Yesterday with Elaine

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Took a few pictures yesterday morning - have been meeting Elaine at the local donut shop for over a year - the owner is Vietnamese and said he has been in business here for over 15 years. And, he makes the best maple bars - my one, well, one of my weekly "cheats".

Here are some of the pictures.

Elaine, my Prayer Partner:

A group that we have become acquainted with - good people:

And all the "Donuts":

After my weekly Maple Bar I did get to the club for a walk on the treadmill and then Elaine and I met at the church to so some more trimming on the bushes. Had to make another trip to the dump after we filled the back of my pickup.

Elaine looks a 'smiley person' Barb, just what we all need. emoticon
It's good to meet up with friends and relax.
At least after your 'cheat' you worked it off at the gym and gardening...way to go! emoticon

The Storm

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

I was just looking at some of the pictures of the storm on the East Coast. It is hard to look at all the devastation!!

We can only pray for all of those affected. And, know that God truly is in control. Sometimes it is hard to trust, but that is exactly what He asks of us!

Yes are faith can certainly be tested, but in times like those I imagine they are doing allot of praying. emoticon

The Weekend

Monday, October 29, 2012

It is so warm here this morning - had to open the windows. There is a cool breeze and the sun us out bright and inviting. Well, there are a few clouds - but the do not look threatening.

Plans for today include laundry and a bit of housecleaning - not much tho. I just want to play. So will be meeting my son this afternoon - not sure what we will do - he has a couple of extra days off this week. He works nights so it is hard for us to get together.''

Had dinner at my daughter's yesterday - a good time.

Only took a couple of pictures:

Jill, my 12 year old granddaughter, being herself!!

Sami is 19 now - oh, my how she is growing up. She is married and has a step-son, Aiden, who is 2. This is a new hair cut for her - just a month ago her hair was long with a reddish tint.

Their sun room - very inviting:

Glad to see you've got to grips with the camera Barb, you sound as if you had a lovely day...you're family are beautiful. emoticon

Our weather's gone the same way as yours, not quite 'open windows' weather but dry and bright, a lot lot better than the squally wintery showers we have had. emoticon

I'm going to an organ recital this afternoon. emoticon

Soup and Cornbread!!

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

Soup's ready and there is cornbread baking in the oven!! When the Schwan's guy stopped this morning, he said you could smell the soup out to the street!! Velva, my neighbor bakes her own bread and the smell is so tantalizing. So today I am making cornbread (my favorite) and next will be soda bread (my son's favorite).

I have been doing the Healthy Cooking Challenge and my challenge is a new recipe each week. This week will be Tex-Mex Slow Cooker Chicken. Need to make sure I have all the ingredients and will probably make Saturday for Sunday dinner. That's my plan for now.

The tex-mex chicken sounds good too, I use my slow cooker a lot!

Nice Walk and a New Camera on the Way!!!

Monday, October 15, 2012

I took a walk this morning - to the library to return a book and then by the bank to pick up quarters for laundry. Had a sweatshirt on and it was too much - must have been in the 70s by the time I got back home. Really nice out -

I found a camera on amazon.com and have ordered it - should arrive within a week. Now am so anxious to get it. I took a couple of pictures with my camera, but now not sure how to download. The river is very low right now - we had so little snow last winter - sure hope we get more this year. I can say that now, since I am retired and do not have to drive in it. Except, that my daughter drives to Hermiston to work - about 30 miles mostly freeway - and it can be bad. She does have a fairly new car and is a good driver, but still....... i only wish she worked here in town, but she does so love her job.

    Lucky you, the 70's eh!
We've got wind and rain but there are sunny patches now and again.

It's easy to upload pictures Barb, all the instructions and the lead from the camera to computer come with the camera so you'll be fine. You'll soon be snapping away and uploading like a pro! emoticon
