Keeping it up

Friday, March 06, 2009

I haven't been here on a while and I miss all of you!! Life has been very busy lately. But all of you would be happy to know that I have continued to work out and I'm still maintaining my goal weight!! I'm happier and healthier! On a darker note, I wanted to share something with all you guys: I found out yesterday that my fiancee's cholesterol was off the charts. I have to say I was pretty shocked because he is only 29. I knew he wasn't living a healthy lifestyle but I honestly thought because he was young it would catch up with him another time...........I hope no one else out there makes the same mistake. Eating foods high in fat and living a sedentary lifestyle is risky, no matter how old you are!! Don't take your lives for granted and be kind to yourselves. Next time you want that chocolate cake or that piece of pizza, please think of the harm it does your bodies! Love yourselves! You guys are worth it!! I hope everyone is doing well with their goals!!

Losing these last five pounds..........

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

It's hard!! It seemed like all my weight fell off and now, it's like, the fat is screaming noooooooo, it's the last of us, we aren't going down without a fight lady!! One thing I need to do is start logging my calories in again. I am going to do that. I stopped doing it while still eating well, while I was in transition, but I have to now if I am going to drop these last five pounds and tone up the way I want to. This is something I really, really want, and I'm going to get it, because it's well with in my means. Not to mention I have already come this far. Time to buckle down. I want to be at my goal by Christmas, so I can start the new year fit and smoking hot haha!! I want to go into the summer with confidence and wear the tank tops I love. Anyway, this site has been a huge help. Thanks Kathy for reintroducing it to me. And all of you have been a huge help also. Thanks for that and we are all going to get there. I wanted to share something I read with all of you; I read that interval training burns fat faster. I have been doing it myself and it really does work. It's where you get your heart rate up real high and take a break, (lets say your break is crunches) until your heart rate goes back down and then you get it back up again for thirty minutes to an hour. If you guys haven't tried it, you should! It's great!

Good luck with the last five pounds, I know you can do it. I agree completely that it feels great to gain control over myself and look at something and say I don't need that! I made my fiancee brownies a couple days ago and have had one small piece of it and haven't wanted anymore, that's a big win for me lol. Thank you for being so supportive with positive feed back, it definitely helps and this site as well.

Pushing Myself

Monday, October 20, 2008

So, I am at the home stretch of my weight loss journey and I am starting to challenge my body. One hour of cardio instead of thirty minutes, running for the last five minutes of my hour on the treadmill. It feels nice. I figure, what's an hour of my day to lose the weight? Even though it feels like eternity when I'm doing it, it's so wonderful when I get finished. After I lose the amount of weight I want, I'm really going to buckle down with strength training, because what's an hour or two of your day to have a body you always wanted?

You don't look soft at all! Girl, you are doing & doing it well. I have been inspired so much here lately & you are part of it. When I first started Spark last year, I lost 18lbs then gained back 10. I am turning 40 next year & I look good but I want to not only look better but have that infused inside as well. I want my heart to beat slower. I am about to do my arm work out, did some walking early, will do some sits up (as soon as Shadow is done laying around) & then kill the evening with some tae bo moves while I watch the beautiful ladies of Desperate Housewives & Brothers & Sisters! Let's Go!

Blessings,

Dee> emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Lack of Motivation!

Friday, October 17, 2008

So my fiancée has been home now for a while and he eats ALL the time. I mean, I have really never met anyone who stays hungry like this man. This morning I made him an egg, some toast, two sausage links, and a waffle and he was STILL hungry! I make him the lunches I usually eat and he's like, that was a great snack! LOL!
It's not his fault that it's really throwing me off. I can make my own choices but for some reason when I am around him I always feel hungrier. It's the stupidest thing, I know. He also is has a HUGE motivational problem and it's effecting me somehow, making my morale go down? I mean I'm SO close to my goal, and I'm like forget it, it's not going to happen? I know that's crazy talk, though. I need to get the ball rolling again! I mean what happened to my momentum? By some grace of God I actually lost a pound last week, he lost ten!! He's going back to work soon, though, so maybe it will go back to normal, or even better I can learn to resist temptation even when he is around!

Yeah! Darn guys haha! They are usually blessed with better metabolisms even though they aren't judged half as much if they gain five pounds!! Ughh!! But thanks everyone, I have recaptured my motivation!

i am in the same boat. i usually exercise when my b-friend is at work and hes a roofer so hes been off for about a week and a half and i dont like to do my routine when hes here cause it makes me uncomfortable. weve been together for 6 yrs so i know he could care less but it bugs me. and i was eating so good now he wants to eat out or make big lunches and ive been doing really good still but i know i would eat better if he wasnt home. he actually got mad when the family went through wendys and i only got a side salad!! lol! guess i made him feel bad or somethin. its hard when our men are around isnt it? wouldnt it be nice to eat whatever you want and not care where it goes. ha ha! so not fair! ~nicole~ emoticon

Hey girl hang in there you can do it! Try always serving yourself on a saucer plate and him on a larger plate. I always feed my husband about three times what I eat.

And make sure the meals are balanced. Feed a salad first then the rest of a meal.

And keep venting! We are here for you!

I HEAR YOU!!! My husband is 6'2" and goes between 145-150 lbs............(YES you read that right) and he has been this way since HIGH SCHOOL. Okay, GAG ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He can eat WHATEVER he wants and STILL stays in this range! He doesn't even look bloated!!!

It is very frustrating, but I've changed some of my habits around so I don't feel so "without"...... For example, he loves ice cream - he can eat a quart in a night (UGH!)....... When he reaches for the ice cream, I reach for a Weight Watchers dessert flavored yogurt that I've got in the freezer and eat that... 70 calories and it takes FOREVER to eat (try it!).... I end up feeling satisfied AND I've had a nutritious snack!

Another thing I've done is that I've started to add in one HUGE helping of fruit and one huge helping of veggies to dinner......and I eat whatever sounds good to me as the main course.... This way, I'm satisfied as far as craving, and full from the nutrients in the side items........ My hubby STILL snacks after that, but I feel nice and full so I don't indulge when he's cramming more in his mouth!

Good luck! You're so close!!

OH and another thing - switch up your workouts a bit! A lot of times I feel so energized and refreshed after doing a nice workout that I like! THEN I start to really think about what I'm eating because I dont' want to undo all my hard work! :)

I love that saying, "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels." This is what I told myself AND my family when they had chocolate chip cookies and chip with Subway at lunch!! LOL
