I have added my goals here on Spark People and have been accomplishing some of them - well, some of the time. But, need to make them more visible each day. Am thinking about a chart for the front of the fridge. Except that if I put one there, my son will make sure that I reach my goals each day.
Recently, we made a trip to the We Care Clinic for him. He was having severe migraines and his blood pressure was slightly elevated. So he has been researching and has become more interested in our diet. We order from Schwans and love their meats. Not much to chose from here in Pendleton. We were so spoiled in Medford with a small Quality Market - that has the best meat on the West Coast. Well, we think so!! Geoff and I do not eat much meat, so one of their individual servings is just right for the two of us - with a couple of veggies and a salad.
So, am eating much better. And, my daughter is doing a semi-Weight Watchers and has lost 15 pounds. I did it for a couple of weeks and lost about 6 pounds. (have gained back a couple) - so want to get started counting points again. This diet goes very well with what Geoff and I have been eating this past week.
And, am gradually increasing my daily steps. Walked a mile with Leslie this morning and have about 1500 on my pedometer - am at work so the steps are going down the hall to answer the doorbell - and a couple of trips to the bathroom (on the other side of the sanctuary). I skip the one in the nursery so I can add a few more steps.
I just feel so encouraged on this website!! Love reading how others handled discouragement and setbacks just like I experience. And, am so motivated by the success stories - each day another step!!

Wed. I took Geoff, my son who lives with me, to the We Care Clinic. He has been having intense headaches for a couple of weeks. I had tried to get him to the ER but he would not go. So I enlisted his sister, the "new nurse", and she got him to the clinic. They ran a C-t scan and have referred to a neurologist - the nearest one in in Tri-Cities - about an hour from here. And, the soonest they could make an appointment is Jan - unless it is an emergency. So, now we wait.
Have started loosing a few pounds. Not exercising a lot - but am really watching what I eat. Am sorta doing the Weight Watchers point method with my daughter. Makes me more aware of some of the things I was eating too much of - like, cheese and ice cream in the evening. Now, I eat a little sweets right after dinner and no more later in the evening.
Have dropped off on my walking - was gradually increasing - and now am back to about where I was when I started. But, I am still wearing my pedometer every day - so need to get back to recording every day.
Am really tired this evening - sometimes I feel overwhelmed by all the issues with my children - just want to move away from all of them. But, I know that this is where I am supposed to be - where God has placed me. And, I know that God has a plan for my life here - so, I just take each day as it comes. And, respond to each situation as God places me in it.
And, yesterday a lady in the Church came in wanting to meet with one of the Pastors and I was the only one there at the time. She is having tests run for ALS - and was needing some comfort and prayers. So, I was able to spend some time with her. I felt so honored to be able to pray with and for her. Now, we wait for the results of her tests. She is a young mother with a husband and 2 sons at home.
Well, am about to doze off here at the computer - so had better sign off for this evening.

Just noticed that I have been with Spark People for a year!! Does not seem that long. Am just beginning to lose some weight. Not much - but it is a start!
I have not been consistent at all this past year with exercising. But, I have gradually been changing my diet. Am eating much healthier. One thing that has helped recently is buying thru Schwan's. I know their items can have lots of fat and calories, but I check each item before I eat it and adjust my portion. And, there are no leftovers in the fridge for me to "have to" eat later. It is really hard for me to toss good food. Except that, it is really better to toss it than to eat it.
I was doing well increasing my daily steps each week, but have slacked off there, too, the past couple of weeks. So, time to get with the program again.
I am feeling effects of the few pounds that I have lost the past couple of weeks. Now, to keep up the momentum!!
I do so appreciate all the acceptance and the encouragement here at SparkPeople. You are the BEST!!!
