Have been a member for a while and have had the book for a couple of months. Started reading and was really focused for a while. And, then have just let things go. My excuse: I have been too busy. I am old now - 72 last Nov. - working parttime (30 hours a week) - have evening commitments 3 times a week. And, recently there have been additional activities at church that have taken time: our Spring Bazaar, our Grad Recognition Banquet, a funeral - and as the church secretary there are things I am responsible for. Sounds like a whiner!!
But, it is time to GET SERIOUS - if I am going to lose some of this weight. I know that when I eat better and exercise regularly I do feel so much better and have so much more energy and desire to do whatever God has planned for my day. And, I do not want to miss anything. Also, i have a daughter and her family here in Pendleton - 3 granddaughters, 16, 12 and 10 - and I do not spend enough time with them. More excuses!
Love this section of SparkPeople. Being able to read where others are is so encouraging - I don't feel like I am all alone and that others share the same struggles I have. And, being able to blog as I read thru the book.
So, that is my story!!

Oh, my goodness!! I have lost 4 pounds and 7 inches (waist, hips, and thigh.)
Did not realize I had lost that many inches - just had to go back to my diary and check again!!
And, yes, the figures are correct.
And, my stress level is almost ocean bottom level. Actually, I do not stress out easily. Guess that comes from my parents. They were so solid and secure. Guess that comes from living thru the depression.
Energy level wavers some. Last week I was so tired by evening - felt like God could just move me Home. Like "today would be a good day!!" So, got lots of extra sleep over the weekend. And, now feel like I can do another week. Also, the warm sunny days do boost my "get up and go". And, do get an evening out. Meeting a group for Mexican and then going to the community college for a play - "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." One of the youth in our church plays the lead - so that will make it extra special.

Have been more tired this week - but have had lots going on. Most every evening this week there is some place to go. Tues evening am in a study called "Walking with God" by John Eldridge and have been impressed with the thought that God promises us that His burden is light and that He truly wants us to have joy in our lives each day. But, how can we have that peace and joy when we are so busy every day trying to "do everything."
I am learning that He just wants me to "Be" each day and to take in all that He has for me.
I don't think He is as concerned with what I "do" as I am.
So, did not go to Bible study this evening - my Pastor tells me it is OK to say "No".
It is 8:15 - and am soon off to bed.
Tomorrow will think about all that is on my calendar the rest of the week.

Am having such a hard time drinking water!! Love my coffee in the morning - but just having a time getting that water down.
A few years ago, would slice a lemon, quarter each slice, and freeze, Then I would add a piece to my water bottle for the day - and that helped lots!!! Had forgotten about doing that until recently when I picked up some lemons at the grocery store.
So, have a piece in my Camelbak today. Will see if that will help. So far, 16 ounces down and it is only 11 a.m. Maybe I can reach my goal of 32 ounces today.
Exercising each day is getting so much easier. Have a couple of Nicole's DVD and just love them - do something different each day. Even yesterday when i did not have anything scheduled, found I just had to do something!!
Dieting is not an issue for me. I just need to eat healtier. Our Farmer's Market is Fridays - missed it this past week, but plan to shop there each week - that will help. I do love salads and that is a regular for my lunch. I find lots of items to add: pickled beets, chickpeas, frozen corn, frozen peas, tuna, spinach. Always looking for something different to add.
