"A man who wants something will find a way; a man who doesn’t will find an excuse.”

I have this quote on a sticky on my desktop - not sure where i got it - must be from someone's blog here on SparkPeople - or perhaps one of the inspirational quotes. But it so applies to me today.

I met with Elaine this morning for our visit and time of Bible study. And we talked about our weight - she was at the doctor yesterday and he basically told her she needs to loose some weight. So we have decided to encourage each other. Now we need to set goals and a time-frame. I want to loose 25 pounds this year - that is only 2 pounds a month. Does sound doable - but it won'd happen if i don"t find a way - and not find excuse!!

I love the challenges from the teams that i am a part of - but I sign up and then do not always follow thru. I can read all the encouraging blogs from others who have been successful, but that won't help me if i do not apply what I learn! Like taking my meds for my blood pressure. I put them in my pocket to take later - and then in the evening take them out of my pocket and put on my dresser. My son keeps telling me they do not work by osmosis - i really do have to swallow them for them to work. And so it is, with losing weight, I have to eat better and become more active - - - - - - - - - -

Good for you Barb, it's great when you can do it with someone and you've set a realistic goal too.
I keep a bottle of water in the fridge so it's cold, have you tried it with a drop of lemon or lime juice?

That's a fantastic, realistic goal! You can definitely do this :)

Good for you! Your goal is realistic - it amounts to 1/2 pound each week. You've already located an accountability partner. NOW your challenge is to figure out what small steps you're going to take to get there! Is it eating 2 more vegetables each day (healthier nutrition leaving less room for unhealthier stuff)? Is it getting 10 more minutes of exercise this week, and increasing it when it becomes too easy to do? Is it getting 8 hours of sleep? 8 glasses of water? There are LOTS of small, achievable things you can work on. Can't wait to see what approach you'll take to "find a way"!

Snow This Morning

Monday, February 03, 2014

Woke up to snow this morning and it is so pretty!! I was planning to go to Walla Walla with a friend but decided not to when I saw snow in the forecast. She has a doctor appointment and we were going to do some shopping. I need to go to JoAnn's for fabric for muu muus for my sister. I have a pattern and want to make a couple of them for her. But that will have to wait - again. I just do not want to fall!!

And we were going to the yarn shop - we have a growing one here in Pendleton, but still do not have what I really want. I do shop on line at knitpicks.com and love the yarns i have gotten from them. May just have to go there again.

Here are a couple of pictures of our snow. I know it does not compare to what the East is getting, but i will take ours, Thank you!!

I love shopping and knitpicks, but love webs so much more especially since they give a discount of the purchase

stay safe

Had such fun surprising my sister. Greg had bought a laptop not long before he died and Geoff and I were talking about what we were going to do with it. I knew my sister has been wanting one, but just had no way to send it to her.

So, we ordered one like it and had it delivered to her - she was so delighted - except that she said she could not decide who to be mad at - me for doing it or Geoff for encouraging me to do it. But, it was ok when I told her that the money is coming from the account that Greg left for me. Not a lot, but enough to do a few special things for some of the family. And I know this is something Greg would want us to do.

Now I am learning to use the laptop - it has Windows 8 on it - so different from what I am used to on my Mac!! But know i will use it.

What a lovely gesture Barb, I know you miss your sister being nearer so it's a lovely way to keep in touch.
Have fun learning, I'm still trying to figure my new one out...lol... emoticon

Have decided to focus on one - just one - goal for each month during this year. Was going to last year and then life just got in the way. But this is my year!!

I know January is almost over, but for the rest of this month - and into the next - am going to get to the club at least 5 days a week. Today, i had the account at the club transferred from my daughter to me. Because of her working hours she just is not able to get there often enough to make it pay for her.
Went yesterday, Monday, and this afternoon - and only 3 more days this month. Should be able to do that - unless we get snowed in.

For February my goal will be to drink at least 4 glasses of water each day. i just do not drink enough water - so this will be hard for me. Did it once for 8 days straight - and I felt like i was going to drown. But, if i post it every day here on SparkPeople that will help keep me motivated.

And for the year i want to lose 25 pounds. That is only a couple of pounds a month. Should be able to do - especially if i focus on just one main goal each month - ones that will help me with my year's goal.

My Daughter's Birthday

Thursday, January 23, 2014

Tomorrow is my daughter's birthday - she will be 50! She was here recently and saw my memory pillow and now wants one. She is a "wanter" and so of course she would want a pillow like I have.

So today I picked up one for her at WalMart and yesterday I made a pillowcase for her. As you can see she loves horses.
