Today we had our Round-Up Sunday in the Park and just want to share a few pictures I took. Here is our Worship Leader and one of the ladies in our church as they lead the music:

Our Pastor introducing our speaker:

Our speaker, Marty Campbell and his wife, Mandie. He was a bull rider in his younger days, but broke his back in a fall. Now he teaches Ag at the High School and is much loved by the students and in our Commuity:

Here we are waiting in line for lunch -

My daughter with our Pastor:

Labor Day

Sunday, September 05, 2010

This morning our Pastor asked how we plan to spend today? - Labor Day and also the Sabbath. He shared the story of Jesus healing the man with the withered hand - and the authorities becoming upset because He actually healed on the Sabbath.
Then Pastor challenged us to "step out of the box" - look around and find someone we can minister to today -

How will you be spending the day? What can you do for someone else? What do you have in your hand that you can share with someone in need?

Labor Day was began as a recognition of the many workers who have made our Country strong. How can I carry on this great tradition - for my generation and for my grandchildren? How can I encourage them to be their best?

Football This Evening

Saturday, September 04, 2010

Just had a phone call from my son-in-law - he lost his Dad this past week and has spent many hours enjoying football games with him. So, he and his family are coming over this evening for football and tacos. Will be fun and i hope a good evening for him.

I was just sitting here at my computer - not wanting to do anything today!! Yesterday was the funeral for the husband of my best friend!! She is such a strong person - but somehow "my eyes just kept leaking". Last week my ex was in the hospital here for a couple of days - very dehydrated and not doing very well. We have been divorced for over 35 years - but I guess in my heart i did not divorce him. Now, am wondering how i will feel if he should die. Gotta get out of these feelings!!!

So, am glad Eric called and - he does not know it - but he got me moving. Have cleaned the bathroom and have the second load of laundry going. Next is change my bed linen and sweep and mop the kitchen.

Am wearing my pedometer now and my goal is to add 500 steps each week. Not so many - but a goal i can do. Gotta get out of the Sedentary catagory. Need to see how many steps I need for that.

Hope every one is having a good weekend and have planned something special.

Finish Each Day

Monday, August 23, 2010

"Finish each day - and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities have crept in
Forget them as soon as you can."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Some very good advise. Today I feel like I have failed in so many ways - in my relationships, in my finances, and in my faith. But, yesterday is gone - never to be seen again (I hope!!! - would certainly not want to be 25 again - been there, done that).

Today is a new day!!! I feel like I have started over again and again and again. But, am so thankful that I can!!!

Have started drinking more water and thank you all for all the encouragement!! You cannot know how much I look for those little notes!! This week my goal is 6 glasses a day. emoticon I know I can - I proved it last week.

My goal this week is to increase my steps. I have joined the Step Diet team and have ordered the book - will be so glad when it comes. Last week I just recorded the number of steps each day that i usually take. Not really very many - I feel like a tortoise compared to others on the team - but just watch out - my numbers are going to start going up and up - I hope!!! No - I know I can do it - with just a little perseverance and determination and planning. I think planning is a big part of it - had not realized that until I became a part of the SparkPeople.

I have the day off today and need to spend some time with my daughter - her family is having some difficult days right now. Her Father-in-law is in the hospital with lung cancer. Yesterday he started coughing up blood. He is stable now - but the prognosis is not good. And, her ex-husband's Mother is in the hospital with a collapsed lung. She is the Grand-mother of Kathi's 2 older children. (Oh my, in the age of easy divorce, how mixed up our families become!! --) Also, have a long list of To-Dos.

For extra steps today, I am going to walk down to Penneys and see if I can find some new shoes. I am wearing a couple of pairs of canvas shoes right now that I ordered from Land's End - but need something a little more dressy for Sundays. Shopping in this town can be so frustrating - there is Penneys and WalMart!! Not much to chose from. Most people here go to Walla Walla or Tri-Cities to shop. Guess that is my next option.

Well, enough rambling for today. And, thank you, to anyone who takes the time to read thru all of this!!

God bless all!!
Barb

    You're doing great Barb.
Congratulations on the water and the steps, it all helps!

Enjoy your day with Kathi, hard I know, but I'm sure you being with her will help and comfort her.....everyone needs their mum now and again.
Hope everything goes well, I'm thinking of you and your family emoticon
