Lesson Learned

Sunday, March 28, 2010

I have really!! learned a lesson the past couple of weeks. I have been doing some yard work and spring cleaning. Have been doing my cardio - walking (mostly inside) but have neglected the strength building exercises. And, today I am paying for it!! Big time. When I started, I was amazed at the effect just a few exercises each morning can have on the way I feel during the day - and the flexibility I experienced. Like being able to tie my shoes without a struggle.

And, now I feel like I am right back where I started. So, back to basics!!! Starting today. - - - - - I have been drinking more water - still not enough - and have been taking my calcium and vitamins - still not regularly. I think it is time to make a collage for the front of my fridge. I do not have a problem with my diet. I do love food, but can cut back easily. I love salads and fruit. Right now am on a spinach salad kick emoticon, spinach, tomato, red onion, and feta cheese. Yumm, yumm!!
Have unshelled peanuts for a snack at work - I count out ten each morning and that is my limit for the day. If I bought the shelled I would eat tooooo many.

Well, enough rambling for this morning. Just want you newbies to remember to be faithful each day! Some days even a little when you do not feel like it - just to keep up the routine. This is what I have felt in so many of the blogs I have read here. So encouraging.

Lesson learned - so off to do some exercises this morning - even tho it is not scheduled!! emoticon

I tend to drop out of site when I have one bad day. You know that day - the one where you ate too many calories or had a cocktail or two? I gingerly step on the scale and if it goes up I get down.

Keep your positive energy going!

A Good Day

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

I enjoyed lunch with my daughter today. We walked from the church (where I work) to Subway. She had a sandwich and I had a salad. It is just beautiful here today - about 68 right now.

After I got home, I did some weeding out front. The bed was full of leaves. The ground is full of rocks - we are just above the river - the dirt is quite shallow. So mostly we here in the apartment use big pots.

I am doing better taking my vitamins and calcium - and have been drinking my water every day - now to get it all posted.

Also, talked to my son who lives in Vancouver, WA and we are planning to meet in Hood River in a couple of weeks. We did last year and had a great time.

Thanks for all the Responses

I just want to thank all of you who responded to my blog about taking my calcium and vitamins. I have actually taken them the past two days. Gotta keep this up!!

Seems like I focus on one goal and another gets neglected. Have not been exercising consistently the past couple of weeks. But, I have been getting lots of spring cleaning done. Have changed most of the lightbulbs in our apartment. Seems like they all go out at the same time. Have cleaned the fridge from top to bottom and cleaned out all the cupboards in the kitchen. My next project is the coat closet. Seems like there is everything in there except coats!!! Can't even get to the shelves in there. And they really need a purging!!

Now, to eat some breakfast and then get ready for church.
Have a great day - all of you wonderful friends.

A Confession

Friday, March 19, 2010

I so faithfully put my calcium and vitamin tablets in my pocket every morning, and then, in the evening, place them on my dresser. Why, oh why, can't I just take them sometime during the day??? Like, with breakfast or dinner??
I have been told that they do not work by osmosis! When I was working, my supervisor would have me take them out of my pocket and put them next to my computer - she even brought be a cute little dish to put them in! But did that help? NO!!
So, here I am still carrying them in my pocket.
Just gotta get them down - I know that when I do take them - they do make a difference in how I feel.

Right now - they are in my pocket and I have just eaten breakfast - a good time to take at least one of them. Will see if i can't take them today!

Taking vitamins has become a habit and I rarely forget. I keep a container with Viactiv calcium chews by my computer so I do remember to take those. They taste good and are sweet tasting treat after a meal.

What do you use for your water? Do you buy new bottles of water or do you have a re-fillable one. I would put them with your water bottle. make a pouch out of a sandwich bag and bubber band and put it on your water bottle then everytime you take a drink its in you way. I wish you luck. I have a hard time remembering them on the weekends. Thats when my routine is dependent on family members..

How about programming it into your calendar at work on your computer? It should have the function that you can schedule reminders so you could type it Monday-Friday at the same time so the memo pops up Take Vitamins. I would program it for a couple of months at least until you know you will be in the habit of taking them.

Getting into the habit of taking supplements is not easy! I leave all my bottles right where I cook, so as I grab my breakfast plate, I grab my vitamin/pills/supplements! One day is a good start, make it a streak!

A Stressful Week

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

The past couple of weeks have been quite stressful - family issues from the past that have surfaced - again. And, the death of a beautiful lady in our church. She and her husband were part of the group that established the Church of God here. She and her husband were married for over 60 years - so now he is alone. There are children in Portland, Eugene, and California.
Not sure what he will do now.

So, I am having my headaches again! Not fun. But, God is still on His Throne. And, I know that He will continue to be my Strength in the next few days.
