WATER - Oct. 7 - 13

Monday, October 08, 2012

Last week my goal was to drink 4 glasses of water each day - by the end of the week I was there!! YEAH!!

So this week my goal is 5 glasses each day. It did help inspire me knowing that I would be posting my progress here!!

Sunday, Oct. 7: 4 glasses - one glass was juice. Off to a good start!!
Monday: Oct. 8 - 4 glasses of water and one glass of juice!
Tuesday: Oct. 9 - 4 glasses of water.
Wednesday: Oct. 10 - 4 glasses of water and one glass of juice!!
Thursday: Oct. 11 - was aiming for 5 glasses each day, but am doing well just to drink 4 glasses. But, it is so much easier than it has been in the past. And a glass of juice really helps.
The rest of the week only managed 4 glasses a day - but that is more than I had been drinking - so feel like I am making progress. So, next week must do better.

Exercise

Saturday, October 06, 2012

On SparkCoach today we are being challenged to "shake up" our exercise schedule. I do have a schedule but do not follow it very faithfully!! So perhaps my challenge would be to actually follow it for a week.

My "excuse" for this week is that I have been so stressed the past couple of weeks - mostly family situations. But, as I tell my granddaughters, these are just excuses - not reasons - and there is a difference. How often do we use excuses for not doing something we really do not want to do.

I have posted about drinking more water and am actually doing better this week. So perhaps it is time to post about following my workout plan for just one week. I think I have strength and cardio both for today. Will check and post here after I do it!!

Saturday: Strength Training - emoticon
Sunday: Scheduled Day Off - Church in the Morning and time with son n the afternoon.
Monday: Strength exercises this morning - a walk in the neighborhood this afternoon.
Tuesday: Elliptical - 4 minutes and Treadmill 12 minutes.
Wednesday: Nothing schedules. Did not get out and walk - but, did a bit of yard work and
some heavy duty house cleaning.
Thursday; Walked in the neighborhood this morning and then in the park with my daughter
this afternoon.

WATER

Sunday, September 30, 2012

I just have the hardest time drinking enough water!! I see where some drink the 64 oz a day - how do you get that much down??? I feel like I am doing great when I drink 4 glasses - let's see, that is about 32 oz. I have tried all the "tricks" - iced water, adding a bit of lemon (that works best for me).

So, my goal for this week is to drink the 4 glasses every day. Oh, now I have put it out there - so now will need to actually follow thru and do it!! I do know that it does make a difference in how I feel - and I have noticed that my ankles are not so dry and puffy. Seems like that should be a good motivator. Will see!!

Sunday: 3.5 glasses!
Monday: 3 glasses! - Gotta do better than that!!!
Tuesday: 3 glasses! - Well, I am trying! emoticon
Wednesday: 3 glasses.
Thursday: 4 glasses - well, finally. But I feel like I cheated because 2 glasses were orange juice!!

Friday: 4 glasses!! And all water! YEAH!!
Saturday: 4 glasses of water and 1 glass of orange juice

I have gotten to where I hate drinking water. I'm lucky if I drink 12 oz. per day. I really need to work on this too! I use crystal light type products to get any amount in me!

I have to agree with you on the water. It's the toughest part for me. Who would have thought exercising and eating limited calories would be easier than drinking water! You have to start somewhere and I think 4 glasses per day is a great start! Good for you!

How to Deal with Stress??

Friday, September 28, 2012

Oh, my, how stress can take its tole!! Greg, my oldest son, is not coming over for "dinner and a movie" for a while. He and Geoff are so different - almost opposite religious beliefs and political views. So Greg and I will just be meeting later this evening for a "Night out!".

Yesterday I took my pickup in for some repairs - walked back home and then later walked down to pick it up. Also, walked in the neighborhood. Got in lots of steps and was able to "shed" some of that stress. But, can certainly feel it again this morning.

And, this morning on SparkCoach, Dietician Becky Hand shared ways to handle stress. Some things I do, but i do know that exercise is such a good way to release some of it. Something else i do is knitting while watching a favorite movie or tv show. And, with my knitting have finished 3 pairs of socks which will be Christmas presents.

Oh, I do so appreciate the SparkCoach program. I feel like I am gaining so much from it. I especially feel so challenged by the videos. Thank you so much, Spark People!!

    Don't worry be happy!
Good luck and best wishes!

P.S. For added motivation you might want to watch Dr Wayne Dyer's Wishes Fulfilled. It's available to watch on YouTube (last I looked).

SparkCoach

I am truly getting so much from Spark Coach - especially the daily tracking. i feel more motivated to check in and follow the "plan". Feels more accountable -
And the videos seem so much more personal - I really feel more challenged!!

I do like the old version of the fitness tracker - it gives me a daily plan to follow - the new one does not and somedays I just feel lost as to what to do. Even tho I do have favorite exercises and love the videos. Sometimes it is hard to find ones that I like and can do. But, it is easy to switch between the two trackers - and that I do appreciate!!

Have not been going to the club as regularly as I should - but I think this is the day!! No excuses!!

I'm glad you're finding the SparkCoach useful, I tried the free trial but never went any further with it as it offered more or less what I'm doing on a daily basis any way so I found it wasn't for me.
Have a good time at the club emoticon
