Cooking Today

Friday, November 30, 2012

Am cooking again today- have some Hamburger Soup on the stove. Had to double the recipe this time - last time we just ate it up. Would like to put some in the freezer.

Yesterday I made some Cheddar-Sage Biscuits and they were so good. And, it was a big recipe - so some of those went into the freezer. Will go good with the soup.

Got my hair cut this morning - it had really grown in the past 5 weeks. Now don't feel so much like a "ragamuffin"!! It is really short - just the way I like it.

And, this afternoon am going to finish clearing off the patio. The past few days have been so cold and dreary - so promised myself that the next sunny day I would get outside. And it is partly sunny today - the sun is playing "hide and seek" - but it has warmed up a bit. So today is the day!!! No more procrastinating.

Would love for you to share your hamburger soup recipe. I found one on-line the other day, but it takes almost 12 hours in the slow cooker. I don't have that kind of time.

Baking Bread

Friday, November 16, 2012

Have been wanting to bake some bread for quite a while - so am just doing it today. Have it in the oven now and smells so good. I probably will eat too much, but I do love bread.

This evening will be meeting my son for dinner and a play at the college - will be such fun. We have season tickets with a group of friends - 4 plays this winter - and they are very good. This evening will be "Widdershins" - about a family who disappear without a trace. Should be good. Dinner with be at ElCharritos - our favorite Mexican restaurant. I usually have their tamale with a side salad. Always so good. May have something else this evening - will see that else they have.

Sounds a good night Barb, our series of recitals has finished until Spring and I already miss them.
The bread sound a good idea too!
I fancied corn bread with home made soup when you posted about it but there are so many recipes and we don't have it over here so I think I'll have to ask for your recipe and give it a try. emoticon

"If you quit..........."

Thursday, November 08, 2012

"If you quit, you are guaranteed to fail"!! What a concept!

Am just watching a movie and that was a line in it. I have so often, well, not entirely quit, but have just about given up. Recently have decided to just get to the club at least 5 days a week. Stopped there last night on my way to church - spent 10 minutes on the treadmill. Then stopped in this morning after a couple of errands and did 15 minutes on the treadmill. And it felt so good,

My problem is being able to fit the cost into my budget. Right now my daughter is paying for it, but not sure after the first of the year. Because of the hours she works, she may have to quit.

I do have a number of videos and there are so many good ones here on SparkPeople, but there is just something about the club that truly motivates me. Perhaps it is the atmosphere and the encouraging staff.

Will have to think about this one. And, go over my budget again - -- - - - -

a lot of clubs will actually work with you on cost if the expense is an issue.

even if you can't stay with the club there are other options to keep exercising or working towards other goals.

My Walk This Morning

Wednesday, November 07, 2012

Took a short walk this morning - it is a bit cooler and breezy but sunny and bright! Have decided that I need to get outside more - well, now that winter is on the way, I wonder how that is going to work out?? Why couldn't I have decided to do this in the summer when it was warmer?? Oh, well, I have decided so now to actually do it!!

Here are a few pictures I took. The city has been cleaning out and burning lots of slash under the bridge. The gentleman told me they are planning to eventually put a small park there. The other pictures are walking back toward home.

Looking toward home.

A small "Park".

Yesterday with Elaine

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Took a few pictures yesterday morning - have been meeting Elaine at the local donut shop for over a year - the owner is Vietnamese and said he has been in business here for over 15 years. And, he makes the best maple bars - my one, well, one of my weekly "cheats".

Here are some of the pictures.

Elaine, my Prayer Partner:

A group that we have become acquainted with - good people:

And all the "Donuts":

After my weekly Maple Bar I did get to the club for a walk on the treadmill and then Elaine and I met at the church to so some more trimming on the bushes. Had to make another trip to the dump after we filled the back of my pickup.

Elaine looks a 'smiley person' Barb, just what we all need. emoticon
It's good to meet up with friends and relax.
At least after your 'cheat' you worked it off at the gym and gardening...way to go! emoticon
