What a busy month this has been!! Whew!! First a fantastic week in Orlando (and yes, I know I still need to get all of my dear Spark friends caught up on the details!!) and now I will be going in to surgery tomorrow. I will be staying overnight in the hospital and coming home on Tuesday. This will be followed by approximately 6 weeks of laying fallow while my body recovers. Guys, you may want to avert your eyes for the rest of this paragraph and skip to the next one! So what will the doctor be doing tomorrow, you may ask? Well, last year I got tired of spilling a little of my bladder every time I coughed, sneezed, laughed, jumped, etc. It was not always like this. In fact, I was really surprised the first few times I spilled after having children! So last fall, I had the doctor put in a TVT sling. It never worked! In fact, it made things worse by not allowing me to completely close off my Kegels! So back I go for the upgrade of the TVT sling, which the doctor says he now does as standard because too many women were failing with the lower version. (Really?!?! No kidding!?!?!) So now I have to go thru the pain and agony of healing all over again in the hopes of not having that miserable problem anymore! And hopefully in return, I will not have to worry whenever I cough, sneeze, laugh, etc. I am looking forward to enjoying going to amusement parks and riding the fun rides without fear that my shorts may get ruined! I am also looking forward to working out without a pad. Ahhh, the simple things in life!!
So I have a busy schedule planned while I am in those 6 weeks recuperation. First, I plan to continue my photo album scanning project. I have barely touched the tip of the iceberg and have already spent countless hours scanning old pictures and slides. Luckily, when our basement flooded last summer, I had already moved most of my old photo albums upstairs so I could scan them. We lost some pictures, but most of them were in frames which meant that the originals were in the albums .... somewhere. Second, I plan to get my shoulder back up and running like new. I already got a shot of cortisone in my shoulder before we left on vacation; in fact that was the only way I could have survived swimming 3 days in the water parks! As a follow-up to the cortisone shot, the doctor wants me to do physical therapy (PT). I have already started my PT and the surgeon has cleared me to continue with the PT following the surgery.
So there you have my schedule for the next few weeks. In the meantime, I leave you with a scanned picture of my cousin taken when he was here in America back in 1984. My dear cousin was buried last week on his 53rd birthday. Cuz, I will miss you and I hope whatever demons you were fighting have been laid to rest so you may enjoy peace.
