I had such good intentions and good goals for this past year, and somehow life just got in the way! A couple of unexpected events.
First my older daughter, Vicki, is now in a long-term health care facility near her home in Salem. Still no diagnosis, but she is slowing improving. However, it feels like she may not be able to go home to a "normal" life. I am just so thankful for her faithful, loving husband, Norris.
Second, I was "dismissed" from my position as office manager in the church I attend. Had planned to work until next spring, but our Pastor wanted a change. I had worked there for over 3 years - no reviews and no input as to what he wanted different. Am still struggling with my feelings - somehow I feel betrayed.
So, now am finally fully retired - and loving every minute of it. Like today - got up about 7:30 and it is now after noon!! What have I done? Well, showered, had breakfast, did some exercises, and swept the bathroom. And, now sitting here browsing on my computer. May watch a movie this afternoon while I knit some more on a lace shawl - someday I may actually get it finished. This evening my son, Greg, will be over for our weekly Movie and Dinner. Probably will get Chinese take-out - we have not had any for quite a while. And, we have a few movies that we have not watched yet. Need to get those out.
Just want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year!!

2011 has been a challenging year! Had 7 goals for the year and have accomplished only 3 of them - the other 4 are still in progress!!
I have always welcomed change - like an new adventure with so many possibilities - but the changes this year have not been ones I would have anticipated.
First, my older daughter is now in a long-term health care facility - no diagnosis - but, she is beginning to remember family members and some of her life.
Second, I was "dismissed" from a position at the church that I have had for the past 3+ years. Not planned, so has meant a major "overhall" of my budget. Am now finally retired and do not plan to go back to work. But, the good news is that Social Security will see an increase this year - there has not been any the past 2 years.
So, now am looking to the next year - I do find that I am so much more committed to my goals when I check in here every day - what I eat, how much I exercise - and all the encouragement I get from just learning about the struggles and accomplishments of others sharing here!!
