Today

Friday, March 22, 2013

So today I tried something different. I got up, made my breakfast and then waited an hour and went to a water aerobics class that lasted for an hour. I got home and I realized something. I got my workout done and I was done for the day. I still need to try to be active and not just sit on my butt all day but I have the REST of the day to do nothing but enjoy my day off. Instead of spending the day, hoping I make it to the gym or hoping I get a work out in and then feeling guilty. I don't have to worry about that today. No guilt. It is an amazing feeling. I also got a lot more done today than I normally do on my days off.

Goodbye Bad Week

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Well my bad week streak is offically over. Yesterday I spent a lot of time in the kitchen (well longer than normal) and was even able to treat myself to a blizzard, without going over my calories.

Yesterday morning, I started the day by making 100 calorie Blueberry Muffins. I had two of them and they were pretty good. I"ve got a few ideas on how to tweak them next week. They are not a bad option for quick and easy breakfast ideas.

For lunch, I went to Subway and got a salad. Right now, hubby and I are on opposite schedules so on my days off he's usually asleep until 4pm and I'm wide awake at 8am.

Then before dinner, we went to the pool at the local gym and did some water training for about 45 minutes. Mainly we just walked back and forth across the pool with a few races in between. He beats me every time we race but I was close at the halfway point this week. Maybe another month or two.

Then for dinner, we had Island Chicken with a Mango/Pineapple Salsa. It was an interesting recipe and I think it turned out great. I think I may have needed to chop the fruit up better for the salsa. Overnight, I cooked up some cilantro lime chicken for tacos for the week. It was a lot of preparation yesterday but It was nice to be in control of the food going in my mouth and not letting McDonalds or PIzza Hut control it.

The last few days

Saturday, March 16, 2013

I have had some awful bad last few days. I think a lot of it is because of not being at work. I got my gym membership again, a little earlier than the month because I got a good deal.

Last night I went to a movie and ended up getting candy. I'm just scared that this bad week is going to turn into another bad week. I just have to work harder on my days off.

First, don't beat yourself up. Then, reframe your attitude, from "I can't" to "I can do this!" I'm rooting for you win!!

Take one meal and one day at a time. If you go off track, don't think about starting back the next day or next Monday or next 1st of the month-just start again at the next meal. We all have bad days and things we do that we shouldn't. emoticon

Try to stay positive and don't focus on the set backs. Just try to move forward and believe in yourself! emoticon

Why you shouldn't weigh in daily...My personal experience

Monday, March 11, 2013

So I weigh myself every Monday. Last week I weighed in at 377.8. Well a few times during the week I had weighed myself and it fluctated between 374 to 376 to 378 and all around those ranges. So today, when I got on the scale it said 373.8. I was so bummed. In my mind, 374 was the last time I weighed last week and I was only down a pound. My husband was really supportive and telling me it was at least a loss.

Then I went to add it in my spark people log and I saw my weigh in from last week. So after today, no more weighing in on any day than Monday morning. I do not want that disappointed feeling to wash over me again. It was devestating.

On a side note, have not felt like working out today so I only did 20 minutes on the bike at work. I'm having the worst time with working out so I'm really just focused on getting at least 20 minutes of a work out in every day, something cardio.

I am renting the Zumba game on the Wii. i'm going to try that out on Wednesday or Thursday.

Great idea! Weighing in every day is counter productive.

Even a pound down is better than a pound up, and you lost 4 of them! but you're right, you should weigh only once a week at most. And try to make it same time of day, same amount of clothing, etc.

I think everyone has to work out for themselves what motivates them best, discourages them least, and has the best chance of helping them attain and maintain their goals in the long term. For you it may be weekly, for me it's daily, but all that's really important is that we know what the numbers really mean, and we stay focused on the process.

20 minutes is great. You do what you can do, and maybe at some point it will be more.

Congrats on the loss. :)

I just did 10 min walk/ jog and a 10 minute bike session. Small increments add up so keep on exercising. Have a good night.

Successful Dinner Last Night

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Even though I'm starting to cook more healthy choices, and be really conscious about my food, my hubby is not quite on board yet. He stills loves going to McDonalds and Wendy's, but he is more thoughtful of my new life style when he makes those choices.

So the last two nights we've cooked at home and both times I've taken our food and changed some items to make it better for me.

On Friday night, we took ground beef and Kraft Fresh Taste Four Cheese and made hamburgers. The difference in mine versus Mike's? Mine did not have a bun, had ketchup and mustard and no cheese. Difference in calories? 200 And it didn't really effect the meal at all. I did end up being a little hungry but I think that was because of the TOM.

Last night we decided to make Chicken Fajitas. We normally do a single chicken breast, fajita sauce, cheese rolled into tortillas to make burritos, or into quesadillas. The difference in what I had versus Mike? Instead of a tortilla I used lettuce and made a salad. i had guacamole and fat free sour cream with my chicken and 1/4 cup of cheese instead of 1/2 cup. Honestly, because of the sour cream and guacamole, there was not a lot of difference in the calories, but it had a lot more veggies.

I took the left over bell peppers to work today to dip in some ranch dressing as a snack. I love bell pepper but after having my gall bladder removed, it's not something I can snack on all the time.

I however, was running late and was not very prepared for lunch today. I have to probably go out but I just do not know what I want to do.
