Get better, get worse lol

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Ok I was ready to get back into walking and going to the gym. My vette is still not running. Then my back started to get better and I decided I would use my Leslie Sansone indoor walking dvds, just to start out easy. I got a migraine last Wednesday and the darn thing did not ease up until Sunday.
Frank and I went to Lazy Boy yesterday (we went last Tuesday also to look at furniture). My husband wanted to come yesterday, because he was suppose to have the day off. He got called into work. Anyways, when Frank & I went last week, we found out it would take 10-12 weeks to get special ordered furniture. I told my husband I thought it would take at least 6 weeks a few months back and he thought I was crazy. Soooo, we will be lucky to have living room furniture by Thanksgiving. But the 2 pieces will be brown leather, nailed couch and love sits with recliners. So comfy and soft. Jeff wanted black leather to go with the black leather counter nailed chairs, but it raised the price by $3700 because black isn't a standard color in the type of furniture we purchased. So I said no way and he agreed.
He sched. a reunion party at our house for the 7th of Sept. with 3 other couples that he graduated high school with. It is 40 yrs, and they all decided that they didn't want to see anybody else but a get-to-gather with us would be find. Now we will have to bring in the deck chairs and be real careful not to damage the new wood floors. Hope the party goes well.
Thanks all for hanging in there with me. I know I haven't been much of a Sparks friend for the last couple of years but I am really trying to get my act together. xo

You can party hearty!! You could put small rugs under the pawn chairs to help prevent scratching. You have worked so hard at remodeling, it would be a shame to damage it now.
The furniture sounds lovely.
Hope you headache is not hanging on to try to return!!

Hard to wait for the furniture, but it will be worth it. Don't get too stressed about the party...try to keep things simple so you don't wear out before hand and then can't enjoy it. (Spoken from this kettle calling the pot black!)
No worries about not being on SP too much...we all take breaks from it. And you've been very busy renovating a house!

So sorry you had the migraine, Terri! That must be awful to have a headache for that long! Enjoy the party, too bad that you can't get the furniture for 12 weeks! Wow, they must be backed up on orders or something! I have missed you, glad to see you back and blogging again! emoticon emoticon

My husband's favorite chair is an over-sized Lazy-boy to fit him perfectly. It's a dark brown leather. He's 6'6" and around 280# and it's perfect for him. The foot rest even has an extension that he can click and it fits his long legs better! The chair is so strong and study too, where other cheap chairs could tip over sideways when one would lean over to get something off the floor. Not this one! You'd think I was a rep. for Lazy-boy and I guess I could be!! You will be so happy I know, I hope and I really think you will be!! Have a good, fun time with your company!

I purchased Lazy Boy furniture last year. It is worth waiting for. Our couch is beautiful. We also got an accent chair which is my favorite chair now. It swivels and rocks. We have 2 Lazy Boy leather recliners too.

Troubles, and more troubles

Thursday, August 08, 2013

Well, per my previous blog I have been having trouble once again with my old classic corvette. It does seem to be working once again, so I can get back into the gym yet again. Only problem was my lower back went out again. I really feel like an old lady when this happens and worse I even smell (LOL) like one due to the fact I have to put on a Ben Gay type product. Living on Tylenol during the day and back patches at night. It went out of place from laying on the chair at the dentists office. I know that sounds weird, since they have these really comfy chairs. They are all padded, and you get laid out almost upside down (or so it seems) so the dentist can sit & doesn't get back aches. Only thing was as soon as they raised me back up to upright position, I felt my back start to really hurt. I have lower back stenosis, so wasn't much of a surprise. But it just got worse, and then I could hardly move around the house. So today was the best the old back has felt since the end of the month. Will rest up a few more days and jump slowing back into the swing of things.

How's everyone else doing?

Hope your back is pain free once again and that your vette is running like a top! Have you made it back to the gym? I've been living on Alieve for the past week due to back pain. I think my problem is my bed and my pillow! Both need replaced and bad!! I've missed you! Stop by the AMC team some day to say hello! Take care! ~~Melissa~~

Wow! That old Corvette is turning into quite the money pit :(((
I have discovered even the slightest thing can throw your back out. Happened twice to me the last couple of weeks :( I had a bone scan and the diagnosis was a new form of arthritis is attacking my back, shoulders and feet. Brings to three the number of arthritis diseases I have :(( This new stuff is NOT being controlled by my RA meds. As luck would have it, my poor specialist has leukemia and had to give up her practise. As Specialists in immunology are few and far between here, the wait lists to get in to see one are long, if they accept new patients at all. The one I applied for has three years!!
I have been at least having fun at my city's plethora of festivals -boat festival, jazz festival, exhibition and fringe, all within the last four weeks!
Hope you continue to feel better!

