Morning Walk and Dining Out!!

Took a walk this morning to Washington School and then back along the river walk. Took my camera and got some pictures of the clouds. But as I crossed the river, my camera stopped working - I think is has died. So will be looking for a new one soon. emoticon Have been wanting to get a new one and this is a great excuse!!

A second note: Have been reading articles about the nutrients in the offerings at restaurants and what an eye-opener!! I eat out Saturday evenings with my oldest. (He was coming here, but because of family issues, we are meeting out.). We eat mostly at local restaurants, so their menus are not on the internet. But, I have been comparing some of the things I do order and WOW - I thought I was eating fairly healthy. Well, I am eating better than I was last year. We like Shari's here - similar to Denny's - and a local Mexican restaurant. One thing Greg and I have been doing is to share a meal - and we find it is plenty for both of us.

    emoticon It is such a great time of the year to be walking! emoticonsorry to hear your camera is on the outs. Hope you can get a new one soon........It is wonderful that you & your son can get together (mine are scattered across the country and more than a day's drive away). Sharing is a great way to cut the calories! If my hubby and I don't share a meal I always make sure I bring 1/2 of it home for the next days lunch. Have fun today!

My Walk

Took a walk yesterday afternoon - the temp was in the low 70s - and a beautiful day. The leaves are starting to change colors and some of the flowers have frozen during our cold nights.



But some of the poppies are still bright and sunny/



Last Friday evening or into the night we had some vandals in our neighborhood This "castle" is so popular with all the children - have spent a number of hours here with my granddaughters. It is hard to understand how someone could do this.

    Glad you got out for your walk Barb, those poppies are really bright and cheerful!
We had our first frost last night, -2 degrees so it looks like Autumn is finally on her way, it'll be the signal for the trees to change.
It's bright and sunny this morning so I'm doing the laundry.

Vandals are morons, they need stamping on!

WATER - Oct. 7 - 13

Last week my goal was to drink 4 glasses of water each day - by the end of the week I was there!! YEAH!!

So this week my goal is 5 glasses each day. It did help inspire me knowing that I would be posting my progress here!!

Sunday, Oct. 7: 4 glasses - one glass was juice. Off to a good start!!
Monday: Oct. 8 - 4 glasses of water and one glass of juice!
Tuesday: Oct. 9 - 4 glasses of water.
Wednesday: Oct. 10 - 4 glasses of water and one glass of juice!!
Thursday: Oct. 11 - was aiming for 5 glasses each day, but am doing well just to drink 4 glasses. But, it is so much easier than it has been in the past. And a glass of juice really helps.
The rest of the week only managed 4 glasses a day - but that is more than I had been drinking - so feel like I am making progress. So, next week must do better.

Exercise

On SparkCoach today we are being challenged to "shake up" our exercise schedule. I do have a schedule but do not follow it very faithfully!! So perhaps my challenge would be to actually follow it for a week.

My "excuse" for this week is that I have been so stressed the past couple of weeks - mostly family situations. But, as I tell my granddaughters, these are just excuses - not reasons - and there is a difference. How often do we use excuses for not doing something we really do not want to do.

I have posted about drinking more water and am actually doing better this week. So perhaps it is time to post about following my workout plan for just one week. I think I have strength and cardio both for today. Will check and post here after I do it!!


Saturday: Strength Training - emoticon
Sunday: Scheduled Day Off - Church in the Morning and time with son n the afternoon.
Monday: Strength exercises this morning - a walk in the neighborhood this afternoon.
Tuesday: Elliptical - 4 minutes and Treadmill 12 minutes.
Wednesday: Nothing schedules. Did not get out and walk - but, did a bit of yard work and
some heavy duty house cleaning.
Thursday; Walked in the neighborhood this morning and then in the park with my daughter
this afternoon.
