It Has been a Hard Week

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Last week I took a tumble - well, sorta. Lost my balance and am still a little sore. I twisted my left knee and bruised my right side. So have not been exercising much this week - not enough to chart. But, will get back to my routine this week.

Also, have a family issue that really threw me - i think I have cried a pond of tears - I started to say a "lake of tears" - but not quite that much. Nothing new with this son - but somehow this time it really hurt. He is not a believer, and gets really upset if we disagree with something he may say. Monday evening this happened between him and his brother - and he just left abruptly with no explanation to me. I don't need to know the details, but would have like some reason - like he and Geoff just did not agree on something.

Even my diet took a tumble - had take out twice this week - hamburgers once and last night pizza. Did have big salads with both - but still the damage was done. I have been trying some new recipes tho - there is a baked garlic chicken recipe on sparkreipes.com that is so good and easy to fix. Had that one evening and used the leftovers with rice then next evening. So, am not tooooo bad!!

Sorry to hear you fell and hurt yourself, I hope you're feeling better now...it really shakes you up. I fell last Saturday, caught the kerb with my toe and went down like a sack of spuds.....and in the middle of a busy bus station watched by at least fifty people. I sure got help fast though and the collective intake of breath as I went down still makes me laugh now...LOL...my elbow and knee are a little sore and scabby but otherwise fine.

Keep your chin up, I'm sure families are designed to upset us now and again, especially children! emoticon

As for the diet, climb right back up there, forget it and move on emoticon

A Fun BBQ Yesterday

Monday, July 12, 2010

Our BBQ yesterday was a big success!! We had hamburgers, chicken and hotdogs - and enough food for the whole neighborhood. And there were only 12 of us. We have just a small, flat area behind the apartments and then a drop off down to the river. Started out in the sun but the shade soon covered us and it cooled down. I have lived here 4 years and some of the people i had not known - two gals work swing shift and two others (sisters) are very busy with all their clubs, etc.
Everyone agreed that we need to do again later this summer -
Now I wish I had taken some pictures - I have never been a "picture-taker", but love to see pictures on this site. Helps to get to know people a little better. Will try to remember next time.

Looks like it may be a little cooler today - only into the 80s. And, right now there is a cool breeze - hope it lasts as that would keep the temp down.

Have a great day and stay cool!!

Need to try some new Recipes!

Saturday, July 10, 2010

I keep looking at and collecting recipes from this site - have even put together a few cookbooks. But have tried only a couple of the recipes. And they were really good. I plan to start using more of them - have been looking for some new things to try.

I fix dinner for 2 of my boys Monday evening, but seem to be in a rut. Think I will start trying a new recipe each week. We eat quite a bit of chicken and pasta meals. And, we have tacos fairly often on Mondays. But, I think is it time to find some new things to fix.

We will have fish after Eric returns from his fishing trip to Alaska - now that should be really good and fresh. Most of when we get here has been frozen for quite a while.

Hope you are having a good summer - now that is has finally arrived.

I'm a bit like that, see all the wonderful recipes and save them only to do the usual stuff I've done for years...LOL..I'm going to take a leaf out of your book and try some new ones too!
I did send for two 'Hungry-girl' cookbooks which we can't buy over here and I do use a few recipes out of that, especially yummy stuffed mushrooms, but I'm definitely going to expand my repertoir emoticon

My Son-in-Law is going Fishing!

Saturday, July 10, 2010

I gotta get going this morning and here I sit at my computer. Have tracked breakfast, read a couple of blogs, and found updated my status. But, I think I will just have another cup of coffee and enjoy the cool morning. It will be in the 90s this afternoon.

Tomorrow my son-in-law leaves with a group of men for a fishing trip in Alaska. He is so excited!! My daughter said he has never done anything like this - he is a hard worker and puts his family first. So, when the men at church were planning another trip this summer, I asked her if Eric would like to go. When I mentioned it to him, his eyes just lit up!! So, I am paying his way -

He called me and asked for my order. I told him I just want him to relax, have a good time, and catch whatever. The halibut run is great right now and there is lots of crabbing and clamming - so we will have lots of good eating when he returns. The place they are going is 153 Fish Camp and they have a great website with lots of pictures. I keep going there and daydreaming. I do not fish but have always loved camping. And, this looks like a great area to just enjoy nature.

Well, it is time!! The clock just won't wait for me this morning and my to-do list for today is rather long.

Hope you are all having a great day and staying cool!!

Great for your son-law. You paid for it. His trip. Now your a lovely Mother in-law.
My best friend across where I live are in Nova Scotia. Her hubby is going fishing with his brother's for a month. My friend drove there with him of course but she will enjoy the lovely country with his Mother and his sibling's. He fishes from the crack of dawn. He is thee fisherman when he is here. Thanks be when he is home here. I got to have a friend that walks with me and we became good friends. So him fishing most hours. Brings us a real sweet relationship as pals. She is now cutting down in her portions. In N Brunswick is the land of fish. So she will be okay. I phoned her in the week and he is reeling them fast and furry. He has had some big trout. They have cooked it up. Yummier!

So my morning was like yours. Shan't worry. It is still early now afternoon.
I am doing what you are. Commenting on pages and blogs. Drinking my second coffee from this morning. I nuked it, I don't know how many times. I am dressed and I have been out once B. picking, mostly eating them. I put that in my status.

I tell you. Sparks is like a maze. I can be in here for hours and never reach the end till all hours. I am what I may say. Addicted to Sparks. I hope not that bad.

It is hot now. We had rain last night. Thought it would cool things down.

Have a rest of the day a good one.
