they stuck also. I was using a Hungry Girl recipe. A yellow cake mix with a can of cream soda. Now that shouldn't have made them stick. I am sure they will taste okay but it was quite a disappointment. There was a day when I would have eaten all 24 of them just to get rid of them. But those days are gone so we will just have to make do with how they look. Only 90 calories each but 90 times 24 would add up to about two and a half days calories. So I will settle for just one. And call it a good day anyway.

It's funny you mention that there was a day when you would have eaten all 24 of them to get rid of them. I have had that mentality in the past and still struggle once in a while with that kind of thinking. Eating something all at once to "get rid of it" (instead of throwing it in the trash or putting them down the garbage disposal), then feeling the brief relief of having it out of the house, then feeling the panic of not having anything sweet to eat, then the guilt of all of it. Aren't you glad you're not stuck in that rut anymore? The biggest thing for me was realizing it isn't about willpower, it's about trust. Trusting yourself to not devour the whole thing and be totally out of control. I'm proud of you. What a great way to live, having a little of something you like and not having it spin out of control. emoticon emoticon

A Message From The Past!!

Sunday, November 07, 2010

Have you ever heard of FutureMe.org? That is a place where you can write a letter to yourself and they will email it to you in the future on whatever day you choose. Over the year I have received one of these now and then. But today I got one that I had written to myself 13 months ago, on October 7, 2009. How exciting was that!!
I asked myself how I was doing now that it was November 7, 2010. I asked if I am still going to water aerobics. Sad to say, though I was very faithful at it a year ago, I have gotten out of the habit. I asked if I am still eating healthy and I am glad to say that I am for the most part. I asked if I am still losing weight. Again I am glad to say that since then I have lost another 36 pounds and met my goal.
I reminded myself that I have many friends on Sparks and that I was to be sure to go back to thank them after reading my letter if I have progressed.
So I am here to give a BIG THANK YOU to all my Spark friends. Without you, I could never have done it!!
And, of course, an extra BIG THANK YOU to Chris, the Spark Guy!! He is my hero!!

Arlene, this is the first challenge I have posted on the Attitude of Gratitude challenge team. I love it. I have been doing it for years and using it on the challenge teams ever since last years Thankful Bankfull challenge. I think its a great way to motivate yourself.

Ten Reasons I Have Gotten Off Track!!

Friday, November 05, 2010

10. I thought "hey. I reached my goal, now I can relax." NOT
9. For a couple of days I didn't track my food and for me that
didn't work.
8. I ran out of veggies to roast.
7. I bought ice cream and ate way too much.
6. I used regular flavoring for my iced coffee instead of sugar free.
5. I failed to remember how easy it is to gain but hard to lose.
4. I stocked up on my dark chocolate and then ate more because there was
more.
3. I had company for dinner and then scarfed down the left overs
2. I allowed myself to purchase a bag of Cheetos because they were by the
check out counter.
1. And the Number one reason~~~~~pure stupidity!!

You know what Arlene, you are NOT stupid. You are smart because you caught yourself before it got out of hand, and you listed the reasons why the gain happened. Now you are better prepared for maintenance. I know you will lost those few pounds again and keep them off.

Now if you want to talk about someone being stupid, that would be me. I lost 86 lbs and gained them all back. If I had been as smart as you I would have gotten myself together sooner and been a success at maintenance. Oh well, at least I learned from it.

As someone that knows Chester Cheeto's very well, I suggest you stay away from him, as far as you can.

You are going to get back to goal Arlene, Take it one day at a time, emoticon

Ahhh Arlene, it is so easy to slide back into our old habits.

we work so hard to get where we get and then we relax.

love the list, and I know you will get back on track.

Oh Arlene I'm so with you on most of these.. of course we will just switch the cheetos for ritz crackers and I am with you 100% I am still holding on and I know it is just sheer luck that I didn't gain after all the kit kats around here.. they are gone and my pants still fit....LOL I know I will not get this lucky again... today hubby got a chocolate shake and I had a few spoonfuls.. there is no way I could tempt fate so much as to have my own... did that last weekend..LOL good news is this place closes for the winter next week or so...
I hope you can get right back at your goal... just take one day at a time... dust off that bike and ride with me... just 10 minutes a day... no it doesn't burn tons of calories but we are moving and feeling better about it.. then we can get further the stronger we get... I wish you all the luck.. I'm here for you if you just need to chat... it sounds like we have the same little voice in our ears.. I bet there are more like us too...
Take Care My friend.... Ronie
