My Daughter, Vicki

Monday, December 03, 2012

I just want to share a couple of pictures of my older daughter, Vicki, who is in a long term health care facility. I know some of you know that she had am "episode" in July of last year. No definite diagnosis - but she has not fully recovered and at this point, may not.

It is hard for me to look at these pictures. Just not my little Appleblossom - that is what her Grandfather called her.

This one was taken last fall - Vicki and my other daughter, Kathi:

This one was taken Thanksgiving with her two boys, Trevor and Ben. She has put on some weight. I just wish I were close enough to spend time with her - to do her hair and nails - and just love on her. But, she does look very content here.

This must be difficult for everyone involved, but she has a radiant smile -- this must mean she is able to find joy in her circumstances. In praying for her, I will also thank God for that!

Looks yummy! I'm afraid if I make it, I'll eat the whole pot. Soups are my bane.

Yesterday's Walk

Sunday, December 02, 2012

Took a short walk yesterday - just to the bridge and took a few pictures along the way.
There is an area under the bridge that had become quite littered. So a gentleman in the area decided it was time to clean up - and he has done so much. Now the city is thinking about putting a mini-park there. Would be great!!

It looks a typical back end day Barb, glad you got out for your walk emoticon

DH perked up and we went for a ride out in the afternoon, he managed one of our favourite short walks. It was cold and frosty, there'd been a light covering of snow which had frozen so it was quite slippy in places which I don't like...lol...but worth it. emoticon

Cooking Today

Friday, November 30, 2012

Am cooking again today- have some Hamburger Soup on the stove. Had to double the recipe this time - last time we just ate it up. Would like to put some in the freezer.

Yesterday I made some Cheddar-Sage Biscuits and they were so good. And, it was a big recipe - so some of those went into the freezer. Will go good with the soup.

Got my hair cut this morning - it had really grown in the past 5 weeks. Now don't feel so much like a "ragamuffin"!! It is really short - just the way I like it.

And, this afternoon am going to finish clearing off the patio. The past few days have been so cold and dreary - so promised myself that the next sunny day I would get outside. And it is partly sunny today - the sun is playing "hide and seek" - but it has warmed up a bit. So today is the day!!! No more procrastinating.

Would love for you to share your hamburger soup recipe. I found one on-line the other day, but it takes almost 12 hours in the slow cooker. I don't have that kind of time.

Baking Bread

Friday, November 16, 2012

Have been wanting to bake some bread for quite a while - so am just doing it today. Have it in the oven now and smells so good. I probably will eat too much, but I do love bread.

This evening will be meeting my son for dinner and a play at the college - will be such fun. We have season tickets with a group of friends - 4 plays this winter - and they are very good. This evening will be "Widdershins" - about a family who disappear without a trace. Should be good. Dinner with be at ElCharritos - our favorite Mexican restaurant. I usually have their tamale with a side salad. Always so good. May have something else this evening - will see that else they have.

Sounds a good night Barb, our series of recitals has finished until Spring and I already miss them.
The bread sound a good idea too!
I fancied corn bread with home made soup when you posted about it but there are so many recipes and we don't have it over here so I think I'll have to ask for your recipe and give it a try. emoticon