Those chairs are back breaking. I am tall and have to sit on the very edge of the chair so that my neck is resting in the right place. Yep, I am only a fan of my recliner for reclining:)D Take care and I hope your back is better soon!!

July 18th & 19th

Friday, July 19, 2013

Yesterday I went to the gym and had a good cardio workout.

I had a dentist appointment at 3pm. I have very healthy gums and teeth. Due to over brushing with a hard toothbrush when I was younger, my gum line has receded and my roots of my teeth are showing, causing my much pain over the years. The dentist and I decided it was time to fix this problem over a period of time. The upper right & left this year and the lowers next year. My main problem is I am allergic to Novocaine & Lidocaine, so they have to use products that aren't as strong. They have used this product only a few times over the last 7 or so years. I still feel unwell and was white as a ghost when I finally got home last evening. Didn't eat any dinner until around 8pm. Stomach and headache, to I took Tylenol when I got home too. I go back to at the end of the month to do the left side after doing the right yesterday.

So I am leaving the doctors office, it is around 90 degrees and my car won't start up once again. I call Jeff who comes and rescues me with a jump on the batteries. I wait inside the air-conditioned office where I start to feel sick. I hope I don't feel like this after the next side at the end of the month and need to tell my doctor how I reacted when they open again on Monday.

I drive home with the hubby and son driving behind me but am too scared to turn the A/c or radio on in the car. Some of you will remember me talking here about troubles with my car and Jeff doing so many things to get it running. He thought he had it fixed and I have been driving it around for close to a month, no problems. Even driving to the dentist car was running fine with the radio and A/C running along keep the car nice and cool. So when I call him at first he thinks I am joking. No its too hot too joke and I am very glad I didn't have to wait outside. emoticon

Got up this pretty early this morning because the floor installer's were coming to put the new flooring into two of the bedrooms. Only one room left in the house to get the popcorn ceiling off and put in the new floors. Still felt sick this morning but had to drive up to St. Jude's Medical in Fullerton for a pro-time. Had to adjust just a bit on meds for tomorrow.

The guys were still working on the floors when I got home and I just really wanted to lie down. After they left around 12:30pm or thereabouts, Jeff turned back on the A/C in the house and we all took short naps. Still don't feel 100%, stomach tossing and turning but getting better.

Will take Phred out for a walk once it cools off, currently @ 4pm it is still in the upper 80's.
Have a nice weekend.

So very sorry you have this dental problem :(( It doesn't sound good with this alternative medication for freezing -to get sick like that maybe an allergic reaction? If its from the same family as the 'caines you might be allergic to all its spin offs.. Have they ever suggested acupuncture? Some dentists prefer to use that with great success, especially for people who hate getting their mouth all frozen and feeling like their lip and face is fat.
Sorry about the car troubles again :(
Hope that heat eases up for you! No way man or beast should have to go out in that!!
They need an air conditioned gym for humans and dogs to get their workouts in!!

emoticon Boy I hope you haven't developed a sensitivity to the product he used. That is really tough. Hoping you are feeling better today. Did you call and talk to him? So sorry to hear this. I don't enjoy the dentist trips at all and have a tooth that needs to be pulled as it is broken. Really don't want to try to locate another dentist as mine retired this spring. Don't know who would be able to deal with my gag reflex:( Take care and feel better.

Mammogram is fine. Other thoughts

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

Ok I guess with the new system the hospital and doctor's group have now initiated I get alerts in my email. They started doing this a while ago and insisted that one should join, you get in using you Facebook account ID. I got the alert yesterday afternoon and all is fine, which is what I thought, but nice to read. It said I should also receive an hard copy soon. We shall see. I really hate this new system, but you can go on and see just about everything from at least the last 10 yrs. online. I just worry about identity theft which I experience in 2009.

Painted both bedrooms this morning and we installed the new light fixtures last night. I also have already gone to StatersBros Market this AM. SB had good prices on whole chickens @ .99 cents a pound. I picked up 3, having one tonight. Jeff purchased a new freezer for me a couple of weeks ago from Home Depot and it was delivered last week. We purchased a bunch of ice from the local ice house to help it keep everything cold until we can get it filled up. It is a May Tag energy star rated and self defrosting (woo hoo). I am slowly getting it filled up. I plan to go back to SB Monday and get some more whole chickens. I also purchased some boneless pork chops, 5 to a pack for around $5 bucks, give or take a few cents.

