Had a good morning, Stopped at the library and picked up a couple of books, then to the club for 10 minutes on the treadmill. Not very long, but I have not been in a while.

When I got home, Greg was just getting up. He had a major headache - took a couple of tylenol and laid back down. He has gone off the steroids - probably not a good idea since they reduce the swelling in the brain. The doctor told him that if the headaches started again, to let him know. He has finished the radiation treatments and will start chemo this week.

Last weekend we had a visit with a friend of Greg's. He came up from Medford with his daughter, Sara. We had such a good time - just visiting, eating, and watching movies. It was just too warm to get out very much. And, now they are planning to come back in September for the Round-Up if they can get time off work. Sure hope they can come - they are truly beautiful people.

We had a very quiet 4th. Enjoyed the day just staying in and keeping cool!!

Glad you finally manged to get to the club Barb, it'll have done you good.

So sorry Greg is feeling so bad, hope the Doc can sort out something to make him more comfortable.
I'm sure the visit from Greg's friends will have done him good, some thing nice for him to remember.

We went on the Puffin Cruise on Saturday, the weather was magnificent, almost too hot , so the cooling breezes out at sea were very welcome. The water was calm and the birds performed beautifully. It was a really excellent trip and I really enjoyed it after the hassle of organising it all. I chartered the whole boat and 150 Women's Institute members filled it and loved it!

Sunday David & I went up into the Yorkshire Dales to the steam train at Levisham, it was another hot day so we ended up in the forestry. We took a picnic and ate it under the trees in peace and solitude except for the bird song...another wonderful day out.

Hope you have a relaxing week

Fourth of July!!

Thursday, July 04, 2013

We had such a fun weekend. Dale, a friend of Greg's, drove up from Medford to visit - and brought his daughter, Sara. They are really good people. We just visited, ate, and watched movies. They were here 3 days and plan to come in September for the Pendleton Round-Up. Hoping it will be a bit cooler - it was in the 100s while they were here so we did not get out much to see the town. But, during Round-Up there will be lots to see and do. Just hope they can both get off work to come.

Greg finished his radiation in Walla Walla and will start chemo here in Pendleton next week. Just hope he does not get too sick. He is already losing some hair from the radiation. This picture was taken a couple of years ago.

I do so love my boys. And Greg is so dependable and steady and loving.

Today Greg and I went by his house - he will probably not be able to live alone again - to pick up a few things and then to our favorite store - WalMart for a few groceries. And, of course, he found a couple of movies that we do not have - IronMan 2 and the John Adams miniseries. Then we fixed hamburgers for lunch - oh, so good. And, I just got up from a 2 hour nap.

It is cooler here today - in the mid 80s right now. I have not been very faithful with my challenges, but have lost another pound. May just be the stress of all that is happening in my family right now.

Just hope you are all having a memorable 4th of July. Our country seems to be struggling so right now - but we have a God that is so much bigger than our little issues. And, we do know that He truly is in control of all that happens - even when we may not understand. We can truly trust Him - as Greg has said, "We have to trust Him!!".

I'm glad you had a good visit Barb, it'll have done all of you the world of good.
Isn't it lovely when boys still want to do things with their mothers even when they're men.

Was good yesterday - well mostly. I did take my vitamins and calcium - and did get my 4 glasses of water! Dinner last night was home-made pizza. But, i did limit myself to 2 small pieces and a big salad. So all was not lost.

Am thinking about a challenge for myself for next week. I would like to start going to the club again - have not been since our lives were turned topsy-turvy!! Will think about this some more. I was feeling so much better when I was going every day - just 10 minutes a day. And, now my legs are really bothering me again. So i know it is time. And, I know that once I do go, I will feel so much better!!

It has turned warm - in the mid 90s and a predicted over 100 next week. Will see. Thank goodness for A/C.

Had a busy day - got a couple loads of laundry done this morning. Then this afternoon Greg and i went shopping. My sister had sent us a gift card for WalMart - so just had to use it. Then after putting away the groceries, we fixed spaghetti for dinner. Spaghetti, salad, and ice cream with frozen berries for dessert.

This evening have been knitting on a shawl - and looking at more sock yarn. Am just about out so time to get more!!

I got today off to a good start - met Elaine at the DoNot Shop. We have been studying the book of Romans since last October. Some times we do only a verse or 2 and sometimes we just visit and share what is going on in our lives. But, we are hoping to finish this awesome letter by Round-Up which is the 2nd week in September. And we just might!! Then we have not decided what our next study will be.

Have vacuumed the living room - took my fern outside - it is shedding just too many leaves for the corner where i have it. So am thinking about what to do with it. May just discard.

Vitamins: emoticon

Water: emoticon Now to get the other 2 glasses drank today. Now am going to knit a bit more and watched the 2nd Indiana Jones movie - well, will at least start it.

LATER:
Went to knitting group this evening - had a great time. There were 22 of us there - the largest group we have had since i started. Lots of visiting and knitting. Drank another glass of water - now one more and i will have my 4 glasses for the day. emoticon

Wed. Morning:
Had my 4th glass of water last night while i knit and watched half of the 2nd Indiana Jones movie. So got my 4 glasses down!! YEAH. emoticon
