Soup and Cornbread!!

Soup's ready and there is cornbread baking in the oven!! When the Schwan's guy stopped this morning, he said you could smell the soup out to the street!! Velva, my neighbor bakes her own bread and the smell is so tantalizing. So today I am making cornbread (my favorite) and next will be soda bread (my son's favorite).

I have been doing the Healthy Cooking Challenge and my challenge is a new recipe each week. This week will be Tex-Mex Slow Cooker Chicken. Need to make sure I have all the ingredients and will probably make Saturday for Sunday dinner. That's my plan for now.

I took a walk this morning - to the library to return a book and then by the bank to pick up quarters for laundry. Had a sweatshirt on and it was too much - must have been in the 70s by the time I got back home. Really nice out -

I found a camera on amazon.com and have ordered it - should arrive within a week. Now am so anxious to get it. I took a couple of pictures with my camera, but now not sure how to download. The river is very low right now - we had so little snow last winter - sure hope we get more this year. I can say that now, since I am retired and do not have to drive in it. Except, that my daughter drives to Hermiston to work - about 30 miles mostly freeway - and it can be bad. She does have a fairly new car and is a good driver, but still....... i only wish she worked here in town, but she does so love her job.

Lucky you, the 70's eh! We've got wind and rain but there are sunny patches now and again. It's easy to upload pictures Barb, all the instructions and the lead from the camera to computer come with the camera so you'll be fine. You'll soon be snapping away and uploading like a pro! Morning Walk and Dining Out!!

Took a walk this morning to Washington School and then back along the river walk. Took my camera and got some pictures of the clouds. But as I crossed the river, my camera stopped working - I think is has died. So will be looking for a new one soon. Have been wanting to get a new one and this is a great excuse!!

A second note: Have been reading articles about the nutrients in the offerings at restaurants and what an eye-opener!! I eat out Saturday evenings with my oldest. (He was coming here, but because of family issues, we are meeting out.). We eat mostly at local restaurants, so their menus are not on the internet. But, I have been comparing some of the things I do order and WOW - I thought I was eating fairly healthy. Well, I am eating better than I was last year. We like Shari's here - similar to Denny's - and a local Mexican restaurant. One thing Greg and I have been doing is to share a meal - and we find it is plenty for both of us.

It is such a great time of the year to be walking! sorry to hear your camera is on the outs. Hope you can get a new one soon........It is wonderful that you & your son can get together (mine are scattered across the country and more than a day's drive away). Sharing is a great way to cut the calories! If my hubby and I don't share a meal I always make sure I bring 1/2 of it home for the next days lunch. Have fun today! Report Inappropriate Comment

My Walk

Took a walk yesterday afternoon - the temp was in the low 70s - and a beautiful day. The leaves are starting to change colors and some of the flowers have frozen during our cold nights.



But some of the poppies are still bright and sunny/



Last Friday evening or into the night we had some vandals in our neighborhood This "castle" is so popular with all the children - have spent a number of hours here with my granddaughters. It is hard to understand how someone could do this.

Glad you got out for your walk Barb, those poppies are really bright and cheerful! We had our first frost last night, -2 degrees so it looks like Autumn is finally on her way, it'll be the signal for the trees to change. It's bright and sunny this morning so I'm doing the laundry.