I have been reading every night on my Kindle because with the only tv working in the master bedroom gets turned off when my hubby decides to go to bed. He sometimes hits the hay around 7:30pm. I either hang on my laptop or read. I downloaded some free classics a long time ago. So having never read Uncle Tom's Cabin, I had been reading it. Since I am not from the south, it is a bit difficult to sometimes make-out the dialect being used by both the master's and the slaves. I find it to be a real eye opener, even though I am aware from my black studies classes in high school and college about slavery, civil rights, etc., it really gets to the heart of the matter. Even after all these years of being written so long ago, I have been close to tears a number of times.
Having visited the south in 1971 (15 yrs old at the time) I can remember being in shock at the living conditions of some black families as my mother and I drove down from Washington DC, along the East Coast to Florida. As bad as some blacks thought they had it in areas like Oakland and Los Angeles, it was nothing compare to seeing the shanty's and huts I observed then. Anyway I find it to be a example of what the South really was like before the Civil War and think more people (of any color) should be required to read it.

Enough preaching. I hope everyone is doing grand and the weather cools off for everyone.

Hi! So happy to see you back on SP! I would hate my med records being online or tied to FB. But, it is nice to be able to access your results so quickly. But, Ben Franklin said something to the effect that if a nation gives up even 1 freedom in the name of safety they deserve neither. I'm afraid we did that very thing with the Patriot Act. Anyhow, happy your test went well, happy for your new freezer and all the great buys you are getting and for such great progress on your home! I live in the south and would not live any where else. The thing is that you see more blacks living in those poor conditions but it is about even when it comes to race and poverty. I'm from up North and I actually have witnessed more blatent and ugly racism up North than down here. My family lived in conditions worse than or very near the slaves after the emancipation proclmation. They worked hard for very little and worked in coal mines and owed it all to the company store which was very close to slavery with low wages thrown in to make it not. So, I don't like to hear anyone whine about their circumstances! We all have it much better than we could, so don't ask for handouts, ask for hand ups! Sorry.... I just had to say that we can't generalize on any race based on books or even casual observations. Life is tough. For all of us in some way. Stop moaning and do something about it. OK, stepping off my soap box. I must say, I've read more classics as an adult with better technology and it is amazing comparing then to now! Thanks and truly, glad all is well and so good to have you back here on SP!

So glad your test was okay! I would absolutely hate it needing my medical record tied to my Facebook account. There really is no privacy on there, its not secure. Someone managed to hack my Facebook password in spite of it being one of the more secure ones using numbers, capitals, etc. I just don't want it online.
Its great those rooms are coming closer to being done.
Reading exercises your mind more than TV ;) good for you reading some classics. I wish I had more time to read. Just have too much going on in the summer.
Have a Fantastic Friday and Wonderful Weekend!

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Ok been really trying to get into the gym at least 3 times a week. Went last Wed., Sat. and today. Started doing a weight routine again last Wed. and did the same workout again today. I plan to up the poundage a little bit at a time. Currently just doing #15, will go up to 20# after 6 or 8 sessions. I don't want to burn out too fast and just really taking it easy. Cardio is going well, I mix it up bwt the treadmill, elliptical and bikes. They have another type of elliptical, 750A like a stair stepper/gazelle, that I no longer try to use. I would have terrible pain in my hips after using and suffer leg cramps, so I don't use it anymore. I just wish they had a regular stair stepper like they had at both 24Hrs and Ballys.
Jeff goes back to work on Monday, so we are trying to finish up the bedrooms (sanding, prep, painting and putting up new ceiling fixtures) before the guys come to put in the new flooring next week. I picked a very pretty color called Peony from the Martha Stewart color collection, although we are using Bear paint from Home Depot. They can color match anything.
I had a Mammogram on Monday the 12th, still waiting to get a letter. Normally get one in just a few days, so mail must be slow. I am sure all is fine.
Weather had been hot everyday for a few weeks over 90+. Running A/C 24/7 but bill should be lower than last year when half of the house was expose to the elements due to home remodeling.

I love changing rooms up but it does get expensive, doesn't it? We just painted my parents' room and my mom picked and Amethyst color... it looks like the "calm room" in our jail!

And I am sure the mammogram is fine... otherwise they would have called you. At least I hope they would have.

And congratulations on getting your workouts in. I was sick for a month and an just now getting back up to speed after 3 weeks of working on it! I swear I don't want to get sick any time soon, even thought I lost 6 pounds in a week. But when I had to stop working out, I gained 14 pounds in 3 weeks! I have 10 of those 14 gone and I am elated because they DO NOT belong on my body.
